The charities Mr Anderson has chosen to raise money for are close to his heart. He explained the number one charity was Cancer Research as he had lost his "very best friend" to pancreatic cancer. "There was always some seed planted in my a head a little bit about maybe giving something back," he said.He also chose to raise money for Sane, a mental health charity, as a family member had taken their own life."It was a real shock to the family," he explained.He said My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, which supports those with Motor Neurone Disease, was chosen because Mr Gill's wife had a relative "that she watched slowly passing with motor neurone, and that was very keen to her heart to have that one on the back of the box and support it."The Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution and Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution were chosen to support the farming community. He said they had not put a figure on how much they wanted to raise. "Whatever is raised is raised at the end of the day, no matter how much or how little, it all helps."

Western carmakers ‘have ceded affordable EV market to China'
Affordable Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) are poised to dominate Britain's roads as Western brands turn to luxury models, experts have said. About 10pc of new cars sold in the UK already come from China, but that proportion is set to surge, according to the FIA Foundation, the charity associated with motor sports' governing body. 'China, which now accounts for 27pc of global passenger car sales, has secured a competitive edge in manufacturing smaller EVs, with strengths across key aspects of EV production, including battery supply chains, manufacturing efficiency and software,' it said in a report. 'It means China has evolved from a net importer of passenger cars before 2020 to the world's largest net exporter.' European and UK carmakers have largely ceded the affordable car market to the Chinese and are instead focused on upmarket SUVs and other large cars, the report noted. Range Rover is planning its new all-electric model launch in 2026 with starting prices predicted around £130,000 to £150,000. Jaguar is converting into an all-electric luxury brand, with its first production version to be unveiled later this year and expected to be priced higher than previous models. Steve Gooding, chief executive of the RAC Foundation, said: 'Our love affair with Fiesta-sized cars might swiftly be rekindled if more small, keenly priced EV models start coming to market. 'But will the auto companies see this as being in their interest, given the higher profit margins they tend to earn on bigger vehicles?' In the small-car market the best British contender is the all-electric Mini, made mainly at the BMW Group plant at Cowley, in Oxford, but with some versions built in China and Germany. Prices start at £30,000. This compares with the £17,000 BYD Dolphin or the £16,000 MG3, both built in China. Jack Cousens, head of roads policy at the AA, said the relatively low prices of Chinese cars were giving them an increasingly strong grip on UK markets. About 19,000 of the 191,000 cars sold in the UK in June were made by Chinese brands such as MG, BYD, Omoda, and Jaecoo. Mr Cousens said the Chinese manufacturers were also now targeting the market for larger EVs. He said: 'MG, now Chinese owned, offers both small and larger EVs. Jaecoo, Xpeng and Genesis are doing well in the larger market. Look out for the Jaecoo J5 which is on the cusp of being released and looks like a Range Rover Evoque, but at a fraction of the price.' Jaguar Land Rover declined to comment on the threat from Chinese lookalikes. There are more than 130 EV models available in the UK, which are a mix of budget cars, family cars and SUVs. AA research suggests the market includes 33 priced under £30,000, with more set to launch in the UK in the coming months Edmund King, AA president, said: 'There is no doubt that over the last 20 years the size of vehicles, whether petrol, diesel or electric, has grown in line with the popularity of SUV models where consumers seem to like the higher seating position and extra space.' The Department for Transport said it was acting to encourage uptake of small EVs. A spokesman said: 'We're investing over £4bn to support both industry and consumers in making the switch to electric, giving drivers the confidence to choose the models that work best for them. 'This includes providing discounts worth up to £3,750 off the cost of a new electric car and rolling out more public chargepoints with 83,000 now available and over 100,000 more on the way.'

AI cameras catch thousands not wearing seat belts

Hugely popular hatchback loved by Brits gets bold new look as next-gen model is previewed for very first time
VAUXHALL have given fans something to sink their teeth into with a bold new look for the Corsa. The iconic hatchback, one of the nation's most beloved small cars, has been unveiled in a bold new form. 4 4 The British firm, which is part of Stellantis, recently joined the Gran Turismo franchise - the world famous series known for allowing gamers to race everything from regular family motors through to supercars and even concepts. Vauxhall are to use the platform to show off the new Corsa GSE Vision - which is set to debut at the Munich Motor Show in September before being available to drive and race in the game. But while most concept cars are bizarre and, in some cases, a little silly, this one truly serves as a vision of the all-new Vauxhall Corsa supermini that's due to arrive in 2027. This bold look is simply the car's potential high-performance GSE iteration and takes the form of a three-door hatchback with quite a few extravagant design elements. That includes staggered 21 and 22-inch wheels within huge wheelarches and the 'Vizor' design at the front, as well as new lighting to create a cross-like design. Naturally, for a souped up concept design, there's also an outrageous air intake and bonnet vent, as well as a roof-mounted wing and enormous rear diffuser. The rear sees a clean and simple glazed tail that leads into an illuminated Vauxhall badge and a lightbar. The cabin is also rather futuristic and purely conceptual, with a yoke-style steering wheel and a head-up display, including back-lit fabrics for driver information such as blind-spot warnings. Powered by electric, of course, the concept boasts impressive performance details with two electric motors - each producing 400bhp - to combine for 800bhp and 800Nm of torque. It's also extremely lightweight at 1,170kg, enabling acceleration from 0 to 62mph in just two seconds with an eye-popping top speed of 199mph. Mark Adams, Vauxhall's chief designer, explained the concept's role in introducing the GSE brand. He told Auto Express: 'We wanted to build this because introducing the GSE brand in the right way, it was important to put the vision here first. 'But it then happens that following hot on the heels of this is a real first production car. "It's not exactly the same as this, but then it's the first of several to come.' While the dual-motor layout is purely conceptual, the car uses the Stellantis SLTA-S platform, set to underpin superminis and SUVs. A production GSE Corsa is expected - but will likely feature a single-motor front-wheel-drive layout, much like its label-mate the Peugeot 208 GTi.
