
Pakistan, China hold consultations on arms control, non-proliferation, disarmament
Additional Secretary of Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security Division at Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Tahir Andrabi and Director General of Department of Arms Control at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Sun Xiaobo led their respective delegations at the forum on Monday in Beijing.
The two sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on issues related to global and regional peace and security. They also reviewed the situation in South Asia, with particular emphasis on the challenges to security and strategic stability, the Foreign Office said in a statement.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics related to disarmament and non-proliferation, focusing on the agenda of the UN General Assembly First Committee, the Conference on Disarmament, and key international disarmament agreements, such as the Biological & Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) and the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
Pakistan, China agree to further enhance bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors
The forum examined security implications of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence as well. Additionally, the dialogue addressed bilateral cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear technology and outer space.
During his visit, Ambassador Andrabi also participated in an interactive roundtable at the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA). The session was attended by distinguished former diplomats, practitioners, academics, and think tank experts.
The Pakistan-China Dialogue on Arms Control, Non-Proliferation, and Disarmament is a key element of the broader strategic engagement between the two countries. Pakistan views this dialogue as an essential platform for meaningful consultations on security and stability, as well as on issues related to arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation.
The next round of consultations will be held in Islamabad in 2026.

Moreover, the CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Metropolitan Expressway Nihonbashi section in Tokyo. She visited the ancient Nihonbashi Bridge in Japan. Nihonbashi Bridge is a source of entertainment and interest for pedestrians. Nihonbashi, Tokyo's famous waterfront, connects Tokyo Station and other districts. An underground expressway will be completed in the next few years to preserve the ancient beauty of Nihonbashi Bridge. Nihonbashi Expressway is a mega project being built under public-private partnership in Japan. BEIJING: China and Pakistan are ironclad friends and all-weather strategic cooperative partners and solid strategic mutual trust and frequent high-level exchanges are distinctive features of bilateral ties. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made these remarks while announcing Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Pakistan from August 20 to 22. Wang Yi will hold the Sixth Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Islamabad. Sharing the programme and China's expectations, Mao Ning, during her regular briefing, said that this will be Foreign Minister Wang Yi's second visit to Pakistan in three years, and the latest high-level exchange between China and Pakistan following recent bilateral meetings and visits. Wang arrives
ISLAMABAD: Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi has arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday on the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar. He will co-chair the 6th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue on August 21 (Thursday). The visiting dignitary was warmly received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Noor Khan Airbase. Wang Yi reached Pakistan after concluding his marathon visits of India and Afghanistan. On Wednesday, he attended the 6th Trilateral meeting of China, Pakistan and Afghanistan in Kabul. According to Foreign Office's statement, the Chinese FM's visit is part of the regular high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China to further deepen their 'All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership', reaffirm support on the issues of respective core interests, enhance economic and trade cooperation, and reaffirm their joint commitment to regional peace, development and stability.
