Scuffle between devotees & Trimbak temple security staff over darshan
darshan
' — was abruptly halted.
The Trimbakeshwar temple saw a large number of pilgrims during the month of Shravan, thanks to the three-day holiday since Aug 15. Although the temple is open for 14 hours daily, the maximum number of people who can take the darshan does not exceed 20,000.
"There was a huge rush in the town on Friday and Saturday and, therefore, the management decided to open the 'mukh darshan' facility that does not allow the pilgrims inside the main temple but only to enter the premises, take the darshan from a distance without disturbing the regular queues of pilgrims, and exit," said Kailas Ghule, one of the temple trustees.
Due to the large crowd, the management's security staff, along with the police, employed a 'hold and release' method to prevent overcrowding within the premises. "However, as the number of pilgrims attempting to enter the premises increased, the management decided to suspend the system and closed the door. Some of the pilgrims started kicking the door and even charged at the management officials who tried to pacify them, after which they were whisked away by the police and the security staff of the temple," a police officer said.
"No complaint has been filed in the case by anybody," the police added.

Air India flight to Delhi held up before take off: MP Hibi Eden says plane skidded on runway; officials deny claims
KOCHI: An Air India flight scheduled to depart from Kochi for New Delhi was delayed late Saturday night due to technical issues. The flight, scheduled to depart at 10.34pm, was held up on the runway before take off. Among the passengers was Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden, who took to social media expressing concern about the situation. In his post, he claimed that the aircraft seemed to have skidded during its attempt to take off. 'Something unusual with this flight AI 504... it just felt like the flight skid on the runway... and hasn't taken off yet,' Eden wrote on Facebook. Eden told TOI that a sudden brake was applied just before the flight take off. 'The captain informed that there was some jerk. They said the flaws may be fixed in 20 minutes. Passengers are still inside the flight,' he said. However, officials from the Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) dismissed the claims. A technical issue caused an AI flight bound to Delhi to abort the take off. The AI is rectifying it and informed Cial that they are changing the aircraft. The expected time of departure is 1am, a Cial communication said. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). 35 days, 16,000 km: Techie completes London-Bhopal road trip after 2 years of planning; crosses 20 borders, spends Rs 1 crore
BHOPAL: A 42-year-old software engineer, Hukumchand Ratanchand Shah, completed a 16,000-km car journey from London to Bhopal in 35 days after two years of preparation and spending Rs 1 crore. The trip was undertaken to celebrate the 79th Independence Day with his wife, children and in-laws in Bhopal. His friend, software engineer Abhijit Patil, accompanied him. The journey faced a significant setback when the travellers reached Nepal. A landslide blocked their route, forcing Shah to leave his car in Nepal and preventing him from continuing the final leg to Bhopal by road. He will undertake an additional 2,000-kilometre journey to retrieve it from Nepal to Mumbai. "This journey was memorable. We travelled through 19 countries before reaching India. It was a years long dream of mine which has now been fulfilled," says Shah. His wife, Richa Shah, who works in a bank in London, had already reached Bhopal with the children. "My husband has done a wonderful expedition. We are proud on him," says Richa. Regarding his journey, Shah stated that his expedition was appreciated in all the countries. "Everyone encouraged us a lot. We travelled for about 12 days in China and people there treated us with great respect," he adds. For the expedition, Shah bought a new car last year for around Rs 75 lakh. "Apart from the car, our travel expenses amounted to around Rs 35 lakh," Shah said. Hailing from Solapur in Maharashtra, Shah had undertaken several expeditions from Pune to Ladakh earlier in India. The total cost of this remarkable journey reached Rs 1 crore, making it one of the most expensive private road trips undertaken by an Indian citizen. Shah's journey is part of a growing trend of epic overland road trips between India and London. Several organised expeditions like "Road to London" have been taking place since 2017, typically covering over 16,000 kilometres across 20 countries in 50-65 days. These journeys represent the ultimate road trip adventure, combining cultural exploration, logistical challenges and personal achievement. Completing the journey independently, rather than as part of an organised convoy, makes Shah's achievement particularly noteworthy. The extensive preparation, significant financial investment and successful completion despite the Nepal setback demonstrate his remarkable dedication to this ambitious travel goal. Tourists stranded inR'bore forest; 3 safarivehicles, drivers banned
Ranthambore: Three safari vehicles, drivers and one guide have been banned till further orders after tourists were left stranded inside Ranthambore forest Saturday evening. The forest department has also ordered an inquiry into the incident, directing the assistant conservator of forests, tourism, to submit a report within three days. The order was issued by the deputy conservator of forests, tourism. The action followed a serious lapse in safari operations. An official said one of the safari vehicles ferrying tourists back from Zone 6 broke down in the dark, leaving the visitors stuck in the forest. Another one, which was supposed to be stationed at the forest chowki as a standby, was not on duty. "A third safari vehicle, which had already returned with tourists, was instructed to bring back the stranded visitors but failed to comply with departmental directions. As a result, all three vehicles, their drivers, and the accompanying guide have been barred from operations," he said. Meanwhile, the forest department has also taken a decision regarding the age limit of safari vehicles. Contrary to earlier proposals to extend the service of vehicles from 10 to 15 years, the department will now only grant a one-year relaxation. The field director has been instructed to ensure that all vehicles operating in the Ranthambore Tiger Project are safe, suitable for tourism, and meet safari standards before any extension is approved. Currently, 556 vehicles are registered for tourism in Ranthambore. The Ranthambore Vehicle Safari Owners' Union had previously submitted a memorandum demanding an extension of the model condition. However, hoteliers and other stakeholders argue that poorly maintained vehicles pose a significant risk to tourists. They pointed out that newer, technologically better vehicles with lower emissions are available in the market. "Some of the existing vehicles are in a ramshackle state. Owners avoid spending on maintenance since they expect these vehicles to be discontinued soon," a hotelier said. A forest staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, admitted that the pressure from vehicle owners played a role in granting the one-year relaxation. "The extension was given despite concerns, as it was seen as an additional burden on owners," the official said. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
