Rapid KL On-Demand Expands with 5 New Zones in Kajang, Putrajaya
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad group chief operating officer (Operations) Amir Hamdan said the latest zone expansion targets densely populated and rapidly developing urban areas.
'This is part of Rapid Bus' efforts to provide more flexible and convenient first-mile, last-mile travel solutions.
'In line with our commitment to sustainable mobility and promoting greater public transport usage, we will continue working to ensure the Rapid KL On-Demand service is more efficient and responsive to passenger demand,' he said in a statement today.
The zones available for booking via the Rapid On-Demand app include MRT Kwasa Sentral to Subang Bestari and Subang Skypark Terminal, served by four vans, and MRT Semantan to Menara DBKL, served by two vans.
For the MRT Metro Prima to Taman Beringin route, three vans will be used, MRT Putrajaya Sentral to Precinct 1 (three), and MRT Cyberjaya City Centre to the Cyberjaya area (five).
According to the statement, this expansion brings the total number of On-Demand zones along the Kajang and Putrajaya lines to 16, with 46 vans in operation. Across the Klang Valley, the service now operates in 60 zones with 162 vans.
The service offers guaranteed seating and is available for booking daily from 6 am to 11.30 pm via the Rapid On-Demand app, which can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The promotional fare of RM1 per ride remains in place, with accepted payment methods including debit or credit, Touch 'n Go and Kad Konsesi MyRapid cards, as well as OKU Smile and unlimited travel passes such as My50, MyCity, MyTourist, and Pas Famili.

More than 40 luxury car owners in Kelantan with expired road tax
KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Road Transport Department (RTD) has identified more than 40 owners of luxury cars who have failed to renew their road tax. State RTD director Mohd Misuari Abdullah said these individuals were among the more than 400 luxury vehicles, including those owned by local businesswomen, currently registered with the department. He added that the total value of these vehicles was estimated to be in the millions of ringgit. However, he said, most of the luxury cars, which include Lamborghinis and Ferraris worth millions each, were used outside the state, particularly in the Klang Valley. "In just 10 days, we managed to detain the owners of 16 luxury vehicles for failing to renew their road tax. "Likely, there are still many more owners who remain reluctant to renew them," he said. Misuari said that many of the vehicles were owned by entrepreneurs and businesspeople, including women entrepreneurs, who typically pay between RM3,000 and RM15,000 annually for road tax. "This amount is not considered high for them, as they can afford it, but many tend to be complacent. "Some assume enforcement officers will not check their luxury vehicles. This lack of concern often results in their vehicles being seized by RTD," he said. He warned that those driving without a valid road tax could be charged under Section 23(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a fine of up to RM2,000. For those without insurance, they can be charged under Section 90(1). The offence carries a fine of up to RM1,000, a jail term of up to three months, or both. Misuari said the department will continue with Op Khas Luxury to ensure only legal, safe, and registered vehicles are allowed on the roads.

High earners contributed bulk of RM37bil in income tax
KUALA LUMPUR: High-income earners contributed the bulk of the RM37.77 billion in individual income tax collected in 2023, the Dewan Rakyat was told. In a written parliamentary reply, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said those earning over RM100,000 a year accounted for 86 per cent of the total income tax revenue. The top 20 per cent of taxpayers, with taxable income of more than RM1 million, contributed one-fifth of the total collection. He said the government valued the contribution of high-income taxpayers to strengthening the country's fiscal position and was committed to addressing tax leakage involving undeclared assets, offshore income, cross-border transactions and online business activities. Efforts were also underway to improve tax administration efficiency through digitalisation and to raise public awareness, Anwar added. "The government greatly appreciates the role and contribution of high-income taxpayers in helping to boost economic stability and strengthen the fiscal position, so that national development can be carried out more equitably," he said in a written reply to Aminolhuda Hassan (PH-Sri Gading). Anwar said data on the number of individuals in Malaysia with a net worth of more than RM100 million was not available in the Inland Revenue Board's database, because wealth levels did not directly correspond with taxable income. This was in response to a question from Aminolhuda, who had asked for the number of individuals with a net worth exceeding RM100 million and how many from this group had paid more than RM1 million in income tax annually over the past five years. Anwar said certain assets, such as specific forms of property, were not subject to income tax unless they were sold or disposed of. He added that the structure and treatment of income tax were also continuously enhanced to ensure Malaysia's tax system remained fair and progressive.

RM1.1 million for village, school projects in Kampung Kiau
