BBC News8 hours ago

Manchester City midfielder Rodri is "very happy" to be playing again but accepts it will be "months" before he returns to his top level. The Ballon d'Or winner was Pep Guardiola's most noticeable absentee last season after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury, but he is making positive steps in his recovery before next season. He says he feels "very strong" and is excited to build up his minutes and fitness during the Club World Cup in America."I feel very good, and very happy to be here," he said. "An amazing tournament to start playing football again and I am really excited to join the team on the pitch."That's the most important thing."This [the Club World Cup] is a massive opportunity for me to come back."I feel very, very strong to be honest. The process [of recovery] was long, but I was taking my time and said that the most important thing was to keep focus and don't be sad or whatever."I knew one day I'll come back and this day has finally come. I'm very excited to play again."And though it's going to still be months until I reach my level, I am so happy."Rodri replaced Nico Gonzalez after an hour in Monday's rout over Al Ain and is likely to feature against Juventus on Thursday after Guardiola hinted the heat will prompt rotation in his City XI.
