Tate McRae Is Getting A Ton Of Hate For Collaborating With Morgan Wallen On His New Album, And It's All Making Me Extremely Uncomfy
It's official: Tate McRae is one of Gen Z's newest, biggest, and best pop stars. If you don't agree, I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Love her or hate her, Tate is absolutely taking over the pop music scene.
In case you want some background on her success, here it is: Tate's new album, So Close to What, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and she's also about to embark on a massive arena tour. People often call Tate "the new Britney," because they kinda give off the same vibe (and, uh, Tate was a professional dancer).
But while Tate's fanbase has been growing dramatically, it's a bit of a different story for country singer Morgan Wallen. He's been the subject of several scandals over the years that have put a bad taste in peoples' mouths — including using the n-word in 2021 and getting arrested twice for "disorderly conduct" in 2020 and 2024.
Most recently, you might remember that Morgan walked off the set of Saturday Night Live a couple weeks ago, which sparked controversy (and became the subject of many jokes).
All of these instances have led to several other celebs openly calling out Morgan. So basically, supporting him isn't really the vibe for many other singers right now.
In 2021, Justin Bieber apologized publicly after posting Morgan's music on his Instagram Story, saying he "[doesn't] support or tolerate any sort of racism or discrimination."
Well, here's where things get interesting. Leading up to the release of his new album, Morgan confirmed through a tweet posted on April 9 that the song "What I Want" will be a duet with a female artist.
Then, on April 15, Tate posted a photo to her Instagram Story of an orange jersey with "T8" written on it, along with Morgan's "MW" logo in small letters. So fans connected the dots, and they turned out to be right — on April 16, Morgan Wallen confirmed Tate will indeed be featured on his album.
Given Morgan's controversies, fans are now putting Tate on blast, expressing their disappointment that she'd support him by being featured on his song:

Comedian and media pundit Bill Maher is advising Democrats to 'win' back tech billionaire Elon Musk after the world's richest man fell out publicly with President Trump. Maher slammed some Democratic strategists' proposal that the party needs to have its own version of Joe Rogan. Trump said Thursday at the White House that he had a 'great' relationship with Musk, but that might not be the case anymore. The tech billionaire and former Department of Government Efficiency adviser then fired back, signaling he is open to forming a third party, backing calls for Trump to be impeached and accusing the president of being listed in the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump warned that he could opt to cut off Musk's companies' contracts with the federal government. 'So I think we call that a gettable voter, someone who's mulling a change,' Maher said of Musk. 'Maybe this will put quietest to the nonsense that Elon and Rogan too went to the dark side.' Ever since suffering heavy losses during the 2024 election cycle, Democrats are looking to rebuild their image, shore up their base and find ways to effectively counter Trump. The party is also looking for its next leader. Democrats have also expressed frustration about efforts to bring men into their coalition who, in November, backed Trump over former Vice President Harris. The GOP did a better of job of speaking to men during the race, particularly younger men, through mediums such as podcasts. 'They kicked our a‑‑es all over the place with these guys,' one top Democratic strategist told The Hill. 'They met male voters exactly where they were and we, on the other hand, had nothing comparable.' At least one House Democrat is open to wooing back Musk, who previously was a Democratic Party donor, into the party's tent. 'If Biden had a big supporter criticize him, Trump would have hugged him the next day. When we refused to meet with @RobertKennedyJr, Trump embraced him & won. We can be the party of sanctimonious lectures, or the party of FDR that knows how to win & build a progressive majority,' Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) said in a Thursday post on social media platform X.

Third Culture Content (TCC), the Los Angeles and Seoul-based production company, has partnered with Taiwan's S11 Partners and PTS XS to launch 'All Star,' a Chinese-language incubator program targeting creators of young adult content. Dave Chappelle Reflects On 2016 Trump ‘SNL' Speech
Source: Arturo Holmes / Getty For comedian Dave Chappelle, the opening monologue he gave as the host of Saturday Night Live after the 2016 presidential election isn't something he regrets. He had the chance to reflect on it during a conversation with comedian Mo Amer for the Actors on Actors series for Variety. 'I haven't watched it in a while, but I remember it fondly,' Chappelle said at the 27-minute mark of the conversation, which was shared Wednesday (June 4) after Amer asked him about his perspective on it from back then to now. The monologue went viral, as Chappelle declared that 'an internet troll' had won the White House, also pointing out his history of sexual assault. He would then segue into how he felt after former President Barack Obama won in 2008. 'And it made me very happy about the prospects of our country,' he said then. 'So, in that spirit, I'm wishing Donald Trump luck. And I'm going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too.''Oh, I remember that part,' Chappelle said. 'You know what? I look at it like a photograph. That's what it felt like in that moment. Now, if it ages well or not, I don't get mad if I look at a picture because it's not today. That's what it was at that time.' He continued, 'You might look at an old set and cringe, but you could just cringe because of how you were at that time. And in that sense, I'm fine with it.' Chappelle's conversation with Amer is one of the rare moments he's opened up for media – he has declined direct interviews in the wake of brushback from jokes he made against the transgender community in his 2021 Netflix special The Closer . But he and the Palestinian comedian bonded during the COVID-19 pandemic, making this a keen opportunity for the two to talk about comedy and their perspectives on the current times particularly with Amer's hit Netflix show.
