Overcoming labour shortage in Vietnam: Tra Ly Hung Yen Spinning

Fibre2Fashion13-06-2025
It's hard to find skilled operators for spinning mills in Vietnam. Rapid industrialization is creating competition for young talents and many workers choose roles in other industries. Customer Tra Ly Hung Yen has found a partner in Trützschler to help mitigate the effects of this labor shortage and enable successful operations.
Tra Ly, facing labour shortages in Vietnam's spinning sector, partnered with Trí¼tzschler for automation solutions. With advanced machines like T-SCAN TS-T5, TC 19i, TD-10, and TCO 21XL, Tra Ly ensures consistent quality and higher productivity. Trí¼tzschler's local support and My Mill system further help Tra Ly stay competitive and future-ready.
Traditionally, yarn manufacturers need many experienced and qualified workers. However, it is difficult to attract and retain these operators. In addition, raw material fluctuations add extra challenges for all spinners. In order to produce yarn with consistent quality, it is necessary to make precise adjustments to the processing system – and this requires trained employees. A major headache for businesses in quality-driven markets like Vietnam!
Tra Ly is one of those businesses. The company's success is built on a longstanding reputation for quality, so labor shortages generated a potential threat to its future. The family-owned company mainly produces carded and combed cotton (Ne 20 to Ne 40) through standard and compact spinning methods. It has a production capacity of 60 tons per day, with half of that output exported to China, Pakistan or Bangladesh. To find a solution to its labor shortage, the Tra Ly team contacted its trusted partners at Trützschler.
The answer from Trützschler: Highly automated, self-optimizing machinery that helps to maintain consistent quality – even when processing raw materials of varying qualities. This reduces the need for manual intervention. As Do Thi Lan Phuong, Director of Tra Ly, points out: 'Innovations from Trützschler offer efficient handling that frees up time for our employees. In this way, we are able to cope with labor shortages. These machines enable higher productivity, improved sliver evenness and more energy-efficient manufacturing. And working together with Trützschler is always a great experience because of their deep expertise, can-do attitude and positive energy.'
Automatized and optimized
Tra Ly now operates the following advanced technologies from Trützschler:
1. T-SCAN TS-T5: High-quality foreign part separation
This foreign part separator uses state-of-the-art sensors and image-processing technology to detect foreign parts like stems, leaf fragments or other waste – and then automatically ejects them to minimize fiber loss. The highly efficient machine is also easy to clean and maintain, even when production is running.
2. The intelligent card TC 19i with T-GO
Tra Ly is also benefiting from the TC 19i with T-GO, which is the world's only proven automatic gap optimizer for carding machines. It increases quality and flexibility by self-adjusting to ensure the best possible carding gap settings in real time, even when raw materials or other production conditions fluctuate.
3. Autoleveller Draw Frame TD-10
Automated functions like AUTO DRAFT and OPTI SET enable this draw frame to ensure excellent yarn quality by self-optimizing the break draft and drafting point in real time. These innovations help machine operators to adapt settings for various raw material types.
4. Boosting productivity: The 12-head comber TCO 21XL
This machine increases productivity by about 50% because it operates 12 heads instead of a typical eight head setup, while delivering the same excellent quality. Features like COUNT MONITORING perform automatic checks on sliver count variations from a given limit, thus contributing to consistent quality.
Local expertise and fast support
Trützschler's local team of technical experts, along with its well-stocked spare parts inventory and repair facilities in Vietnam, ensure that Tra Ly maintains high levels of productivity with reliable quality. This expert team provides fast responses based on indepth knowledge. As a result, Tra Ly can rely on outstanding customer service – and downtime is kept to a minimum. The team from Trützschler is even available to suggest process improvements and potential digital optimizations.
Fit for the future
Tra Ly recently installed My Mill, Trützschler's mill monitoring system. Based on real-time data from My Mill, Trützschler experts can conduct digital audits to provide on-site guidance, training and troubleshooting. Trützschler is looking forward to continuing to support Tra Ly. The Vietnamese company is excited about the ongoing collaboration, too. 'Working together with Trützschler is always a great experience because of their deep expertise, can-do attitude, and positive energy,' says Do Thi Lan Phuong, Director of Tra Ly. ChatGPT goes desi: New ₹399 subscription with GPT-5, OpenAI now allows UPI payments in Indian currency

