Sarawak Customs Dept seizes RM130,000 worth of meth disguised as tea packets at Miri courier service premises
KUCHING, April 29 — The Royal Malaysian Customs Department crippled a drug trafficking syndicate with the seizure of more than RM130,000 worth of Methamphetamine in two raids in Miri.
Sarawak Customs director Norizan Yahya said in the first raid conducted at 9.30am last Thursday, a team of customs officers from the narcotics unit conducted an inspection, using drug tracker dogs, at a courier company in Eastwood Valley Industrial Park.
'A package with two tea packets, suspected of containing Methamphetamine weighing 2.04 kilogrammes with an estimated value of RM65,280 addressed to an uninhabited dilapidated house, was found,' he said in a statement today.
According to Norizan, the second raid, conducted on the same day and at the same place, led to the discovery of a package with two tea packets believed to contain the same drugs, of the same weight and the same value.
'The syndicate's modus operandi is to use air courier services from Peninsular Malaysia to Sarawak, sending packages to uninhabited addresses to avoid detection by the authorities,' he said. — Bernama

Cop pleads not guilty to Nur Farah Kartini's murder
SHAH ALAM: The policeman accused of murdering Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, whose body was found in an oil palm plantation last year, pleaded not guilty to the charge in the High Court here today. He was first charged with murdering the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris student on July 26, 2024, at the Kuala Kubu Baru magistrate's court and on May 28, the case was transferred to the Shah Alam High Court for trial. 15 illegal immigrants, including children, detained in Labuan Immigration raid
LABUAN: The Labuan Immigration Department (JIM) has detained 15 foreign nationals during an enforcement operation yesterday (June 11) at several locations suspected of housing undocumented migrants here. Its director, Raymond Entalai said those arrested comprised three men, six women, four boys, and two girls -- all Filipino nationals. These foreigners are suspected of committing various immigration offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155) during the raids carried out from 1 am tp 4 am. 'The ages of these individuals detained were from one year old to 77 years old, and they are currently being held at the Labuan police lock-up and Labuan Immigration depot for further investigation and action,' he said to Bernama today. Raymond said the Immigration Department would continue to take strict action against anyone found violating the Immigration Act 1959/63, Passport Act 1966, Immigration Regulations 1963, and Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM). This includes action against those who hire or harbour undocumented migrants.
