Milei's FX Gambit Sparks Sharpest Demand for Dollars Since 2019
Demand for dollars in Argentina hit its highest since 2019 after President Javier Milei all but eliminated foreign-exchange restrictions in the crisis-prone South American nation.
About a million Argentines purchased a net total of $1.9 billion worth of greenbacks in April, according to central bank data. That's up sharply from March, when 34,000 people bought just $6 million in US currency.

Egyptian inflation accelerated for a third month, exceeding estimates and potentially making the central bank more cautious in extending a monetary-easing cycle. Consumer prices in urban areas grew an annual 16.8% in May versus 13.9% the month before, Egypt's main statistics body said Wednesday. On a monthly basis, inflation was 1.9% versus 1.3% in April.

Poland to Hold Rates, Focus on Glapinski's Tone
Poland is set to keep interest rates on hold, with investors focusing on central bank Governor Adam Glapinski's outlook for borrowing costs following a pivotal presidential election. A month after the Monetary Policy Council cut its benchmark by half a point, all but one of 27 economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect the panel to keep rates steady at 5.25% on Wednesday. Glapinski and other policymakers have signaled that rates should stay flat in June before potential further easing later this year.
