DOH visits evacuation centers in Las Piñas, Pasig
Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa personally visited two schools serving as evacuation centers in flood-prone areas around the metropolis.
Herbosa first visited the Zapote Elementary School in Las Piñas, which currently houses 371 evacuees or 133 families.
Herbosa, along with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian at Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar, handed out food packs for the evacuees.
The DOH assured the evacuees have adequate medical supply and support from medical personnel as 1,250 tablets of Doxycycline, paracetamol, insulin, vitamin C, and hypertension maintenance medication were turned over to the evacuation center.
Afterwards, Herbosa and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto visited the Rosario Elementary School to check 930 individuals or 290 families who were evacuated.
The DOH also looked into the center's medical personnel, medicine supply, child-friendly and mental health spaces, nutrition plan, micronutrient supplements, and breastfeeding covers.
Herbosa also went to the East Avenue Medical Center to check the health workers and patients in the hospital.
On Tuesday, Herbosa also visited evacuation centers in Marikina City to inspect its facilities. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News

DOH targets 95% of every 2 million children fully-vaccinated
The Department of Health (DOH) aims to have 95% of every 2 million Filipino children fully vaccinated yearly. During the post-SONA Discussion on Tuesday, DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa shared that vaccinations were one of the most important public health programs. The DOH intends to seek the help of local government units to achieve this target. Complete and speedy vaccination for children were among President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s calls for the health department during his 4th State of the Nation Address on Monday. Herbosa said the DOH has planned several programs such as school aid vaccinations, vaccine catch-ups and HPV vaccine drives to help complete vaccination targets. Vergeire, 2 other officials leave DOH
Three officials of the Department of Health (DOH), including Undersecretary Dr. Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, have stepped down from their posts. Aside from Vergeire, Undersecretaries Achilles Gerard Bravo and Dr. Kenneth are no longer part of the agency as of Tuesday. This was confirmed by DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa. 'Yes, it's confirmed. You'll have to ask them why… I think the two of them were beyond age of retirement,' Herbosa said in an ambush interview. The three former officials were part of the DOH Executive Committee (Execom), and were all Career Executive Service Officers (CESOs). Marcos touts ‘zero-balance billing' at DOH hospitals
Patients no longer have to settle their balance when seeking treatment at Department of Health (DOH) hospitals, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Monday. In his fourth State of the Nation Address, Marcos announced that the government will cover all expenses incurred by Filipinos at DOH hospitals. 'Itinuloy na po natin ang zero-balance billing. Libre po. Ibig sabihin, ang serbisyo sa basic accommodation sa ating mga DOH hospital, wala nang babayaran ang pasyente dahil bayad na ang bill ninyo,' he said. 'Uulitin ko, wala nang kailangan bayaran ang pasyente basta sa DOH hospital dahil bayad na po ang bill ninyo,' he added. (We will continue zero-balance billing. It's free. This means, for the services in the basic accommodation in our DOH hospitals, no payment is necessary because your bills have already been paid. I repeat, a patient will no longer have to make payments if they're in a DOH hospital because your bill will have already been paid.)
