Lionfish Tech Advisors has announced the launch of Aquarium, an artificial intelligence-driven competitive intelligence platform aimed at providing real-time market insights to businesses worldwide.
The Aquarium platform integrates large language model (LLM) artificial intelligence with the expertise of Lionfish's team of advisors who are former Gartner Analysts specialising in areas including Extended Detection and Response (XDR), Cloud Security, Threat Exposure Management, and Infrastructure and Operations.
In the context of evolving business environments and markets, organisations often face difficulties acquiring accurate and timely competitive data due to the time involved in traditional analytical processes. This challenge is compounded by regional and buyer-specific variations that demand tailored messaging and interpretation, leading to inconsistent or outdated information.
The Aquarium is designed to address these concerns by functioning as a Competitive Intelligence Assistant suitable for various departments such as sales, marketing, product management, and executive teams. The platform allows businesses to compare their products against competitors across global markets and provides real-time analysis.
The solution combines criteria and analysis techniques developed by Lionfish advisors over several decades with AI technology. According to Lionfish Tech Advisors, this integration enables the creation and updating of competitive intelligence in seconds, replacing processes that previously took weeks.
Rob Smith, CEO of Lionfish Tech Advisors, said: "The Lionfish Aquarium isn't just about getting competitive intelligence; it's about having it when you need it, exactly how you need it. What used to take weeks for a dedicated CI team to generate can now be created in seconds, providing our clients with validated data that gives them a significant competitive edge."
Tim Choi, GVP of Product Marketing at Proofpoint, commented: "By combining the power of AI with the wealth of experience from Lionfish advisors, we achieve rapid generation and continuous updating of competitive intelligence across all markets where Proofpoint offers solutions."
Among the features highlighted by Lionfish are Sonar Score, Market Dashboard, and Battle Cards. The Sonar Score offers a detailed SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis based on over 50 criteria for products, markets, and competitors. The Market Dashboard is a graphical overview of vendor and product performance relative to the market. Battle Cards are tailored to specific buyer personas and market contexts, updating automatically to reflect the latest trends and providing sales teams with objection handling guidance and competitive insights.
The company identifies a range of benefits for customers using Aquarium. These include faster research and go-to-market planning, improved sales productivity, and enhanced accuracy of competitive and market intelligence. The platform also aims to offer in-depth market knowledge for its users.
Departments throughout an organisation are expected to gain from Aquarium's capabilities. Sales teams can use current competitive intelligence to better engage customers and close deals. Product management teams are able to analyse feature gaps against competitors to refine development plans. Product marketing professionals can leverage insights on competitor messaging and market trends for better positioning, and executive leadership teams can use verified intelligence to support their decisions.
Lionfish Tech Advisors reports that Aquarium provides continuous global market analysis, with AI-driven insights that are verified by human experts. The platform is designed to deliver opportunity validation for senior executives and offers guidance based on the knowledge of experienced industry professionals.

Proofpoint acquires Nuclei to boost AI workplace compliance tools

Proofpoint has acquired Nuclei, a technology company specialising in compliance archiving and AI-driven data enrichment for workplace communications. The acquisition will see Proofpoint extend its digital communications governance offering with additional capabilities to capture, retain, and analyse communications data across collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, Webex, WhatsApp, and RingCentral Voice. Proofpoint has outlined that it will continue to support integration with a broad range of archive and data governance platforms, ensuring its connectors can deliver compliant interoperability for a wide variety of customer environments. Harry Labana, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Proofpoint's DCG Business Unit, said: "This acquisition enables us to accelerate our mission to deliver the most advanced and comprehensive AI-powered digital communications compliance platform in the market today, and we are excited to welcome Nuclei's talented team to Proofpoint. "By combining Proofpoint's leading human-centric security platform with Nuclei's pioneering technology, we can provide our customers with enhanced regulatory compliance while unlocking valuable insights from conversational data, which will be a game changer, particularly for highly regulated industries." The Nuclei platform offers several features for organisations, including the ability to capture and archive data from more than 100 applications. It can automatically collect messages, attachments, and metadata from a wide range of collaboration tools. AI transformation tools available through Nuclei include speech recognition in over 120 languages, real-time transcription, automatic translation, and video analysis. These functions are intended to help organisations derive actionable insights from their communication data. The platform is also designed for seamless integration with several major compliance archives, including Proofpoint, Smarsh, Global Relay, Arctera, and Microsoft Purview, to support organisations in meeting regulatory requirements. Nuclei's infrastructure is built on a serverless architecture on Amazon Web Services. It incorporates real-time compliance and security measures such as third-party audits by firms like Vanta, as well as end-to-end encryption that protects data in transit and at rest from capture through to storage. The value of human communication as a source of insight, process automation, and risk identification is a key area that Nuclei seeks to address by enabling capture, archiving, and analysis of communications data for intelligence extraction and compliance assurance. Eric Franzen, Chief Executive Officer of Nuclei, said: "At Nuclei, our mission is to democratise access to the world's most valuable data by transforming workplace communications into structured, compliant, and actionable information. "This vision has fuelled our innovation from the start. Partnering with Proofpoint allows us to extend that impact by helping the world's largest organisations boost productivity across hundreds of collaboration platforms while staying ahead of growing regulatory requirements." Proofpoint holds the status of a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Communications Governance and Archiving Solutions, based on completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Proofpoint unveils AI-powered governance tools for compliance

