Akhil sachdeva on working with Mawra Hocane: ‘Music Has No Boundaries, But Nation Comes First'

Playback singer Akhil Sachdeva recently opened up about his latest romantic track Tu Chaand Hai and the emotional journey behind its creation. The song, released on April 4, 2025, features Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane in the video, sparking both appreciation and conversation, especially in light of the ongoing ban on Pakistani artists in India. In a chat, Akhil revealed that Tu Chaand Hai wasn't an immediate hit with him. Initially, due to his packed schedule of shows and travel, he turned the offer down. 'When I first heard it over the phone, it didn't strike me as something I should do,' he admitted. But it was his wife who changed his mind, urging him to give it a second listen. 'She said, 'This is a beautiful song, you can't say no,' and she was right,' he reflected. Mawra Hocane's involvement added another layer of familiarity to the project. Akhil had known her for years through her brother-in-law, singer Farhan Saeed—his close friend of nearly a decade. Their previous meeting during an overseas concert helped make the Dubai shoot effortless and smooth. Addressing the sensitive issue of working with Pakistani talent, Akhil shared a balanced perspective: 'Music has no boundaries, but the nation must come first. Despite some aggressive reactions, we answered with love. The song is ours—they only cast the actress. And yes, we always stand with the nation.' Akhil's candid reflections and heartfelt song show that music, while global, still holds space for deep personal and national sentiment.

The couple is expected to return to India by the end of June. After photographs of Moitra's wedding went viral on social media, the MP on Thursday evening posted on her X handle, "Thank you everyone for the love and good wishes!! So grateful." News of the wedding, kept under wraps for nearly a week, broke on social media with multiple photographs of the Berlin wedding. According to party sources, Moitra had informed the party leadership about her wedding and took permission from the party to go to Germany. This was imperative because the Election Commission had announced June 19 as the bypoll date for Nadia's Kaliganj assembly seat. Kaliganj falls within Moitra's Krishnanagar LS constituency. According to sources, Mahua and Misra have known each other for a long time but have been in a formal relationship only recently. The couple had also been abroad together. Both (Moitra and Misra) didn't want to make it public." Sources said the event was attended by close family members and some trusted friends. They described the ceremony as elegant and traditional, with Moitra seen in richly embroidered bridal attire. A BJD senior said, "It was in the offing for a while. They are a couple now." Moitra did her graduation in Massachusetts and worked as an investment banker with JPMorganChase in London. She quit her job to join Congress in 2009 in Rahul Gandhi's 'Aam Aadmi Ki Sipahi'. Ahead of Ranbir Kapoor's version, Ramayan actor Arun Govil says no one from the current crop of stars can play Lord Ram

Actor Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, is not quite sure whether any Bollywood star can pull off the part. His comments arrive after Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush, a film based on the Ramayana, which faced significant backlash and was criticized for its visual effects, dialogues. Then there's Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi-starrer Ramayan. (Also read: Ramayana first review comes from Devendra Fadnavis: Ranbir Kapoor, Yash's film get high praise from CM) In an interview with NDTV, Arun said, 'Three-four people tried recreating it, [but] they were not successful. I don't think in our lifetime someone should try to recreate Ramayan. As far as some actor playing Ram [is concerned], all the available actors, all the stars at this moment - I don't think anyone is suitable. Maybe you can find someone outside the industry.' Arun portrayed Lord Ram while Dipika Chikhlia essayed the part of Goddess Sita in the immensely popular and highly lauded 1987 TV serial. For the unversed, the upcoming film on the Ramayana is one of the most anticipated films in recent times. Last year, fans got an exclusive peak into the transformation of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Lord Ram and Goddess Sita as pictures from the set of the film were leaked. During the Waves Summit 2025 last month, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis hailed the film and said, "I was amazed to see the quality of Ramayana that you are creating. I think this is the way we need to tell our stories to the new generation, and I believe what you are setting up will be the best in the globe.' Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana boasts an ensemble cast, including KGF star Yash as Ravana. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles. It is set to release in two parts, with the first part scheduled for Diwali 2026 and the second part in 2027.
