New Digital Magazine CabinLiving.ca Launches to Serve Canada's 2.9 Million Cottage Owners and Cabin Enthusiasts

CabinLiving.ca offers a clean, ad-free reading experience across all devices, featuring uniquely Canadian content ranging from outdoor gear insights to cultural stories about the nation's cabin obsession.
A new player has entered Canada's lifestyle media landscape with the launch of CabinLiving.ca, an online-only magazine targeting the country's massive cottage and cabin culture community. With nearly 10% of Canadian households owning recreational properties and the sector contributing $9 billion annually to the economy, this ad-free publication addresses an underserved market with premium, Canadian-focused content about cabin living, property management, and outdoor recreation.
CANADA - June 19th, 2025 - CabinLiving.ca, Canada's first dedicated online-only lifestyle magazine for cabin and cottage enthusiasts, officially launched today, offering premium, ad-free content for the estimated 2.9 million Canadian households that own recreational properties and millions more who embrace cabin culture.
Founded in 2025, the premium digital publication provides comprehensive, ad-free content specifically tailored to the unique aspects of Canadian cabin living, cottage ownership, and lake culture.
'Cabin culture represents a fundamental part of the Canadian identity, with nearly 10% of Canadian households owning recreational properties,' said Martin P., Senior Contributor at CabinLiving.ca. 'We're creating a year-round digital destination that captures the essence of Canadian cabin living – from the anticipation of opening weekend to the peaceful moments by the lake.'
A New Approach to Cabin Content
CabinLiving.ca distinguishes itself through a carefully curated mix of content that speaks to every aspect of the Canadian cottage experience. Readers will discover in-depth features exploring hidden cottage destinations and inspiring cabin architecture across the country, alongside practical guides for everything from seasonal maintenance to winterization projects. The publication also provides valuable real estate insights for those looking to buy, sell, or invest in recreational properties, while celebrating the outdoor lifestyle with coverage of fishing, hiking trails, and wilderness adventures.
What sets the magazine apart is its reader-first philosophy. Unlike traditional lifestyle publications cluttered with advertisements, CabinLiving.ca is supported exclusively by partnered content, allowing stunning photography and compelling storytelling to create an immersive reading experience that mirrors the tranquility of cabin living itself.
The publication takes pride in being authentically Canadian, with every article written by contributors who understand the nuances of regional cottage cultures – from the remote wilderness cabins of British Columbia to the iconic Muskoka cottages of Ontario and the charming coastal retreats of the Maritimes.
Serving a Thriving Market
Canadian cottage and cabin culture contributes over $9 billion annually to the national economy, yet until now, this vibrant community lacked a dedicated digital-only resource. CabinLiving.ca fills this gap by delivering expert advice on property management and investment strategies, seasonal guides that help owners maximize their cottage enjoyment year-round, and regional spotlights that celebrate unique cabin communities across the country.
The magazine also embraces modern cottage trends, offering insights on sustainable living for off-grid and eco-friendly cabins, while providing family-focused content that helps create lasting memories at the lake. Through innovative digital features like interactive cabin-themed puzzles and games, mobile-optimized design for reading anywhere, and downloadable guides for cottage owners, CabinLiving.ca brings the cabin experience into the digital age.
'We're building more than a magazine – we're creating a digital community for everyone who feels that special connection to Canadian cabin culture,' added Martin P. 'Whether you own a cottage, rent one every summer, or simply dream of lake life, CabinLiving.ca is your trusted resource.'

Lululemon shoppers say they 'love, love, love' this 'versatile' bag — and it's under $75 right now

