Marques'Almeida Fall 2025 Ready-to-Wear Collection
On the makeshift runway, the Marques'Almeida collection looks a little more sophisticated than usual. 'It's not a traditionally elegant collection,' offered Almeida, calling in from his studio hours before departing for a well-deserved August holiday, 'but it is a little more grown-up, we were so young when we started!'
To Almeida's point, there was nothing too formal about the designers' new take on elegance. For starters, they showed it outside, surrounded by nature and grass, which informed the more pragmatic footwear choices. Few designers can make a convincing peplum these days—one that doesn't look like something out of 2012, that is—but here they were available in spades. Evening volumes and fabrications were oftentimes paired with grungy acid-wash denim or fashioned into relaxed, unfussy shapes (including some great pajama-like sets). The OG Marques'Almeida spirit remains intact, even if the designers themselves have matured.
'We made some things we wouldn't have done or thought about at first,' Almeida said, speaking of the lineup's long, embellished sheaths and the cutesy flared skirts. Age looks good on them—who wouldn't want to be a plus-one wherever those funky drapes and ballooning blouses are headed come fall?

Law Roach Is, Hands Down, The Best Part Of "Project Runway"
Earlier this month, Project Runway returned to our screen with some new and familiar faces. Most notably, Heidi Klum has returned as host and judge of the notable series. Nina Garcia, editor-in-chief of Elle Magazine, is also a returning face. Christian Siriano, Season 4 winner and acclaimed fashion designer, returns this season as the designers' mentor (replacing Tim Gunn). Related: Last, but certainly not least, to round out the panel of permanent judges is none other than celebrity stylist and image architect, Law Roach. As a long-time fan of both the series AND of Law, I was excited to see what kind of energy he'd bring to the table and, let's just say, he BRINGS IT. Law has never shied away from speaking his truth, and speak his truth he does! I want to be Law Roach when I grow up. In the Season 21 premiere, the designers were broken up into teams — House of (Disney) Villains and House of (Disney) Princesses. House of Villains took home the W this week, and it's so cool to have Law on the panel because he can speak not only to the now, but also to who is relevant. Like, as a designer, I obviously want my clothes to be well received, but to have a celeb stylist want to put a famous person in my clothes? Chef's kiss. Law also has an amazing eye for detail! Nothing gets past Law! Related: "Hate is such a big word." "It's a short word. It's only four letters." LAW!! Gooped and gagged. "Nigerian auntie" took me out. AND THIS WAS ONE OF THE TOP LOOKS! As a Nigerian woman / future Nigerian auntie, I see what Law meant and I have to say, I completely agree. In a full circle moment, Law was brutal — but honest! — in regards to Jesus' look last week. The following week? Law gave credit where credit was due! This goes to show that it's not personal, it's fashion! A look is a look is a look! Law was quick to hone in on one of the looks from the losing collection. Law said, "there will be no cultural appropriation on my watch!" I will start saying this: Say it louder, Law! "It's not called America's Next Top Best Friend." The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been filming across New York City, after all, so it's not entirely far-fetched. Before Sydney's spotting, Anne Hathaway and Patrick Brammall were photographed shooting scenes at the Long Island Bar in Brooklyn on August 5. And, on July 29, she was filming with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt in Hudson Yards. Sydney's involvement in the film has yet to be confirmed, but the buzz around her potential Devil Wears Prada role comes after she pulled up to the premiere of her latest film, Americana, alongside Halsey. She also has a few films slated for release later this year, including The Housemaid with Amanda Seyfried and a biopic about pro boxer Christy Martin. 'Christy Martin has been such an incredible transformation—physically, mentally, and emotionally. It's been one of the most immersive transformations I've ever made, and being able to have Christy on set with me almost every day has been inspiring and so emotional at the same time,' Sydney exclusively told Cosmopolitan of the film in February. She also shared details about her last day on set for the upcoming flick, adding, 'I remember on the last day, we were all crying and it was such a beautiful experience. It was also empowering to see someone who's gone through so much, sitting there and watching her life be performed and put together on a big screen.'
