According to The Hindu, on June 11, the CBFC informed the
Madras High Court
that a fresh screening of the film would take place on the same day to assess its controversial elements.

Manushi revolves around the story of a woman who is falsely accused of terrorism, and the film portrays instances of police brutality. The politically charged narrative reportedly drew strong objections from the CBFC, which initially withheld certification, citing that the film could be interpreted as casting the state government in a negative light and potentially misguiding the public regarding communist ideologies.
Vetri Maaran Pushes for Transparency and Fair Evaluation
In response, Vetri Maaran approached the Madras High Court, arguing that the original rejection lacked transparency. In his petition, he highlighted that the CBFC did not provide clear reasons or specific concerns regarding the film's content. He also emphasized that he was never given an opportunity to address or respond to the objections.
Vetri Maaran expressed his willingness to make changes, including the removal or alteration of scenes deemed inappropriate—provided that the objections were clearly communicated.