OpenAI has rolled out a new subscription tier for its ChatGPT service in India, namedChatGPT Go. The plan, priced at ₹ 399 per month inclusive of GST, is being launched first in India before potentially expanding to other markets. Nick Turley, Vice President and head of the ChatGPT app, said in a post on X that the new plan offers Indian users higher usage limits, including ten times more messages, image generations and file uploads compared with the free version, along with twice the memory capacity. Turley also confirmed that Indian users will now be able to view subscription prices in rupees and make payments through UPI. 'Making ChatGPT more affordable has been a key ask from users,' he noted, adding that the company would gather feedback from the Indian market before taking the product elsewhere. According to OpenAI, the Go plan provides access to GPT-5, faster image creation, longer memory, and support for projects, tasks and custom GPTs, though deep research tools remain limited compared with higher-tier plans. The new tier sits between the free and Plus options. The free plan offers restricted use of GPT-5, with limited file uploads, slower image generation, and minimal memory. The Plus plan, priced at ₹ 1,999 per month, includes advanced reasoning with GPT-5, expanded tools, and access to Sora video generation and Codex agent features. At the top end, OpenAI's Pro subscription is priced at ₹ 19,900 per month, offering unlimited access to GPT-5, expanded memory and research capabilities, and early access to experimental features.

Why Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs Must Wake Up to Tax Department and Interpol's Collaboration

The Income Tax department's recent move to collaborate with Interpol in tracking down Indian tax evaders hiding assets abroad is more than just a headline. It's a shot across the bow – not just for habitual offenders, but for the entire business ecosystem. Seeing from both a legal standpoint and an entrepreneurial mind, this moment calls for sharp legal awareness and sharper business integrity. What happened and why it matters India's I-T department is now actively using Letters Rogatory (judicial requests to foreign jurisdictions) and coordinating with Interpol to unearth undisclosed overseas assets. In plain terms: the age of 'out of sight, out of reach' is over. This isn't just about tracking down fugitives. It's about signaling to the business community – especially those with global footprints – that scrutiny doesn't end at our borders. Offshore trusts, layered shell companies and nominee shareholders are no longer safe bets. The message is clear: if your money crossed the borders without a tax trail, the law might just follow. From a businessperson's lens Reassess your offshore structures: Many global entrepreneurs and legacy businesses have genuine international operations these days. However, if you're holding onto outdated offshore models that were set up to 'optimise' taxes without substance, now is the time to rethink. What once passed as creative structuring may now attract regulatory suspicion. Embrace compliance as a strategic asset: Today, compliance isn't just a legal checkbox – it's a reputation safeguard. Clients, investors and regulators now demand visibility. The companies that survive and scale in this new era will be the ones that view transparency as part of their brand, not just their books. Get ahead of the curve with voluntary disclosures: If there are skeletons in the closet – undeclared assets, foreign income, or structures that haven't been updated in years — the worst move is silence. The better move is proactive engagement with your advisors. In some cases, voluntary disclosures can reduce penalties or avoid prosecution. Digital footprints matter: The authorities are using more sophisticated data-matching tools than ever. Cross-border banking info, crypto transactions, property registries – everything leaves a trail. If your tax strategy relies on opacity, it's time to pivot. Build a legal-first mindset into your business DNA: Whether you're a startup scaling globally or a legacy company managing international assets, your legal strategy needs to be as agile as your business plan. Surround yourself with advisors who understand international tax, compliance frameworks and enforcement trends. Governance vs nuisance While these measures are towards governance which seeks to create stability and transparency and helps to crack down the tax evasion case, it is important to note that these regulations could also lead to a nuisance which could create disorder or harm the genuine cases. While the government has been given wide power to crack down the undisclosed foreign offshore assets, what is important is that it ensures that these powers are used to crack the tax evaders rather than genuine cases where there is a lapse due to oversight or noncompliance due to ignorance or where there is no wilful default. A legal-entrepreneurial future This shift isn't a threat – it's a wake-up call. And for the discerning entrepreneur, it's an opportunity. An opportunity to build more resilient, transparent, future-proof enterprises. An opportunity to clean up the grey zones and invest in governance that travels well across borders. As someone who straddles the worlds of law and business, I see this as a defining moment. The global legal landscape is evolving. The businesses that survive it will be those who evolve with it — not just legally, but culturally. Let this be a moment of reflection, not fear. The law is finally catching up with the global economy. Namisha Gupta is a Delhi based lawyer.
