TD Bank Survey Finds Americans are Ready to Embrace AI, but Have Yet to Unlock Its Full Potential
CHERRY HILL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--According to a new TD Bank survey, which polled 2,500 Americans, 89% of respondents say they are comfortable using and adapting to new technology in their daily life, while about seven in ten (68%) say they are at least somewhat familiar with artificial intelligence (AI), its uses and applications in their day-to-day lives. Half (50%) of respondents trust AI to provide reliable, competent information, and 65% see its potential to expand access to financial tools, a sign that perceptions are shifting as AI tools become more familiar and visible in everyday life.
'We are seeing increased optimism and curiosity around AI to help make smarter, more informed decisions, with more than half of Americans believing that AI can offer financial advice that is tailored to their situation,' said Ted Paris, EVP, TD Bank AMCB.
The survey revealed that Americans trust AI just as much as news stations (50%) and twice as much as social media influencers (25%) to provide information that is honest, reliable and competent. However, consumers still place greater trust in friends and family (90%) and banks (83%) for accurate information.
'We are seeing increased optimism and curiosity around AI to help make smarter, more informed decisions, with more than half of Americans believing that AI can offer financial advice that is tailored to their situation,' said Ted Paris, EVP, TD Bank AMCB, Head of Analytics, Intelligence & AI. 'For financial institutions, this signals a call to action to build understanding, increase awareness and demonstrate how AI can enhance everyday financial decisions. Trust is what matters most.'
With Trust on the Rise, Consumers Are Poised to Embrace AI in Finance
Trust in AI is particularly strong when it comes to supporting behind-the-scenes banking tasks. A majority of Americans are comfortable with AI being used for fraud detection (70%) and credit score calculations (64%). While fewer are ready to hand over major decisions, 44% say they are comfortable using self-serve AI enabled tools to manage investments, and 43% would use AI in combination with a human advisor for financial planning, showing significant interest in hybrid solutions.
As for personal finance choices, respondents were most comfortable using AI financial tools for budgeting (60%) and automating savings goals (59%) but showed less confidence in AI handling more intricate tasks such as retirement planning (48%) and investing (44%). 51% see value in AI improving financial decision-making, indicating a path forward as comfort and awareness increase. Interestingly, 48% agree that using AI would help them avoid embarrassing discussions with bank representatives, suggesting AI can improve approachability and drive self-service functionality.
Weighing the Benefits and Concerns of AI in Banking
As a result of banks implementing AI, many Americans expect benefits such as 24/7 banking access (48%), improved transaction efficiency (40%) and reduced costs (32%). 'Furthermore, a sizeable majority (65%) believe that AI has the potential to expand access to financial tools for individuals who currently lack them. We view AI as a powerful enabler — capable of increasing access to financial services, particularly for underserved and underrepresented communities,' added Paris.
While AI is recognized for its ability to enhance accessibility and efficiency in the banking sector, concerns remain about data security and privacy breaches (65%), reduced human interaction (56%), and a lack of transparency in AI decision-making (49%), reinforcing the need for institutions and banks to emphasize AI's role in supporting human intelligence.
The study also revealed that although there is some concern around job displacement, 63% of Americans currently using AI at work are less worried about AI taking their job than they were a year ago and two-in-three of those people (68%) believe AI makes them more productive in the workplace.
A Future Built on Transparency, Guidance and Human Partnership
While some skepticism persists as 22% of Americans say they see no benefit to AI in financial services and 50% say that it will not give them financial advice that is fair and unbiased, most are not rejecting AI outright. Instead, they're asking for clarity, education and tools that reinforce human oversight.
'When it comes to financial access and decision-making, AI is a catalyst for information and solutions,' says Paris. 'The proliferation of AI in banking is recognized for its potential to deliver improved financial tools. At the end of the day, finance remains personal and there remains a greater need for banks to build trust and effectively communicate AI's benefits.'
