Kippen schoolgirls raise thousands for charity in fundraising efforts
The Kippen Primary pals have already held a successful tea party - and now one of them is taking on a special abseil challenge from one of Scotland's most well-known attractions.
A pair of Kippen schoolgirls have helped raise more than £2,000 for a pair of charitable causes close to their hearts.
Orlagh McGookin-Davies and Lucy Wilson, who are Primary Seven pupils from Kippen Primary, held a tea party and an accompanying raffle last Sunday (May 17).
The pair and their families were quick to thank everyone for their 'incredible generosity' on the day after it raised a total of £1,396 on the day, with further donations coming in later.
But that isn't the end of their efforts, with Orlagh taking part in the Kelpie Challenge on July 13 to raise much needed funds to help support Strathcarron Hospice, in memory of her aunt Bibby who spent her final weeks there.
Orlagh has already exceeded her initial target of £500 for the challenge, but her JustGiving page will remain open until it all takes place in July.
The Kelpie Challenge sees participants climbing through a maze of ladders and suspended platforms inside the famous landmark near Falkirk, before either having the choice of a free hang abseil or a descent via the quick flight rope back to the ground.
Meanwhile Lucy is raising funds for MacMillan Cancer Support to help them offer vital support to families whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Lucy hopes that her fundraising efforts will help make a difference to someone when they need it most and her page will also remain open.

Despite the setback, Maya Jama has kept the hype for the new series alive. In a teaser that was released recently, the TV host can be seen in a fictional office, wearing a sleek outfit and surrounded by clocks set to the times in various Spanish cities. In the trailer, Maya says: "To the hottie this may concern, as per the last 11 series we're staying loyal to the entertainment and levelling up the twists. The stakeholders are aligned, the Islanders will be laying it on Factor 50, and we're on track to hit our KPI on drama. It's time to crack on and deliver serious results. Let's circle back soon. While ITV is keeping details about the contestants under wraps, two names have already been bandied about - 6'5' London-based personal trainer Aaron Beckett, and 20-year-old make-up artist Lucy Quinn from Liverpool. Beckett has already racked up a hefty following on Instagram and TikTok thanks to his impressive gym routines. A source told the Sun: "It's a fact of life that girls go crazy for a tall lad and Aaron is a man mountain. He's got great chat too." It's not yet known whether he'll arrive with the original line-up or drop in later as a bombshell. Meanwhile, Lucy has been tasked with stealing men away from their sweethearts in Casa Amor.
