Aggie fans and media react to Texas A&M's Maroon & White spring game showing
Texas A&M's spring football season concluded after Saturday's Maroon & White spring game, ending with the White team winning 19-7 over the Maroon team in a game dominated by defense. At the same time, redshirt sophomore starting quarterback Marcel Reed had his moments, but we can only judge the dual-threat signal caller so much from a condensed live scrimmage.
Still, there were plenty of positives from Saturday's matchup, led by freshman Edge Marco Jones, who finished the game with four sacks, which was more than future 2025 draft picks Shemar Stewart, Shemar Turner, and Nic Scourton recorded during last year's spring game.
While some may find that stat meaningless, Jones is quite the athlete and could become a key rotational member of coach Mike Elko and DC Jay Bateman's pass rush this coming season. Other 2025 freshmen who stood out include DL Landon Rink, linebacker Noah Mikhail, cornerback Adonyss Currie, and wide receiver TK Norman, who all made plays on Saturday.
On offense, backup quarterbacks Jacob Zeno and Miles O'Neill are still battling for the No. 2 spot, and after an efficient day in the pocket, O'Neill may have a slight edge. While the run game was non-existent, all three quarterbacks, especially Marcel Reed, took full advantage of Texas A&M's revamped wide receiver room, led by former NC State WR KC Concepcion.
Concepcion is the clear No. 1 receiving option, while Mario Craver (Mississippi State) made several notable catches, including 17 and 29-yard receptions from two of Reed's best throws on the day. Other names include Izaiah Williams and Ashton Bethel-Roman, who caught Reed's only touchdown pass.
Still, the Texas A&M transfer portal additions on the defensive line, led by T.J. Searcy (Florida), Dayon Hayes (Colorado), and Tyler Onyedim (Iowa State) should put most Aggie fans at ease knowing that Cashius Howell and Rylan Kennedy now have plenty of help heading into the 2025 season.
After the first Aggie win of the season (joke), here are the best social media reactions from both Aggie media and the fan base.

Nebraska hosted 7 on 7 tournament praised by players and coaches

Nebraska hosted 7 on 7 tournament praised by players and coaches Nebraska Football hosted the Battle of the Boneyard 7 on 7 tournament on Friday, and it is proving to be a success. Multiple 7 on 7 coaches have confirmed that other events have already reached out to learn how Nebraska is running the weekend. This was reported by Tim Verghese on Friday. Verghese also noted that this is the first-ever sponsored brand tournament on the Nebraska campus. The tournament itself was sponsored by Adidas. Class of 2027 Nebraska football quarterback commit Trae Taylor elected to be part of this, playing on the Miami Raw team. He had a productive day on Friday and was able to connect with fellow 2027 recruit Ahmad Hudson for multiple touchdowns. Hudson is the top tight end in the 2027 class per Rivals rankings. Several prominent figures in the NFL circle showed up as well. Former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton came to Lincoln, as his 7 on 7 team, C1N was present. Former Nebraska football running back Ameer Abdullah also made an appearance on Friday. All in all, this appears to be another successful venture organized by the football program and athletic department. There should be a ton of news to come out of this weekend. 2026 4-star Edge and Texas A&M commit is visiting Washington

2026 4-star Edge and Texas A&M commit is visiting Washington Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is on track to see a significant boost this summer, especially this weekend, as coach Mike Elko and his staff are currently hosting 18 prospects from the 2026 class, including six commits, led by four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory. However, five-star wide receiver and LSU commit Tristen Keys is also on campus. After hiring former Miami Recruiting Director and assistant WR coach David Cooney, the Aggies have a very good chance to flip the elite pass catcher soon. However, according to Rivals recruiting insider Adam Gorney, four-star edge Texas A&M commit Samu Moala could be the Aggies' first realistic flip candidate, as the California product will reportedly visit Washington this weekend. The Huskies, like Oregon, focus on California for the bulk of the program's recruiting and have done a solid job this offseason of hosting several elite 2026 prospects. However, after committing in late October of last year, Texas A&M will be the final team to host Moala on June 20, meaning the Aggies are still in the driver's seat to keep him committed ahead of Early Signing Day in early December. On the field, there's a reason Moala is highly sought after, as he has improved every season, recording 52 tackles, three sacks, two tackles for loss, an interception, and nine hurries during his 2024 junior season. On offense, Moala hauled in five receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown. According to 247Sports, Moala is currently positioned as the 27th-ranked Edge and 26th-ranked prospect in California.
