Huma Abedin and her billionaire husband-to-be Alex Soros put on a united front as they walked the Met Gala 2025 red carpet after going viral for their very awkward photoshoot that was just published hours before.
The couple were among the celebrities in attendance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday evening, after they were mocked for appearing in a 'tone-deaf' magazine feature from The New Yorker.
Appearing at the star-studded event, Huma, 49, oozed glamor in a cream ruched corset with a black trailing black skirt.
She accessorized her ensemble with huge statement diamond earrings and a bold red lip.
Her partner, 39, wore a black suit and matched Huma's corset top by wearing a bow tie in the same color fabric.
Showing their unbreakable bond, Alex wrapped his arm around Huma's waist as they posed for photographers.
Their show of solidarity comes after they were ridiculed online earlier in the day, after they appeared in the article named 'Power Houses Inside the living rooms of notable New Yorkers' alongside the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Emily Ratajkowski.
In the piece, the couple showed off their ritzy high-rise apartment in NoHo with Alex positioned on the sofa as the political staffer stood beside him, holding his hand.
They were both dressed in a similar shade of green. Neither party was smiling.
The image went viral on social media shortly after, with users poking fun at Alex and his recent focus on fighting oligarchy and Trump while inside a plush pad with expansive views across the city.
They also hit out at the couple for appearing miserable.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one noted: 'Could they be farther apart?'
'Here's a prime example where money doesn't bring happiness,' another said.
A third added: 'Don't they look joyful.'
'Gosh how happy do they look,' wrote another.
A fifth said: 'Have you ever seen a more dismal pair? What is it, with these people, that they think this is appealing? Does this inspire you?'
Huma and Alex got engaged in June 2024 but kept it a secret until weeks later.
It wasn't until early July, after reports emerged that said they were getting married, that the couple confirmed they were indeed gearing up to walk down the aisle together.
'This happened… we couldn't be happier, more grateful, or more in love,' Alex wrote on his Instagram Stories at the time, alongside a snap from the moment he got down on one knee.
Huma was previously married to disgraced New York politician Anthony Weiner.
She and Alex, who has been named as the heir to his father's $25 billion empire, first revealed that they were dating on Valentine's Day, when they shared a PDA-filled snap from Paris.
They reportedly met through a mutual friend and have been traveling together over the summer.
They then made their red carpet debut when they attended the Met Gala together in May 2024.
Alex is the son of Hungarian-American businessman George Soros.
The 94-year-old billionaire is known for his philanthropy, with George having donated more than $32 billion to his organization Open Society Foundations, which gives grants to groups and individuals that promote democratic principles and human rights.
In addition to son Alex, George, who has been married three times, also has children Andrea, Gregory, Robert, and Jonathan.