Survey Methodology
About the Study
Findings are the result of an Ipsos poll conducted March 17-31, 2025, on behalf of TD. Survey sample comprised of 2,500 Americans, weighted to balance demographics reflective of the U.S. adult population in accordance with Census data to ensure sample composition results are approximate the sample universe. The precision of Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. The conducted poll is accurate to within ±2.2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, had all American adults been polled. The credibility interval will be wider among subsets of the population. OneLegacy's Donate Life Rose Parade® Float
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OneLegacy announced the theme of their 2026 OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade® float, Treasure Every Moment Together. This entry will be featured in the 137 th Rose Parade® presented by Honda on January 1, 2026, in Pasadena, California. As part of this iconic New Year's Day celebration, OneLegacy's float will join dozens of floral floats, marching bands, and equestrian units riding down Colorado Boulevard. OneLegacy reveals the 2026 OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade Float themed Treasure Every Moment Together Share The 2026 Rose Parade® theme, The Magic in Teamwork, celebrates the power of collaboration and collective achievement. It emphasizes that exceptional results come from a willingness to work together. Organ donation and transplantation rely on the coordinated efforts of hospitals, organ procurement organizations, transplant centers, donors, and recipients. When an organ donor gives the gift of life to a recipient, it exemplifies the theme chosen by Tournament of Roses President Mark Leavens. 'OneLegacy has long been an inspiring presence in the Rose Parade,' says Leavens. 'Their float is more than a beautiful display; it's a powerful reminder of what's possible when people come together with compassion and purpose. Their message of generosity, hope, and teamwork reflects the very best of our community.' OneLegacy's twenty-third entry into the Rose Parade®, Treasure Every Moment Together, highlights gratitude for moments shared with others. This lush tropical paradise is a reminder that registered organ, eye, and tissue donors offer the greatest treasure: the gift of life. Grateful organ recipients will sail through Pasadena, California, in two traditional canoes placed at the front of the float. The 2026 OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade® Float honors a community of people touched by the power of organ, eye, and tissue donation. Charles Meier, an award-winning float designer, created the vision for the 2026 OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade® float. Three regal, great hornbill birds perch along the float, accompanied by monarch butterflies. Like donation and transplantation, great hornbills play a crucial role in sustaining the circle of life in their communities. Monarch butterflies represent transformation and rebirth and are often used as symbols of donation and transplantation. The centerpiece, an open treasure chest, overflows with flowers, pearls, and Floragraphs – floral portraits of organ, eye, and tissue donors. Artistic Entertainment Services (AES) will bring the float to life under the direction of the OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade® float crew. Over fifteen hundred organ, eye and tissue donation advocates volunteer their time to decorate the float with organic materials such as seeds, grains, bark, and flowers. The decorating shifts commence in October and end in December, culminating in the premiere of the finished float on New Year's Day. OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade® float decorating shifts are posted on the float's website. "Every year, millions of people are inspired by the OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade float – partners, volunteers, donor families, recipients, living donors, parade attendees, and viewers around the world,' said Prasad Garimella, CEO of OneLegacy. 'In 2026, Treasure Every Moment Together reminds us that renewed life is the invaluable gift that organ, eye, and tissue donors leave behind.' As the world's most visible campaign for organ, eye, and tissue donation, the OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade®, float, produced by OneLegacy, is made possible by support from major organizations across the country. Anysphere launches a $200-a-month Cursor AI coding subscription
Anysphere launched a new $200-a-month subscription plan for its popular AI coding tool, Cursor, the company announced in a blog post on Monday. The new plan, Ultra, offers users 20x more usage on AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and xAI compared to the company's $20-a-month subscription plan, Pro. Anysphere also says Cursor users on the Ultra plan will get priority access to new features. Anysphere CEO Michael Truell said in a blog that the Ultra plan was made possible through multi-year partnerships with AI model providers. In the last several months, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind have similarly rolled out pricier subscription plans — ranging from $100-a-month to $250-a-month — as part of an effort to capitalize on their power users, and offer them increased usage. The new, pricy Cursor subscription plan seems poised to add revenue to Anysphere's already booming business. Earlier this month, Anysphere announced that Cursor had reached $500 million in annualized recurring revenue and is being used by major companies such as Nvidia, Uber, and Adobe. Anysphere was one of the fastest companies ever to reach $100 million in ARR, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Based on TechCrunch's previous reporting, Cursor's ARR has grown by $200 million since April. However, the race to develop 'vibecoding' tools is heating up, and many of the AI model providers Cursor relies on are developing their own AI coding products. OpenAI has reportedly acquired Cursor's competitor, Windsurf, to beef up its offerings of AI coding products. Meanwhile, Anthropic continues to develop Claude Code, its in-house AI coding tool that utilizes its popular AI models. It's unclear whether Anysphere can sustain this level of growth without bumping into AI model providers. We've seen more competitive tactics emerge in the AI coding space as these businesses have grown. For example, Anthropic recently slashed Windsurf's direct access to Claude AI models as a means to undercut its largest competitor, OpenAI. Boston, MA | REGISTER NOW At the same time, Anysphere has started putting more resources towards developing its own AI models that work alongside models from OpenAI and Anthropic. In May, Anysphere rolled out a new 'Tab' AI model, which can suggest code changes across various files. In a recent interview with TechCrunch, Anthropic co-founder Jared Kaplan said he believed Anthropic would be working with Cursor for a long time. Anysphere's multi-year partnerships with Anthropic and other AI model providers certainly suggest these relationships aren't going anywhere just yet. Nonetheless, the competition for users is getting more intense.

