Manager Gurban Gurbanov has been in charge for 18 years and his squad also provides the backbone of the Azerbaijan national team - five that featured against Hungary last week were Qarabag players.
Shelbourne know that victory over Linfield will also guarantee them the 'champions path' which means they are guaranteed three more ties even if they lose.
That route guarantees €1.75 million in prize money and it can rise to €3.87 million if they win one tie, as it guarantees Conference League group stages at least.
But defeat to Linfield would see Shelbourne parachuted into the Conference League second round and needing to win three consecutive ties to make the group stages.

If the Reds are in the Conference League, they will have a tie with Lithuanians Zalgiris or Maltese outfit Hamrun Spartans with the first leg due to be away on July 24 and home on July 31.
But the pick of the Conference League ties for Irish clubs is the potential meeting between Shamrock Rovers and Belfast outfit Cliftonville.

The Hoops enter the competition at the second round phase by virtue of their high ranking which saw them given a first round bye following Drogheda United's expulsion.
But they will now watch the first round closely as they face the winners of Cliftonville or Gibraltar outfit St Joesph's - who Shelbourne beat last year.

St Patrick's Athletic also learnt they will face Kalju of Estonia or Partizani of Albania if they beat Hegelmann of Lithuania in the first round of the Conference League with the first leg at home.
But the three Dublin clubs could potentially see ties and dates move as UEFA do not allow clubs to play on the same day in the same city.
That is potentially a problem for Rovers and Shels, but also because of a potential clash between Cliftonville and Linfield as well.

Ireland suffer comprehensive defeat to Australia

IRELAND SUFFERED A 6-1 defeat to Australia in the teams' second FIH Pro League encounter in Antwerp today. Mark Tumilty's men were beaten by the same scoreline against the Aussies on Tuesday. A decent start saw Ireland level with the current FIH Pro League title holders and the world-ranked number five side in the early stages. Advertisement Lee Cole scored from a penalty corner to equalise, after Nathan Ephraums opened the scoring. But Jeremy Hayward soon restored the Kookaburra's lead through a penalty corner of their own, before Ephraums extended his side's advantage. Craig Marais capitalised on a defensive error to score his side's fourth before Davis Atkin added a fifth after Jonny Lynch had been yellow-carded for a collision in the middle of the park. Ky Willott made it six in the final quarter, but the game had long since become a formality. The victory moves Australia to second in the FIH Pro League table behind leaders The Netherlands. 'We let ourselves down playing with 10 players for large parts,' Ireland captain Kyle Marshall said afterwards. 'A couple of green and yellow cards that we have to be disappointed with ourselves for receiving. We know that teams will hurt you when you are playing with one less player. 'We definitely applied ourselves well during those periods, but the longer you are in those periods, the more you are open to conceding goals, and little mistakes compound.' Ireland play their final two FIH Pro League matches of the 2024-25 season against Spain on 21 and 22 June at 9.30am Irish time. Both games will be available to watch live on the TG4 player.

Man City ease into Club World Cup campaign

PHIL FODEN scored inside two minutes to set Manchester City on the way to a comfortable 2-0 win against Wydad Casablanca in their opening match at the Club World Cup on Wednesday. Jeremy Doku was also on target before half-time at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where the majority of the 37,446 crowd were supporting City, but most of the noise was made by the fans of the Moroccan side. The afternoon was slightly marred for City as Rico Lewis was sent off for a dangerous tackle late on, but Pep Guardiola will be satisfied to see his team get off to a winning start. City have come to the Club World Cup eager to turn the page after a disappointing season domestically and in the Champions League. Tougher tests await than those provided by the team that finished third in the Moroccan league, with the English club next facing Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates before they complete Group G against Juventus. Guardiola used this occasion to field something of an experimental line-up, with new signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki making their debuts while teenage defender Vitor Reis started for just the third time since arriving in January. Advertisement This was always going to be a big ask for Wydad, whose coach Amine Benhachem was only appointed in the run-up to the Club World Cup. Their reinforcements for the tournament include a Brazilian defender signed on loan from the Portuguese second tier, a Dutch defender recruited from the Bosnian league, and 38-year-old Moroccan international Nordin Amrabat. French international creator Cherki was deployed in a floating central role for City close to Foden, and it was the England star who got the breakthrough in the second minute. Used sparingly in the final weeks of the Premier League campaign, Foden was perfectly placed to sweep the ball home inside the box after goalkeeper El Mehdi Benabid patted a Savinho centre out into his path. Wydad, who qualified as a recent winner of the CAF Champions League, were not cowed and did have chances to give their passionate support something to celebrate. - Cherki, Reijnders make debuts - When Cherki gave the ball away cheaply, Thembinkosi Lorch produced an audacious attempt to beat Ederson from inside his own half, but the Brazilian goalkeeper was able to save. South African forward Cassius Mailula then missed a fine opportunity after being set up by Lorch following a Reis error. Nathan Ake and Foden had chances for City before the latter set up the second goal in the 42nd minute as his corner from the right was headed in by Doku. Doku should then have done better after being left with just the goalkeeper to beat after pouncing on defensive hesitation early in the second half. There would be no more goals, but Guardiola made a raft of substitutions as the second half went on, including withdrawing Cherki, Doku and Foden on the hour mark as Rodri and Erling Haaland came on. They could come into the starting line-up against Al Ain in Atlanta on Sunday, but Lewis will not feature in that game. The 20-year-old right-back was shown a straight red card in the 88th minute by the Brazilian referee after catching Wydad substitute Samuel Obeng high up with his studs. – © AFP 2025
