MasterChef Australia: Back To Win came to a close for 2025 with a thrilling grand finale on Tuesday night.
Laura Sharrad went up against Callum Hann in a nail-biting final episode that saw two of the show's most beloved contestants duke it out over two courses.
By the end of the episode, Laura emerged as the winner, and walks away with a $250,000 cash prize and the title of MasterChef.
'This is the most surreal feeling in the whole entire world,' Laura said as she broke down over the good news.
'I'm truly so proud of myself for coming back for a third time and completely setting myself up for heartbreak,' she continued.
'And pulling off what I never thought I really could do, but I've wanted to for so long. I've dreamt of this moment since I was 13.
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win came to a close for 2025 with a thrilling grand finale on Tuesday night. Laura Sharrad went up against Callum Hann in a nail-biting final episode that saw two of the show's most beloved contestants duke it out over two courses
'To have my family here, watching me cook, has been the most truly special experience of my life,' Laura explained.
'I just want to thank Callum, more than anyone. Just the support that you've shown me throughout this competition both times has been so truly special. So thank you so much for everything.'
There was an additional touching moment as judge Andy Allen told Laura that the spirit of late judge Jock Zonfrillo lived on through her cooking.
Callum was awarded $10,000 for coming in second place.
First, the cooks faced off in a tense challenge that saw them tasked with creating a dish using potato and rosemary.
Laura went for a potato risotto with samphire and pipis, while Callum created one-bite oyster chips.
In an unprecedented result, the pair went into round two tied for first place, each getting a score of 38 out of 40 for their seafood dishes.
The second round was a pressure test which saw the contestants recreate the 'Botanical Garden' dessert from renowned pastry chef Miko Aspiras.
'I've dreamt of this moment since I was 13,' Laura said as she broke down
It was a challenging and emotional three-hour cook, with both Callum and Laura breaking down in tears once they finished the 149-step process.
Laura became tearful once more as she revealed how proud she was to achieve what she had on the show while also being a busy mum.
Laura's version of the dessert was close, but some elements, such as her aloe vera twig, were imperfect.
Overall, the judges felt she had 'smashed it out of the park' - albeit with minor flaws.
Callum faced the panel next, and admitted that he was immensely grateful to be part of the show.
His version of Miko's dessert was less of a hit with the judges, who said his ganache was too thick - and his profiteroles were uneven.
However, he did better on the aloe vera element than Laura, with his chocolate well tempered and his visual presentation praised for his attention to detail.
Callum got a score of 35 out of 40 for his dessert, with his final score for the night was 73.
Laura got a score of 36 out of 40 for her dessert, with her final score for the episode ringing in at 74.
On Monday, the contestant kicked out just short of vying for the Back To Win crown was revealed.
Laura, Callum and Jamie Fleming went head-to-head in a challenge that required them to make a three-course menu for 20 people.
In the end, it was Jamie who fell short, after his overly ambitious menu left him having to make multiple substitutions to finish on time.
While he missed out on the $250,000 prize, Jamie did win $10,000 in travel vouchers.

Costeen Hatzi opens up on public breakup with tennis firebrand Nick Kyrgios and what she regrets about their time together