What we predict life in 2065 will be like
What will life be like in 2065? We might all be renting, consulting AI doctors and retirement homes could be digital. Those are some of the bold predictions to emerge from a survey of 2,000 Americans which examined the generational predictions for what might come to be in the next 40 years. Results showed 48% of Gen Z think retirement won't be an option for most people in 40 years, while 51% feel there will be a digital alternative that arises to meet the needs of the many who anticipate struggling to afford later life care. The survey conducted by Talker Research on behalf of LevLane found just 41% of respondents own their homes. Of those who don't, just 35% believe they'll ever own a home - while 25% said they anticipate having to rent for life. When asked how much they think the average cost of a home will be in 2065, respondents said $682,120 - that's $272,020 more than the average cost today. And respondents anticipate needing a lot more from their salary, predicting $508,950 will be the average household income necessary in 2065 compared to today's $80,610. But, while Bill Gates thinks we could be down to just two working days a week within the next decade, the American public is less convinced - estimating people will work closer to 30 hours or four days per week by 2065. "This research offers a striking look at how Americans, especially younger generations, are reimagining the future," said Kelly Sizemore, chief growth officer at LevLane. "From housing and health care to income and retirement, people are clearly preparing for a world where traditional milestones are being reshaped by technology, cost pressures and cultural shifts. But, these insights don't just highlight anxieties, they also reveal how people expect innovation to rise and meet evolving needs. It's a call to brands, institutions and policymakers to listen, adapt and lead with empathy and foresight." Other bold forecasts for what participants think will be commonplace in 2065 are a society run by 100% digital currency (39%), biometric payment methods (36%), households run by smart home AI technology (35%), having a robot roommate/housekeeper/caregiver (32%) and living with implanted health monitors (30%). Twenty-five percent of respondents don't believe retirement will be financially possible, estimating the average American would need $3.54 million to retire in 2065. In general, 38% of participants said the next generation will likely be worse off financially than previous generations. In fact, a further 64% agreed that today's younger generations will have a worse retirement experience than baby boomers. The factors cited for a less-than-rosy future retirement for younger generations were concerns about the cost of care and medical expenses (26%), not being able to fully retire due to rising costs (24%) and lack of personal savings or financial security (22%). And, it's not just financial differences. The way Gen Z wants to spend their golden years is much different than the luxe retirement communities coveted by baby boomers. Twenty-nine percent of Gen Z said they want to spend time with family so they can watch future generations grow. Twenty percent said they'd like to travel the world and space, while 17% said they want to own a hobby farm or retreat with animals and gardens. Interestingly, around one in six want to live off the grid, in nature and away from tech, while 15% said they'd prefer to live with friends in a co-living community. "The picture painted here isn't just about economic uncertainty - it's about a shift in values," said Chris Moreira, chief creative officer at LevLane. "Younger generations are signaling that the future they imagine isn't rooted in excess, but in connection, flexibility and purpose. Whether it's redefining retirement, rethinking ownership or embracing new technologies, the challenge - and opportunity - lies in designing a future that reflects these evolving priorities." WHAT AMERICANS SAY 2065 WILL LOOK LIKE 25% of Americans feel they will rent for lifeAverage home will cost $682,120The workweek will be 30 hoursRetirement will cost $3.5 millionGen Z won't do boomer luxury retirement: 29% will retire with family20% will travel Earth and space17% want animal-filled hobby farms16% want to live off the grid away from tech15% want to live with friends in a co-living community Survey methodology: Talker Research surveyed 2,000 Americans; the survey was commissioned by LevLane and administered and conducted online by Talker Research between May 6 - May 12, 2025. We are sourcing from a non-probability frame and the two main sources we use are: Traditional online access panels - where respondents opt-in to take part in online market research for an incentiveProgrammatic - where respondents are online and are given the option to take part in a survey to receive a virtual incentive usually related to the online activity they are engaging in Those who did not fit the specified sample were terminated from the survey. As the survey is fielded, dynamic online sampling is used, adjusting targeting to achieve the quotas specified as part of the sampling plan. Regardless of which sources a respondent came from, they were directed to an Online Survey, where the survey was conducted in English; a link to the questionnaire can be shared upon request. Respondents were awarded points for completing the survey. These points have a small cash-equivalent monetary value. Cells are only reported on for analysis if they have a minimum of 80 respondents, and statistical significance is calculated at the 95% level. Data is not weighted, but quotas and other parameters are put in place to reach the desired sample. Interviews are excluded from the final analysis if they failed quality-checking measures. This includes: Speeders: Respondents who complete the survey in a time that is quicker than one-third of the median length of interview are disqualified as speedersOpen ends: All verbatim responses (full open-ended questions as well as other please specify options) are checked for inappropriate or irrelevant textBots: Captcha is enabled on surveys, which allows the research team to identify and disqualify botsDuplicates: Survey software has "deduping" based on digital fingerprinting, which ensures nobody is allowed to take the survey more than once It is worth noting that this survey was only available to individuals with internet access, and the results may not be generalizable to those without internet access.