The "quality of this bag is really impressive." If you're a Lululemon fan, you're probably familiar with their bags. And while they're often crafted out of wear-anywhere nylon, shoppers are also obsessed with the Leather Alternative Mini Bag. Why? It's a compact bag with a sleek look that can easily take you from day to night. While many of Lululemon's other mini bags are more firmly on the "casual" side of things, this new iteration wouldn't look out of place at an upscale dinner, an event or a night out. With a versatile shape and multiple ways to wear it, keep scrolling to see why this bag might just become your new favourite accessory. P.S. it's $74 off right now — score! The details The bag is crafted from a smooth "leather alternative" that's made from polyester, polyurethane and cactus fibre. The bag is similar in size to Lululemon's popular Everywhere Belt Bag, measuring 8.4" x 2" x 4.3" with a capacity of just over one litre. It features a chic design with a detachable top handle and adjustable strap, multiple interior pockets for cards, cash and other small items, a clip-on pouch perfect for carrying earbuds or keys, a magnetic snap closure and silver hardware. You can wear it as a crossbody bag — perfect for running errands — or remove the long strap and carry it as a top-handle bag for dressier situations. The bag's sleek design makes it easy to elevate a casual look. To keep it looking its best, Lululemon recommends wiping the bag clean regularly with a soft, damp cloth. What people are saying With a 4.5-star average rating, shoppers rave about the quality and sturdy material of the Leather Alternative Mini Bag 1.2L. "Love, love, love it," wrote one Lululemon shopper, who said the "quality is great" and the material is a "great alternative to leather." Another shopper wrote that they own Lululemon's entire collection of leather alternative bags and that the quality of the material is "amazing." "This is such a versatile little bag!" wrote another shopper. "It's appropriate for everything from running errands to a night out. It's small but still fits the essentials." $74 $148 at Lululemon "The quality of this bag is really impressive," added another. "It's cute, versatile and there is enough room for your basic needs." Lululemon customers who purchased other items in the brand's leather alternative line, such as the leather alternative Everywhere Belt Bag, have also said that the material is "easier to keep clean," "durable," and has "more longevity than the cloth bags," while also looking more high-end. However, some shoppers do caution that it's a very small bag — if you're looking for something that can hold a lot, this isn't it. "When they named it mini, I think they misspelled micro," a shopper joked. "The interior could fit only my iPhone, glasses and a lippie. No room for even a slim wallet." The verdict If you're looking for a versatile everyday bag that can be worn in multiple settings, Lululemon's Leather Alternative Mini Bag is a stylish option for summer. While the bag is a bit pricier than Lululemon's other mini bags, but it's a versatile piece that can be taken easily from day to night, and shoppers say it's "cute" and "really impressive" quality. That said, if you're not a minimalist, this bag might be too small for your everyday needs.

Cheekbone Beauty is Canadian, Indigenous-owned and sustainable — and these celebrities are 'adamant' about using it

From the do-it-all product she is "not living without" to her favourite Canadian beauty products, here are five things Jenn Harper is Adding to Cart. Sustainability requires "intentful action," Jenn Harper, the founder of Cheekbone Beauty, told Yahoo Canada. "It has to become a practice. Sustainability isn't something you can say you are but not do." Cheekbone Beauty is one of Canada's first Indigenous-owned and founded cosmetics companies. It focuses on what Harper — an Anishinaabe Ojibwe entrepreneur from St. Catharines, Ont. — says is "missing" in the beauty industry: true sustainability. "We know that [clean beauty] is safe for humans, but what about the planet? What about the environment?" she said. There are so many ingredients that are considered clean, they're checked off as safe, but are known to impact the environment and ecosystems negatively, she explained. "We really want to look at the whole picture." Is the packaging sustainable? Is it biodegradable? What does the raw material formulation look like? "That's where we take our Indigenous roots very seriously." Have you ever wondered what the world's most interesting, successful and talented people are adding to their shopping carts? Yahoo Canada's new series, Add to Cart, is exploring just that. From the supplement regimen of professional athletes to supermodel-approved skincare, this is what celebrities actually spend their money on. Harper and her team at Cheekbone Beauty care deeply about sustainability and how Indigenous people are represented in the beauty space. At the time of our call, the founder had recently teamed up with Nice Cans and chef Charlotte Langley to launch a limited-edition lipstick, Haki, with 100 per cent of proceeds going directly to Indigenous student scholarships. The reason why Cheekbone Beauty has gone viral, however, isn't solely because of its social do-gooding. For starters, the Canadian brand became a fast, homegrown favourite when U.S. President Donald Trump instigated a tariff war — and a buy Canadian movement — earlier this year. Many of the brand's lip products are manufactured in Ontario, and it works with partners in Italy for the rest. "You could really see [a rise in sales] from January to April," after Trump took office, Harper revealed. "Even into May." Another reason Cheekbone has skyrocketed in popularity in recent months is, in part, thanks to its growing celebrity fanbase. Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness told Yahoo Canada that the brand's Balance Blush Bronzer was their "gateway drug" into blush. Which, by the way, made Harper "so, so proud and happy" to hear. Actress Lily Gladstone, who made history in 2024 as the first Native American nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, was "adamant" about her makeup artist using Cheekbone Beauty, according to Harper. Celebrity sisters Erin and Sara Foster spotlighted the Horizon Lip Pencil in Sand on their podcast, "The World's First Podcast with Erin & Sara Foster," which resulted in hundreds of sales shortly thereafter. We sold "800 [units] in eight hours. That's insane for a small business," Harper recalled. The Fosters "keep coming back," Harper said. "They buy three sand lip pencils every time for the past like, three years." It "is so hard building a business," Harper admitted. "So when you hear feedback like that" from JVN, Gladstone, and other public figures, "it's still a massive pinch-me moment. [...] It's incredible." From the do-it-all product she is "hands down [...] not living without" to her favourite Canadian beauty products, here are five things Cheekbone Beauty founder Jenn Harper is Adding to Cart.
