India have retained several key players, including skipper Ayush Mhatre, vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra and charismatic opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi — fresh from a successful tour of England — for the upcoming away Under-19 series against Australia later this year.
India will play three one-dayers and two four-day games against the Australian U-19 side, beginning with the first limited-overs match on September 21. The tour will end on October 10.
'The Junior Selection Committee has picked India U19's squad for the upcoming tour of Australia in September. The India U19 side will play three one-day games and two multi-day matches against Australia's U19 side,' said BCCI secretary Devajot Saikia in a statement on Wednesday.
The India U-19 side recently returned from the tour of England, beating the hosts 3-2 in the Youth ODIs, while the two Youth Tests ended in draws.
India's top order played a pivotal role in the visitors clinching the one-day series, with centuries from Suryavanshi and Vihaan helping them win the decisive fourth match in Worcester by posting a mammoth 363 after batting first.
The junior selection committee has also named five standby players.
Schedule: (one-day series) September 21, 24 and 26. Four-day games: September 30-October 3 and October 7-10.
India U19 squad: Ayush Mhatre (c), Vihaan Malhotra (vc), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Vedant Trivedi, Rahul Kumar, Abhigyan Kundu (wk), Harvansh Singh (wk), R S Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Naman Pushpak, Henil Patel, D Deepesh, Kishan Kumar, Anmoljeet Singh, Khilan Patel, Udhav Mohan, Aman Chauhan.

Golf-Birthday girl Yamashita clings to Women's Open lead despite wobbly round

Aug 2 (Reuters) - Japan's Miyu Yamashita celebrated her 24th birthday by maintaining her grip on the Women's Open lead but it was hardly the smooth ride she might have hoped for after a stuttering 74 in the third round at Royal Porthcawl on Saturday. HT Image Yamashita, who had surged into a three-shot lead on Friday with a sparkling seven-under 65, found herself in a much scrappier battle where she carded four bogeys to slip back to nine-under overall. She was just one stroke ahead of South Korea's Kim A-lim, who applied the pressure with a flawless 67 that featured five birdies, while American Andrea Lee also shot 67 to sit one shot further back in third place. "I felt quite nervous today and playing in that wind was quite tough. I didn't feel like my game was quite there," Yamashita told Sky Sports. "Unfortunately it wasn't quite where I wanted it to be today. It just felt like the shots weren't going my way. "This is a huge tournament, one I've wanted to win for a long time, being a major. But tomorrow I can't really think of that too much, I just need to take every shot as it comes and that's how I'm going to get myself around the golf course." Yamashita's troubles began early when she made her first bogey in 24 holes on the fifth, misjudging an uphill birdie attempt before missing her next shot as well to drop to 10-under. The drama continued at the eighth where she found a bunker, though she responded with a brilliant recovery to find the green and salvage par with a simple putt. Another missed putt on the 10th cut her lead to just one stroke before Yamashita steadied herself with back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th to restore her three-shot cushion. MONSTER PUTT After two more dropped shots, she then produced a monster putt on the 17th for par with what was arguably the shot of the day from 35 feet after finding another bunker, though she could not convert a birdie chance on the final hole. England's Charley Hull provided some home excitement, storming up the leaderboard with a 66 that included seven birdies to reach joint-fourth alongside Rio Takeda, Minami Katsu and Megan Khang. Hull's eventful day included nearly hitting Minjee Lee with a wayward drive that bounced in front of the Australian just as she prepared for her tee shot on another hole. Hull could have finished with a birdie on the 18th to move up to third but missed her putt from eight feet to settle for six-under overall. "I felt like you had to go out there and shoot a good score. It was quiet with no wind to begin with, then a couple of holes in it got pretty windy," Hull said. "I felt pretty confident. A shame about the last hole, but it was quite a tricky putt down the slope and I could feel both breaks on it." World number one Nelly Korda had a look of resignation on her face when she endured a disappointing 74, her poorest round which included four bogeys, to stay level on par overall and tied for 36th. 'The Wind' Blows In Ferrari's Favour: McLaren's 'Pathetic' Excuse After Leclerc Pole At Hungarian GP

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc claimed a surprise pole at the Hungarian GP, beating McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris in changing weather. It's Ferrari's first pole of 2025. After dominating every practice session throughout the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, McLaren were left stunned during Saturday's qualifying as Ferrari's Charles Leclerc surged to a surprise pole position under rapidly changing weather conditions. Having set the pace in all three practice sessions, McLaren entered qualifying as clear favourites. But when it mattered most, series leader Oscar Piastri and his teammate — and closest title rival — Lando Norris found themselves outpaced by Leclerc's perfectly timed final lap. Piastri, who leads the championship standings after 13 of the 24 scheduled races, was left to reflect on what might have been after qualifying second on the grid. 'I think the wind changed a lot," said the Australian. 'It always sounds so pathetic, blaming things on the wind, but the wind basically did a 180 from Q1 to Q3, so it just meant a lot of the corners felt completely different." Piastri admitted that the shift in conditions caught him off guard. 'My first lap in Q3 felt pretty terrible because I wasn't used to it, and then I thought the second lap was better – but it was even slower," he said. 'It's so difficult to judge in those conditions – and maybe not the best execution. I was a bit surprised that we couldn't go quicker than that. Second is still a decent spot to start. We'll see what we can do tomorrow." Norris, who qualified third and sits just 16 points behind Piastri in the championship, echoed similar frustrations, suggesting the team may have been too conservative as the wind disrupted their usual rhythm. 'I think Charles did a good job on the last lap and he probably risked a bit more in these conditions," said Norris. 'The wind changed a lot and it really seemed to punish us in a bigger way." Leclerc Takes First Pole of 2025 Leclerc's pole lap not only secured his first-ever top spot in Hungary but also marked Ferrari's first pole of the 2025 season and the 27th of his career. It was a dramatic turnaround for the Italian team, who have struggled to consistently challenge McLaren and Red Bull this year. His late flyer in Q3 edged out Piastri by just 0.021 seconds, with Norris another 0.032 seconds behind — underlining just how tight the session was. Historic Qualifying Tightness In fact, just 0.543 seconds separated pole-sitter Leclerc from 10th-placed rookie Isack Hadjar of Racing Bulls, making it one of the closest qualifying sessions in Formula One history.