Costeen Hatzi had to endure the pain of a breakup being played out in public, but she found her own strength and has now spoken out about her high profile split from Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios. Hatzi is an Australian influencer and interior design graduate known for her strong social media presence, with over 174K followers on Instagram alone. However it was her high-profile relationship with tennis star Nick Kyrgios that really put her in the spotlight for most Australians. Hatzi and Kyrgios began dating in late 2021, with the tennis star confirming their relationship on Instagram in December that year. She quickly became a constant figure courtside, supporting him through the 2022 Australian Open where his fiery on-court antics drew headlines. Their relationship was often in the spotlight, with Kyrgios publicly praising Hatzi while also facing criticism for his behaviour during matches. Hatzi was a constant courtside presence during the 2022 Australian Open as Kyrgios drew headlines for his fiery play In early 2023, rumours of tension surfaced, fuelled by Kyrgios's absence from tournaments due to injury and speculation about their future. By mid-2024, Hatzi confirmed their split. Now she has spoken about the public breakup, the pain, and the healing she has needed to do since they parted ways. And Hatzi has also revealed the lengths she went to in order to keep Kyrgios happy, and the regrets she has from their time together. 'I was fully supportive,' she told News Corp. 'I went to all the tournaments. I was doing everything behind the scenes – his washing, his cooking … everything. 'I was happy to, because I loved him and we had a great relationship at the time. So I don't regret anything that I've done.' Hatzi said she had used the last year to work on her own career out of Kyrgios' shadow, which she admitted was tough at times. 'It's different now. I have all this time for myself. I'm in a really reflective but motivated place. It has definitely been a bit of an adjustment, but I mentally prepared myself for that; it wasn't a shock,' she said. 'This year has been like a transition period. Of course there are days where, you know, I'm not a hundred per cent happy, but I feel like I've been headstrong, and I have a positive outlook on life. 'Going through a break-up isn't going to tear me down or upset me too much. I just need to look forward and throw myself into work, throw myself into fitness – and that's what I've been doing, really. 'I have a lot of time on my hands now so I'm trying to grow and expand my business,' she says. 'I've been leaning deeper into my career with fashion and beauty and content creation. 'It's a big focus for me – building a brand that's accessible and empowering, and style forward for women. 'That chapter of my life was meaningful and I'm grateful for the memories and the growth that came with it. You know, life changes. 'And so do people. I'm really just embracing this next chapter of rediscovery and independence and building something that's truly mine.' And Hatzi credited her family and friends for giving her the strength to carry on after the breakdown of the long-term relationship in the public eye. 'They've given me great advice to just focus on myself and be the classier person when it comes to the break-up,' she said. 'I've really taken that on board, because I don't want to ruin his name. Sometimes my emotions get the better of me, but then I remember that it's not in my nature to say anything bad about him. 'We still had a beautiful relationship, even though things didn't turn out the way [I'd hoped]. I've found peace within myself, and I hope he's happy. I don't wish bad upon him at all.'

Inside Sydney Sweeney's wild boozy night out as she continues to blow off American Eagle controversy

