Business Upturn11-07-2025
SPML Infra Limited, one of India's top water infrastructure companies, has secured a major project worth ₹385 crore under the Government of India's flagship Jal Jeevan Mission. This ambitious project, known as the Water Production and Supply System for the Kekri-Sarwar Sector Package-III in Ajmer, Rajasthan, is a critical step towards enhancing rural water infrastructure. It also includes a 10-year Operation and Maintenance contract, ensuring the long-term sustainability and efficiency of the system.
The Kekri Water Supply Scheme, funded under the Jal Jeevan Mission, aims to provide safe and reliable drinking water to every household in the Kekri-Sarwar region. This initiative will upgrade the existing water supply framework by drawing water from the Bisalpur Dam and channeling it through newly built infrastructure, significantly improving water availability in Ajmer district.

Central to this project is the development of a high-capacity 160 MLD Water Treatment Plant at Kekri, which will meet stringent quality standards. The project also includes the construction of two major Clear Water Reservoirs with a combined storage capacity of 37.75 MLD, ensuring uninterrupted water supply. A 58.675-kilometer-long MS pipeline will be laid to connect the treatment plant to Nasirabad, forming a resilient transmission network.
To boost operational control, SPML Infra will integrate advanced pumping systems, electrical and mechanical equipment, and a full SCADA monitoring system for real-time management. In addition, civil infrastructure work such as new office buildings and staff quarters will be developed to support smooth project execution and operations.
This project not only underlines SPML Infra's leadership in water infrastructure but also plays a vital role in supporting the Indian government's mission to deliver clean drinking water across rural India. Through modern engineering and long-term maintenance, the initiative is set to transform the water landscape of the Kekri-Sarwar region and enhance the quality of life for thousands of residents.

Trump admin live updates: GOP megabill could add $4.1T to the debt, CBO says

Previously, the CBO said the bill would add $3.4 trillion to the deficit. 2:25 President Donald Trump is back to Washington, where he says he's expecting this week to hire a new commissioner for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The president's envoy is expected to travel this week to Russia, as the White House continues pushing for negotiations to end Moscow's war in Ukraine. Trump megabill could add $4.1T to deficit over next decade, new analysis states A new analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said President Donald Trump's sweeping tax cut and spending bill passed last month will create $718 billion in additional debt-service costs, bringing the law's overall debt projection to $4.1 trillion over 10 years. "As a result, and net of any changes in borrowing for federal credit programs, the agency estimates that the legislation will increase debt held by the public at the end of 2034 by 9.5 percentage points relative to CBO's January 2025 baseline budgetary projections of gross domestic product (GDP). Other factors, such as administrative actions affecting tariffs and immigration, also have affected deficits and debt since January 2025 and will be reflected in CBO's next baseline," the report stated. < Previously, the CBO said the Senate's final version of Trump's massive policy and tax bill would add $3.4 trillion to the deficit over the next decade. India's Ministry of External Affairs released a statement detailing why it buys certain commodities from Russia and called the targeting of India "unjustified and unreasonable." "India's imports are meant to ensure predictable and affordable energy costs to the Indian consumer. They are a necessity compelled by global market situation. However, it is revealing that the very nations criticizing India are themselves indulging in trade with Russia. Unlike our case, such trade is not even a vital national compulsion," the ministry said.