Proofpoint has introduced an upgraded digital communications governance solution featuring enhancements in search, archiving, supervision, and compliance capabilities driven by artificial intelligence and machine learning. The company's latest offering aims to address the growing complexity faced by organisations in managing a diverse and rapidly multiplying range of digital communication channels. Six of the ten largest financial services firms in the United States are already using the solution, according to data referencing Fortune 100 rankings. The system is now available via the public cloud. Businesses have increasingly integrated messaging apps, video calls, social media, and collaboration platforms into their daily operations. This development has significantly increased the challenges associated with compliance and governance, as organisations struggle to monitor and control information across various sources while adhering to internal standards and regulatory requirements. Regulatory and data sovereignty obligations continue to grow in complexity, with frameworks such as FINRA, FCA, HIPAA, and GDPR imposing tighter requirements on communications. According to a recent Gartner report, "by 2028, 80% of digital communications governance and archiving customers will consolidate the supervision of text- and audio/video-based content to a common solution, which is a major increase from fewer than 20% in 2024," signalling strong demand for unified governance solutions. Proofpoint's system leverages AI-driven tools to enable organisations to capture, reconcile, and manage communication records natively within a modern archiving environment. These tools are intended to support better compliance decisions, risk management, and litigation readiness. Harry Labana, Senior Vice President and General Manager, DCG Business Unit at Proofpoint, commented: "As regulatory scrutiny intensifies and digital communication channels multiply, the need for innovative, scalable solutions that enable compliance and streamline governance across all forms of digital interaction has never been more critical. By using advanced AI, we can cut through the noise, reduce supervision overhead, and simplify discovery—helping compliance and legal teams focus on what truly matters. We are committed to furthering our unified platform approach that provides customers a smarter, more efficient way to govern communications in the face of digital sprawl and evolving regulatory pressure." Key features in Proofpoint's upgraded offering include a next-generation archive, now available on Amazon Web Services. The platform's real-time search offers functions such as wildcard, proximity, and emoji searches, as well as litigation hold and compliance features like content reconciliation and PCI DSS attestation. Data from 2024 show that the system's archive search produces results in less than three seconds on average. The global rollout of this solution is underway, with current availability in the United States and planned deployments in Canada, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates within the current quarter. The solution's supervision and surveillance tools, including Proofpoint Supervision and Proofpoint Automate, are set to incorporate machine learning and LLM-based surveillance features, along with artificial intelligence-powered translation and risk summarisation. These enhancements are designed to assist financial firms in meeting Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) requirements by improving the efficacy of content review and reducing false positives, thus alleviating the workload for compliance reviewers. Proofpoint confirmed that new customers will have access to these machine learning models without needing additional licences, and further advancements in GenAI and Agentic AI are planned to support cost-effective compliance oversight. The offering also expands native data capture capabilities across more than 80 digital channels, covering email, mobile, voice, video, social media, and collaboration platforms. Proofpoint Capture supports comprehensive compliance and governance, offering flexible archive options with high-efficacy connectors for accelerated integration. The Proofpoint Patrol extension widens social media capture, providing monitoring and remediation for compliance risks related to online activities. Another key feature, Proofpoint Track, enhances audit readiness by delivering scalable, end-to-end reconciliation that validates the successful delivery of content to the archive system. Recognised by Gartner, this reconciliation capability aims to reduce the risk of missing or improperly stored content, supporting regulatory compliance obligations. Proofpoint Archive on AWS is now available for general use, with customer migrations scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025 and provided at no additional cost through to 2026. The expanded features of Proofpoint Supervision and Proofpoint Automate will become available globally in a phased rollout commencing in the second quarter of 2025.
