Ishaan Khatter is officially the Milind Soman of the 21st century

With Soman being the zaddy, we had almost lost hope of anyone qualifying for the Gen Z. Now the throne has an able contender – the younger sibling of Shahid Kapoor. It is not that others have not tried before–even Ranveer Singh's abs had their moment in Ram-Leela (2013) and his 2022 nude photoshoot. Call it fate, timing or a very strategic PR machinery, but Khatter, with his boyish charm and chiselled chest, is here to stay. Khatter without an upper-body garment is the sole saving grace of the show. Everything and everyone else melts away when he takes off his shirt. This phenomenon occurred for the first time three decades ago when Milind Soman emerged from a wooden box in just a white dhoti in Alisha Chinoy's Made in India music video. Despite being an age of near-zero internet and patchy cable TV in India, a whole generation of women fell for Soman. They swooned, and prayed for the song to appear the next time they switched on the television, just to get a glimpse of his Greek god physique. The year was 1995, and Soman has reigned supreme ever since. Now, Gen Z women can finally relate to that, with Khatter. A shirtless Ishaan Khatter in Netflix's The Royals has made Indian women swoon and reach for some chilled water with his hotness. He is everywhere, or rather his shirtless pictures are everywhere. Khatter is now officially the Milind Soman of Gen Z. Absolutely no one has any complaints about the young actor taking off his shirt for questionable reasons: playing polo, or just riding his horse. Because the glistening six-pack abs are the stuff of dreams. Also read: How Sabyasachi has presented India at Met Gala over the years. Alia Bhatt to SRK A slow-burn Soman started his modelling career in 1989 and rose to prominence in the 1990s. The year 1995 was significant for both Soman and millennials as the model captivated women with his appearance on the TV show A Mouthful of Sky, which marked his acting debut. The same year, he sparked controversy with his Tuff shoes ad, paired alongside model Madhu Sapre. He was everywhere–from magazines to news headlines. In the ad, Sapre and Soman look intensely into the camera, while sharing a half-embrace. A python is lounging casually on Soman's neck with not a single shred of clothing worn by the duo. They do have Tuff sneakers adorning their feet. The meltdown was iconic. The term NSFW wasn't even around in popular lingo back then, and yet it was a 'not safe for work' ad that had everyone offended—women's rights organisations to political parties and animal rights activists. But that only fanned the fire of desire for Soman brighter. While Soman showed his hand all at once, Khatter has been a slow-burn. As the popular catchphrase goes, 'understand the chronology'. The actor has both a good physique and acting prowess. He impressed audiences with his performance in Mira Nair's A Suitable Boy (2020). Starring opposite the ethereal Tabu, he made love look giddy and poetic all at once. It was in 2024 when the murder mystery The Perfect Couple dropped, and the audience had a voyeuristic glimpse of Amelia (Eve Hewson) watching Shooter (Khatter) come out of the swimming pool. That made everyone sit up and take notice of the other offerings of the actor. Right after that, Khatter appeared with his abs half-covered with dry soil on the cover of The Dirty Magazine, with another picture inside that could be the real reason for global warming—Khatter in a pair of Calvin Klein boxers and wrapped in a wet white cloth, with light accentuating his toned torso. He hit a hat-trick with his latest role as Prince Aviraaj Singh in The Royals. In the show, Soman plays his father who passes the mantle to Khatter's character, and now the same has happened off-screen too. We have a worthy successor to Soman, and he is just getting warmed up. Views are personal. (Edited by Aamaan Alam Khan)

Don 3: Ranveer Singh, Vikrant Massey To Begin Shoot For Farhan Akhtar's Film In Sept

Last Updated: Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have cast Ranveer Singh as the lead in Don 3, taking over from Shah Rukh Khan. News18 Showsha was the first one to report that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have roped in Ranveer Singh to play the titular character in Don 3. The baton was passed on to the Ram-Leela and Padmaavat actor from superstar Shah Rukh Khan and while many felt that the former won't be able to do justice to the part, others were excited to see Ranveer in this brand new role. Having said that, an announcement video featuring Ranveer was unveiled in 2023, which created a lot of ripples. The film, which was supposed to go on floors last year, went on to face multiple delays due to a variety of reasons. One of them being Farhan kick-starting the shoot of 120 Bahadur. Keeping up with his commitment to the makers of the film, he wanted to wrap it up before taking Don 3 to the floors. But seems like the time for the shoot of the much-awaited film is almost here! A well-placed source exclusively tells us, 'Farhan is nearing the end of 120 Bahadur. Ranveer has also finished shooting for a major portion of Dhurandar. And so, they wouldn't want to wait any longer before beginning filming for Don 3. The first schedule is scheduled for September this year. Both Ranveer and Vikrant Massey, who plays the antagonist, will be a part of it." However, it's still unclear if the female lead will be a part of this schedule. But this also means that Vikrant will start shooting for Dostana 2 next year. Earlier, a source had told us that his schedule for Karan Johar's film is dependent on Don 3 and that if the latter doesn't start this year, then Vikrant would shoot for Dostana 2 in September. As for the female lead of Don 3, there's still some certainty, but it's Sharvari and Kriti Sanon who are in contention. A while back, Farhan had stated that Don 3 is sure to go on floors this year. Interestingly, this film will also mark Ranveer and Vikrant's reunion after Dil Dhadakne Do. The duo had shared screen space in Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera in 2013 too. However, this is the first time that they'll be seen locking horns onscreen. 'Be assured that there will be a lot of stylised action sequences, including bike chases, between the duo. Vikrant, who has pretty much been the darling of heartland cinema, will be seen in a brand new avatar in Don 3, leaving fans surprised," our source adds. First Published:

Deepika Padukone says Ranveer Singh let her ‘take the lead' about having a baby, told her ‘whenever you feel ready'; couple took 2 months to decide Dua's name

Actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot in November 2018, and the couple have been setting high standards for companionship ever since. In a new interview, Deepika spoke about Ranveer's support and shared that he told her to 'take the lead' in deciding when the couple would have kids. Ranveer also discussed that Deepika has been prioritising their daughter, even before her health. Yes, it's a together decision, but eventually it's your body that's going to go through it. So whenever you feel ready'.' Deepika also recalled how they decided their daughter's name was Dua and how they took around two months to settle on a name, as it was not their first priority. 'I think what was more important for us was to first hold the baby in our arms, allow her to sort of see this new world she's come into, and allow her personality to start developing a little bit.' She shared that she texted her husband with the name 'Dua' in the middle of the night while he was on a shoot, and he immediately jumped on the idea. 'It felt like a beautiful summary of what she means to us and why she means what she means to us,' she said. Ranveer also shared his thoughts on Deepika's stint as a mother and shared with the publication that 'this is the best version of Deepika I have ever known. As it is often said, 'The way you do one thing is the way you do everything.' That holds true in the case of Deepika as a mother. She is completely present. Absolutely immersed. Extremely attentive, sensitive, caring, and beautifully gentle.' He also said that ever since Deepika has become a mother, everything else has taken a back seat. He shared, 'Everything in Deepika's life now revolves around Dua. Everything else comes secondary, sometimes even her own health.' Deepika did clarify that she is slowly getting better at taking care of herself, while juggling motherhood and her career. On the professional front, both Deepika and Ranveer were last seen in Singham Again. They have also worked alongside each other on many projects, such as 83, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Ram-Leela.