Sydney Sweeney had a boozy night out with friends and she shared the photos from the wild experience on Instagram. The event took place inside a crowded venue as the Euphoria actress held up a tray of shots to hand out to her pals. The movie star had her blonde hair down with a fresh tropical tan as she smiled from ear to ear. She was also seen with a microphone on a stage. Hollywood's latest 'it' girl wore a farm-girl style white cotton crop top that flashed her toned tummy as she added oversized blue denim jeans and white sneakers. She was surrounded by hot men and pretty friends who were dressed to party the night away. 'Duval diaries,' was all the star wrote in her Instagram caption. Sweeney split from her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, eight months ago after they started dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2022. This comes on the heels of Sweeney's American Eagle drama. The A-list actress is the face of the label's autumn advertising rollout, which has the tagline, 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.' American Eagle said the actress did nothing wrong with their ads after they were branded 'Nazi propaganda' by woke critics. Some saw her 'great jeans' campaign to be a remark on her genetic background which is mixed European ancestry; she grew up in rural Idaho. The phrase 'great genes' is 'historically used to celebrate whiteness, thinness and attractiveness,' which it said made 'this campaign seem to be a tone-deaf marketing move,' a Salon report on the backlash read. Others found the link 'ridiculous' and thought the ads were just fine. '"Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans" is and always was about the jeans,' the company said on Instagram. 'Her jeans. her story,' it was added. 'We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.' In a series of images, the Spokane, Washington-born beauty - who is set to play boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic - is seen modeling a variety of denim-based ensembles. In an accompanying video, Sydney is seen buttoning up her jeans as she muses: 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality and even eye colour... my genes are blue'. A second advert sees the camera pan down Sydney's chest as she models a plunging denim jumpsuit. She muses: 'My body's composition is determined by my genes...' before exclaiming: 'Hey, eyes up here' as the camera cuts back to her face. The advert has divided fans, however, with one critic calling the clip 'one of the loudest and most obvious racialized dog whistles we've seen and heard in a while.' Taking to social media, many expressed their shock at messaging, which they aligned to Nazi propaganda. Outraged fans penned: 'So Sydney (& American Eagle) somehow expect audiences to not interpret this visual as a euphemism for eugenics and white supremacy?' Some saw her 'great jeans' campaign to be a remark on her genetic background which is mixed European ancestry; she grew up in rural Idaho 'The Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad campaign is just modern day Nazi propaganda. Like it's wild how blatant it is. Things are weird right now, man.'; 'the most nazi part of the Sydney sweeney add for me was the use of the word offspring'; ''Jeans (Genes) are past down from parent to offspring' 'My jeans (genes) are blue' 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans (genes)' Nothing is ever a coincidence, this is eugenics'; TikTok named Angie under the handle @vital_media_marketing then reviewed the ad and pointed out what she felt were problematic elements with the underlying message. Angie said: 'As it's panning up her body and on her face and her features, she's literally talking about her family tree and the genetics that have been handed down to her, her blonde hair and her blue eyes, and how great they are.' Many people panned the tone of the ad campaign on American Eagle's Instagram page, as one user quipped, It's giving "Subtle 1930's Germany."' Yet many were quick to defend Sydney, branding the backlash 'unhinged'. They shared on X/Twitter: 'I'm not sure how to say this nicely but if you think a jeans ad with a pun about Sydney Sweeney being pretty is a nazi dogwhistle you genuinely need to put the phone down for a while.'; 'everyone is seriously reading too much into this and y'all need to go take a hike or something because sydney sweeney is literally just promoting jeans, not 'nazi propaganda''; 'The claim that Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad is pro-eugenics because of a 'good genes/jeans' pun is genuinely unhinged. It's a denim campaign, not a manifesto. Not every blonde with blue eyes is a Nazi. Some of you need a history book — and a nap'; 'You guys don't have to like Sydney Sweeney or the ways she promotes herself but don't you think comparing those Jean commercials to nazi propaganda is a tad extreme?' Sweeney said in a July 23 news release about the fall campaign: 'There is something so effortless about American Eagle.' She said of the clothier: 'It's the perfect balance of being put-together but still feeling like yourself.'

BBC show that 'cost £30,000,000 axed after just one season'

Survivor has reportedly been cancelled by the BBC after just one season on the air. The new version of the reality show hit screens in 2023 in a primetime Saturday night slot with comedian Joel Dommett at the helm – and reportedly cost the broadcaster £30,000,000 to produce. Survivor saw 18 people compete in a series of challenges on a desert island to win £100,000, just as the original noughties show had tasked contestants with. Yet the programme struggled to attract viewers. Survivor was reportedly in jeopardy as soon as after the first episode aired on the BBC, because it only attracted 2.6 million viewers on average, despite airing in the post-Strictly Saturday slot. The ratings were around two million less than the numbers Michael McIntyre's The Wheel pulled in the week prior – which allegedly prompted crisis talks among TV execs at the time. Joel told The Sun: 'It just shows you how nothing is a given in telly. I thought Survivor would be huge. I thought that would be my job for the next 20 years. 'I've done shows and thought that's not coming back and it keeps coming back and then you do something like Survivor, which you think is guaranteed and it doesn't come back.' More Trending Joel told Metro last year he remained hopeful Survivor would return for a second season – although he admitted it needed an overhaul. He said: 'Fingers crossed… there's a lot of stuff that we would do slightly differently. Like with every first series, it's hard, so I think a second series would be amazing. 'Everyone seems to really love it, so I'm excited that – hopefully – [we get to] do another one.' View More » Metro contacted the BBC for comment. Got a story?
