
‘Robin' joins the Perambalur Detective Dog Squad
The male puppy belonging to the Labrador Retriever breed was purchased from Madurai to become the fresh addition to the Detective Dog Squad. It was christened 'Robin' by the Superintendent of Police, Perambalur, Adarsh Pachera.
Police sources said two handlers would take care of the puppy where it would be provided basic training in obedience and other aspects till September. It will be sent for specialised training in detection of narcotic substances in October either to Chennai or Coimbatore or Madurai, the sources said.
The specialised training will be on detection of narcotics substances on board vehicles, besides human search, building, and ground searches, the sources added. The Detective Dog Squad of Perambalur Police presently had two detective dogs - one trained in detecting explosive substances and the other for detection of crimes.

Highway robbery: three from Kerala detained under Goondas Act
Provisions of Goondas Act were invoked against three persons from Kerala, who were arrested by the Coimbatore District (Rural) Police for robbing a Thrissur-based goldsmith of ₹30 lakh on Salem – Kochi Highway (NH 544) near Ettimadai in July. The detainees have been identified as Maneesh Kuttappan, 31, from Mattoor, Vishnu Vidyadharan, 32, from Okkal, and Joseph David, 26, from Manjapra in Ernakulam district. The trio was part of the gang that targeted K. Jayan, 50, a goldsmith from Wadakkanchery in Thrissur, when he was heading to his native with the cash on a motorcycle on July 12. They waylaid the goldsmith on a flyover on the highway at Ettimadai junction. They pulled him into their car and left him on the highway around one km away after robbing him of the cash. The K.G. Chavadi police launched an investigation and arrested the accused in the case. Acting on the recommendations of Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar invoked the provisions of Goondas Act against the three accused. The detention orders were served on them in the prison on Monday.

Woman, lover nabbed for killing husband in Rajasthan; body found in blue drum
Last Updated: Jaipur, Aug 19 (PTI) A woman and her lover were arrested in connection with the murder of her husband in Kheirathal Tijara district here, police said on Tuesday. Laxmi Devi, the wife of Hansram, and her lover Jitendra Sharma, the son of the married couple's landlord, were nabbed Monday night, they said. The two, who had decamped after dumping Hansram's body in a plastic tank, confessed to the crime during questioning, police said. The incident that took place in the Kishangarhbas Police Station area came to light on Sunday. Superintendent of Police Manish Chaudhary said the two were detained from a brick kiln in Alwada village of Alwar district. 'Initial investigations indicate that Laxmi and Jitendra plotted the murder in a bid to conceal their affair. The victim, Hansram, was killed on the night of August 15. The body was later found inside a blue plastic drum on the roof of their rented accommodation," he said. Laxmi had borrowed the drum from her landlord, saying she needed it to store water. The couple's three children, whom Laxmi and Jitendra had taken away with them, were restored to their grandfather, the SP said. Devender shared Army cantt details with Pak over video call: Police chargesheet
1 2 Jind: In the espionage case involving 25-year-old Devender Singh, Haryana Police have filed a chargesheet in a Kaithal court, citing strong evidence of his alleged links to Pakistan. According to sources, the 136-page chargesheet is backed by a 2TB hard disk containing digital evidence. Investigators claim Devender used video calls to show sensitive areas around the Patiala Cantonment to individuals in Pakistan. He also allegedly transferred a small sum of money to an Indian account on their instructions, though police have not disclosed the amount or recipient. On May 13, Haryana police arrested Devender from Mastgarh village in Kaithal district on charges of spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI after a Facebook post related to illegal weapons drew police attention. The next hearing is scheduled for July 30. Kaithal superintendent of police Aastha Modi said Devender sent confidential information related to the Indian Army, including Operation 'Sindoor', to Pakistan.
