Shreyas Iyer loses his cool at Shashank Singh in viral video after MI clash: ‘Muhn mat lagna tu mere…'

Mint2 days ago

Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer was the poster boy of calmness as he led the franchise to their first IPL Final in 11 years with a six off Ashwini Kumar. Even after the match, Iyer remained calm while his teammates exploded in celebrations.
However, a new video has now emerged where Iyer is seen losing his temper at fellow teammate Shashank Singh and even hurling a few abuses. Iyer refused to shake hands with Singh after the match and said 'Muhn mat lagna tu mere (Don't talk to me)', accompanied by a few colourful words, if netizens are to believed.
The PBKS skipper hasn't officially revealed the reason for losing his composure so everything is just specualtion at the moment. However, Iyer might have been unhappy with the way Singh lost his wicket.
Notably, Shashank Singh was dismissed on the 4th ball of the 17th over while running casually towards his mark while a direct throw from Hardik Pandya shattered the stumps. With 35 runs needed off 20 runs at this stage, the dismissal of Singh could have turned costly for PBKs.
As it turns out, Iyer kept the PBKS innings going all by himself and nudged even good balls from Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult towards the boundary line. It was ultimately during the 19th over of the match that Iyer let himself loose as he took on the left handed Ashwini Kumar as he hit the bowler for four sixes and accumulated a total of 27 runs from his over.
Iyer ended the innings with 87 runs off 41 balls while also overcoming Prabhsimran Singh as the highest run scorer for Punjab Kings this season. The PBKS skipper has scored 603 runs in the 16 matches so far with an average of 54.81 and a strike rate of 175.80.

'9 IPL trophies in the Pandya household!' Krunal calls Hardik after POTM win in RCB's 1st title victory

After being asked to bat first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) managed to post only 190 runs on the board in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final against Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad seemed to behave differently in the second innings — especially when Krunal Pandya came on to bowl and defend what many critics had deemed a below-par total. In his four-over spell, the spinner delivered a match-winning performance, conceding just 17 runs at an economy of 4.20 and taking two key wickets — opener Prabhsimran Singh (26 off 22) and Josh Inglis (39 off 23), both looking dangerous. For his crucial contribution in helping RCB lift their maiden IPL trophy, Krunal was awarded the Player of the Match. Moments he will never forget 🏆Moments they will never forget 🤩🎥 Virat Kohli 🤝 The #RCB faithful ❤#TATAIPL | #RCBvPBKS | #Final | #TheLastMile | @RCBTweets | @imVkohli Krunal Pandya — the clutch player Speaking to Ravi Shastri during the post-match presentation, Krunal explained his bowling approach: "When we batted in the first innings, I was sitting outside and chatting with the batters, and I realised that the slower you bowl, the better. But in this format, you need guts to do that because the margin of error is small. I just backed myself and thought if I varied my pace and kept it on the slower side, I could create chances instead of just firing it in." He added: "My biggest strength has always been reading the situation. I back my gut and instincts. Today, I knew if I wanted to take a couple of wickets, I had to be brave. If you bowled quick on this surface, it would've been a good batting pitch. But varying the pace helped. It got slightly better in the second innings compared to the first." After three and a half months, I'm glad I could fulfil what I said on Day 1." What he said next struck an emotional chord with fans: "It's been a great 10 years — four IPL trophies. I told Hardik on the phone, now there are nine IPL trophies in the Pandya household in 10 years." About RCB's victory PBKS openers started strong, but RCB kept striking at key moments. The game turned with Krunal Pandya's brilliant spell. Romario Shepherd's key wicket of Shreyas Iyer, who failed to fire, also swung momentum. Despite PBKS's deep batting lineup, the run rate climbed steadily. Marcus Stoinis hit a six but fell on the very next ball, Nehal Wadhera holed out, and RCB's bowlers — Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal — kept it tight in the end, despite Shashank Singh's efforts to retain strike. Apart from an early drop, RCB's fielding was sharp, with Phil Salt setting the tone with a superb catch. In a pressure final, RCB outplayed PBKS with smart bowling, disciplined fielding, and calm execution — finally lifting their first IPL trophy.

18 is the charm for Virat Kohli: Royal Challengers Bengaluru icon finally wins the Indian Premier League

Virat Kohli has an IPL trophy. It has taken 18 years for the legend himself and fans to rejoice success in the biggest T20 league in the world. It has taken eighteen years of sheer persistence, determination, loyalty and hard work to achieve the final frontier of the 36-year-old's decorated career. Kohli, who is the only player to represent the same team - Royal Challengers Bengaluru - from IPL's inception, has ruled the tournament with the bat. He has more than 9,000 runs for RCB in over 250 matches for the team across IPL and Champions League T20, the most for any batter. The 36-year-old also has the most eight centuries. He led the franchise from 2011 to 2022 with a final in 2016, where the team fell short by just eight runs. But it was on Tuesday at Ahmedabad that Kohli got the taste of the coveted title after RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs. Kohli himself contributed 43 runs in the final. A young, 19-year-old, Virat Kohli had joined RCB from the draft system in the inaugural season in 2008, fresh off an U19 World Cup win as a captain. Kohli did not have the best of starts to his IPL career with just 135 runs in 13 matches. His second season was not the best either, with 246 runs in 16 matches. He showed some promise in 2010, when he got his first 300-run came as a surprise when Kohli was the only player retained by RCB in 2011, ahead of legends of the game like Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn, Kevin Pietersen and Ross Taylor. The 22-year-old Kohli repaid the faith put in him with 557 runs, including four half centuries that season. The team reached the final but fell short in the final step. He also led the team for the first time in the absence of regular captain Daniel Vettori. The batter was made the full-time captain RCB in 2013. However, his breakout season came in 2016, in which he smashed 973 runs to lead the team to the final. The tally remains the highest for a batter in a single season till date. He smashed four centuries in that season, equalled only by Jos Buttler. The 2017-19 seasons were a slump for RCB, finishing last twice and not making it to the playoffs even once. Kohli, however, was still among runs with more than 400 runs in each of the this time, Kohli had already etched his name in history books, becoming one of the best batters across the world, winning matches single handedly for India and RCB. He gave up the leadership duties in 2022 and ever since has registered three consecutive seasons of more than 600 runs, adding to his legacy with the bat. Having won everything with India - the 50 over World Cup, Champions Trophy and the T20 World Cup - it is only fitting that Kohli has lifted the coveted IPL title after 18 long years, the number he has carried on his shirt all through his legendray career.
