‘Making a fool of us': Sakamoto Days manga faces reader backlash as tunnel effect debate heats up online
Whether it's the anime or the manga, Sakamoto Days has consistently kept fans engaged with its plot. However, it has also faced some backlash along the way. Most recently, the manga left readers a little furious. On June 8, 2025, chapter 216 of Sakamoto Days was released and quickly sparked controversy among fans. Many had been eagerly awaiting the chapter due to a major event involving Shin Asakura, a key character. However, instead of the expected outcome, mangaka Yuto Suzuki used the "Tunnel Effect" to keep Shin alive, leading fans to accuse him of using plot armor and 'making a fool' of them.

Reacting to it, one wrote, 'Prime example of "you are allowed to do silly and dumb things in the story as long as you dont try to make a fool of your readers". Another added, 'The Tunnel Effect may be ridiculous but so is the rest of this manga and that's why I love it. I'm not reading this shit for the realism. I don't mind illogical shit as long as the plot keeps moving. '
A third went on to add, 'I havent talked about Manga discourse in a while but the Tunnel Vision crap from Sakamoto Days is like the tamest.'
I havent talked about Manga discourse in a while but the Tunnel Vision shit from Sakamoto Days is like the tamest shit. Do u know what series ur reading??? I'll argue it's lame but I don't really care Sakamoto Days has been kinda mid for the past year pic.twitter.com/XUx7oKI0Iu
My take on the Sakamoto Days Tunnel effect is that it just wasn't fun bs, the bs makes the story fun. Just this particular bs was not fun, funny, or cool like its usual brand. Like shaking a bag to make a gun is fuckin funny, dismantling a gun midpunch hilarious/cool, ts?? No pic.twitter.com/eWwblsfZi0

Chainsaw Man Chapter 206: Denji Fights The Falling Devil—Recap, Release Date, Where To Read And More
The last Chainsaw Man chapter, titled Who?, began with Denji staring at the severed head of the Fake Chainsaw Man, unable to recognize him. Displeased, the Fire Devil conjures a flame showing two kind twins who once saved them. Inspired by Chainsaw Man, the brothers became heroic imitators—until Denji let the younger twin die to save a cat. The older twin, consumed by revenge, became the Fake Chainsaw Man. When Denji shows no remorse, the Fire Devil says he would have to face the same choice once more, and he best not make the same mistake. A skyscraper then collapses behind him, and the Fire Devil disappears. Denji then finds Yoru buried in the building's debris, before he faces the Falling Devil. Expected plot in Chainsaw Man Chapter 206 Chainsaw Man Chapter 206 will likely open with Denji confronting the Falling Devil as he figures out how to rescue Yoru from the rubble. As Denji struggles, the Fire Devil's promised 'choice' may reappear, potentially mimicking Chapter 102's events where Denji sacrificed a boy and a car full of people to save a cat. This time, he may be forced to choose between Yoru, civilians, or a random animal. This sequence is likely being used to expose the consequences of Denji's decisions, though it may not work out as the Fire Devil hopes. Chainsaw Man Chapter 206: Release date and where to read Chainsaw Man Chapter 206 is scheduled for release on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 12:00 am JST. For international readers, this corresponds to Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at approximately 8:00 am PT / 11:00 am ET / 3:00 pm GMT. Release times may vary depending on the reader's time zone. Fans can access Chainsaw Man Chapter 206 through Shueisha's official platforms, including MANGAPlus, Viz Media, and the Shonen Jump+ mobile app. The first two platforms provide free access to the first three and the latest three chapters, while a paid subscription is required for the Shonen Jump+ app. For more updates from the Chainsaw Man manga, stay tuned to Pinkvilla.

Sakamoto Days Chapter 217 To Reveal Shin's Plan—Recap, Release Date, Where To Read And More
The last Sakamoto Days chapter, titled 'Tunnel,' began with Shin surviving Takamura/X's slash thanks to Atari. She explains that she used the final remnants of her luck to cause the 'Tunnel Effect,' shifting the atoms of the blade to avoid contact with Shin. She warns that terrible misfortune will follow. Immediately after, every member of the Order arrives at the aquarium by chance. Kumanomi launches a whale at them, forcing Shin and Atari through a wall. As more attacks rain down on them, Atari urges Shin to kill her, but he refuses, vowing to protect everyone. Shin then thinks up a plan to escape. Expected plot in Sakamoto Days Chapter 217 Sakamoto Days Chapter 217 will likely begin with Shin acting on the strategy he just conceived.
