Chanakya Opportunities Fund
I, an SME-Exchange focused Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) and part of
Steptrade Capital
, has announced a strategic investment in Polite Powertech.
Chanakya has taken the lead in the
pre-IPO funding
round by investing over 15% of the total capital raised, part of its commitment to support fast-growing and sustainability-focused companies in India's power infrastructure sector.
Polite Powertech led by promoter and director, Yogesh Patel has more than 15 years of experience and specialises in executing turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects across EHV (Extra High Voltage) cable systems, MV/LV/HV distribution networks, and solar power installations. The company has already laid 4,000 kms of transmission lines, 30 turnkey projects and power distribution work over the years, it said.
Kresha Gupta, Director and Fund Manager at Steptrade Capital, said, 'At Chanakya Opportunities Fund, our core philosophy is to back companies that contribute meaningfully to a sustainable and improved future. From power infrastructure to renewable energy and defense, our investments reflect this long-term vision. Polite Powertech is a powerful addition to our mission and a promising force in India's electricity transmission landscape.'
The investment aligns with significant government initiatives supporting the power infrastructure sector even as the Government of Gujarat has allocated Rs1 lakh crore to accelerate the development of
underground transmission lines
and substations. Programs such as the Revamping Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS),
Green Energy Corridor
II (GEC II), and the projects of Under Ground (UG) transmission lines underscore the government's commitment to enhancing the reliability, sustainability, and efficiency of India's electricity grid.
Polite Powertech closely works with Government's Power Transmission and Distribution companies and bids for tenders of GETCO and DISCOMs. Polite Powertech also undertake private industrial projects from major private players. Leveraging its strong execution capabilities, it has gained credibility and recognition across the industry.
With this investment, Steptrade Capital continues to position itself at the forefront of India's infrastructure transformation by supporting visionary entrepreneurs building the next generation of sustainable networks, it said in a statement.

Ludhiana PF office holds awareness seminar on PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.

Ludhiana: The newly launched Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) offers a compelling benefit of up to Rs15,000 to first-time employees in their first year, split into two instalments, creating an incentive for formal job entry and retention. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now During the awareness seminar held at the provident fund (PF) office on Wednesday, regional provident fund commissioner-I Saurabh Swami spoke about the benefits of the scheme. He said he would make sure that the staff was available for resolution of any problems and address all queries at the office in Ludhiana. Under part-A of the scheme, first-time employees registered with EPFO earning up to Rs1 lakh per month will receive a one-month EPF wage, capped at Rs15,000, disbursed in two instalments. The first after six months of continuous employment, and the second after 12 months. It would also require completion of a government-mandated financial literacy programme. In addition to empowering employees financially, the scheme strengthens job stability. When workers see that formal employment comes with tangible benefits, it encourages them to stay longer, improving retention and reducing turnover, officials at the seminar stated. They said that for first-time workers receiving Rs15,000 from the government, even before tax deductions, makes formal jobs significantly more attractive. It smooths their entry into the system and gives them the security to plan ahead. The officials also outlined hiring incentives for employees as well. The PM-VBRY officially began on August 1, 2025 and will continue till July 31, 2027. With a budget of Rs 99,446 crore, the scheme aims to generate 3.5 crore new jobs, of which an estimated 1.92 crore are expected to benefit first-time job seekers, officials stated. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The seminar, attended by a number of industry and employee representatives, was designed to break down the process. By combining direct support for employees with hiring incentives for employers, PM-VBRY is designed to create a mutually beneficial cycle, motivating industries to recruit more and giving workers the assurance that their jobs come with social security, career growth opportunities, and financial protection, the officials said.

NMC to raise 400 crore via municipal & green bonds

Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has now changed its fundraising strategy. Instead of taking out loans from public sector banks, the civic body now plans to raise Rs400 crore through municipal and green bonds. The NMC has submitted a proposal to state govt's urban development department for approval to issue these bonds. As per the plan, municipal bonds will be issued in the first phase, followed by green bonds in the second phase — both within the current financial year. Municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri, while talking to TOI, confirmed that the earlier plan to secure loans from public sector banks has been cancelled. "We have instead opted to raise funds through municipal and green bonds. We will be raising Rs 200 crore each from municipal and green bonds. The corporation will receive incentives of over Rs 50 crore from the Centre if it raises funds through municipal and green bonds," Khatri said. "The entire Rs 400 crore will be raised in the current financial year. Initially, we will raise funds through municipal bonds and later through green bonds," she added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Were So Beautiful Before; Now Look At Them; Number 10 Will Shock You Reportingly Undo The NMC has submitted a Rs15,000 crore plan to state govt for the upcoming Kumbh Mela. During the last Kumbh Mela in 2015, state govt had approved Rs1,050 crore Kumbh Mela plan of the NMC. The NMC has also deployed credit agencies to assess the credit ratings of the municipal corporation as it is mandatory for raising the funds through bonds. State poised to lead India's quantum technology push: Raichur MP

Bengaluru: Karnataka is ready to play a leading role in shaping India's quantum technology land-scape, Raichur MP G. Kumar Naik told the Lok Sabha on Monday while welcoming the Centre's decision to invest in the National Quantum Mission (NQM). Speaking under Rule 377, Naik stressed the need for better coordination, a clear im-plementation roadmap, and cooperative federalism to ensure that the mission delivers measurable outcomes. Drawing lessons from India's semiconductor programme, he warned against the risk of ambitious projects stalling despite large budget allocations. Naik highlighted Karnataka's early strides in the sector, including the announcement of a Rs1,000-crore Quantum Fund — the first of its kind in the country — and a compre-hensive vision for quantum technology development under Chief Minister Siddara-maiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. He credited State Science and Technology Minister N.S. Boseraju for conceptualising and executing the inaugural Quantum India Summit 2025 in Bengaluru, which brought together Nobel Laureates, global experts, industry leaders, and researchers. Key state initiatives include a dedicated Quantum Research Park and Q-City, Fabline, quantum coursework in over 20 colleges, and a strong startup ecosystem. Karnataka produces more than 91,000 quantum-relevant graduates annually, second only to the EU, Naik said. Boseraju added that the success of the national mission depends on the State and Centre working 'hand-in-hand' with shared vision, strategic coordination, and sus-tained investment in talent and infrastructure.
