Attacking RSS a ‘guarantee solution' for CM to save his chair: BJP
Bengaluru: Taking a dig at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for attacking the RSS, the BJP leader R Ashoka has said it has become a 'guarantee solution' for the former to save his chair. The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly was reacting to Siddaramaiah targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for describing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the 'world's biggest NGO', during his address to the nation from the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day on Friday. Siddaramaiah had on Friday claimed the RSS is 'the world's biggest for-political-profit, for-hate, and most divisive organisation-unregistered, non-tax-paying, and conspiring to pit Indians against each other.' 'It's no surprise CM Siddaramaiah jumps at every chance to attack the RSS. It's not conviction - it's compulsion. It's not ideology - it's insurance. It's not belief - it's survival,' Ashoka said. In a post on 'X', he claimed that Siddaramaiah attacks the RSS to impress the Gandhi family and prove loyalty to the Congress high command, to keep the CM chair safe from the factional knives in his own party, and to distract from his government's failures, by demonising an organisation that serves the nation selflessly. 'Smear RSS = Please Gandhis + Protect Chair + Distract from Failures. A guarantee solution for CM Siddaramaiah's -- how to save the chair -- problem!' he added.

Bommai slams Cong for Taliban jibe at RSS
Bengaluru, Aug 17 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai today launched a sharp attack on the Congress, saying its leaders' comparison of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Taliban is not only shameful but exposes the party's own links with radical outfits. 'Congress leaders should be ashamed of calling the RSS Taliban. The reality is that it was the Congress which glorified Tipu Sultan as a hero, and today they are aligning with organisations like the SDPI. These are the real Taliban sympathisers,' Bommai charged, reacting to Congress criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day address from the Red Fort. Bommai said the Congress was rattled because the Prime Minister highlighted the role of the RSS as it completes 100 years. He accused the party of trying to monopolise the freedom struggle's legacy while ignoring the sacrifices of countless unsung heroes. 'Farmers, labourers and people from all walks of life sacrificed everything for the nation's independence. But Congress is still trying to claim all the credit,' he said. He recalled that Mahatma Gandhi himself had suggested disbanding the Congress after independence. 'Yet the party continued for its own political survival. The 70–75 years of Congress rule only dragged the country backward. Today, when its leaders make anti-national remarks, it raises doubts whether they stand in the tradition of freedom fighters,' he alleged. Taking aim at senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah, Bommai said he was making strident remarks against the RSS only to please the Gandhi family. 'Rahul Gandhi himself is not from the core Congress tradition, but Siddaramaiah is trying to project himself as 'more loyal than the king',' he remarked. Asserting that the RSS has always worked for nation-building, Bommai urged all citizens to extend support. 'It is essential for every Indian to join hands in strengthening the country. We must all work together in this task,' he appealed. UNI BDN ARN

CM Siddaramaiah: 10 years of Act, changes in lives of SC/STs not up to mark
Citing an evaluation done by the Institute for Social and Economic Change on the implementation of SCSP/TSP Act, he said Karnataka is ahead of other states in various criteria. In all, 39 taluks with a high population of SC/STs have been identified and a survey conducted to identify education, health, living standards and poverty eradication in these areas, he informed. 'As per the Act, a minimum of 24.1% of the grant has to be allocated every year, but during 2019-20, lesser amount was released (during the BJP rule),' he said. He said the Act's implementation should be reviewed as its purpose is to allocate a budget proportionate to SC/ST population, improve their social and economic conditions, standard of living and develop housing. Last year, Rs 38,793 crore was released for SCSP/TSP welfare programmes, of which Rs 38,717 crore was spent, achieving 97% success. The Centre was expected to release Rs 880 crore, but did not, he said. He instructed officials to get the fund released. 'This year, Rs 42,017.51 crore has been allocated. An action plan should be formulated to spend this grant effectively. Negligent officers should be punished,' he added.
