OGW among two detained under PSA in J&K's Kishtwar
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday detained an overground worker (OGW) and a criminal under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Kishtwar district, said officials.
The duo was repeatedly involved in activities prejudicial to public peace and national security.
Kishtwar senior superintendent of police (SSP) Naresh Singh said one of the accused, Rustam Ali Bagwan ,son of Fateh Mohammad Bagwan of Hunjala was an active OGW. 'He was found providing logistic support and maintaining close links with terrorist elements operating in the region. His involvement posed a serious threat to the security and sovereignty of the union territory,' said the SSP.
Acting on credible inputs, a detailed dossier was prepared by Kishtwar police, and upon approval from the competent authority, he was booked under PSA and lodged in Kotbhalwal Central Jail in Jammu, he added.
The second accused, Arshad Hussain, son of Abdul Wahid Sheikh of Guriyan was a habitual burglar with a long history of criminal activities.
'Despite being involved in multiple theft cases and having received several warnings, he continued his unlawful behaviour, creating fear and insecurity among the general public. On the orders of the Kishtwar district magistrate, he was detained under the PSA and has been lodged in Kathua district jail,' said the SSP.
The detention orders in both cases were issued by the Kistwar district magistrate.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 3 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has sacked three government employees allegedly working for terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), said sources on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Malik Ishfaq Naseer, who was working as a police constable; Ajaz Ahmed, working as a teacher in the school education department; and Waseem Ahmad Khan, a Junior Assistant in Government Medical College, Srinagar, the sources added. Since taking office in August 2020, Manoj Sinha has prioritised weakening terrorism's infrastructure by targeting both active terrorists and their support networks, including overground workers (OGWs) and sympathisers embedded in government institutions. Sinha has ensured aggressive counter-terrorism operations, with security forces neutralising hundreds of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir between 2020 and 2024 and termination of more than 70 OGW/Terror associates from government jobs under Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution. This comes a month after the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, where terrorists killed around 26 civilians, mostly tourists in Baisaran valley of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier on May 31, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested two men, both brothers, for supplying Indian SIM cards to Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). According to the police, the apprehended individuals were Hasin and Kasim, both residents of Rajasthan. According to the officials, the accused, Hasin, had visited Pakistan around 15 years back as his relatives reside there. Currently, he has been in touch with ISI officials for around 4-5 years. In August 2024, he sent SIM cards to Pakistan through Kasim. One of the SIM cards is in his name, and it was used by PIO. During interrogation, it was revealed that Hasin sent pictures of sensitive army establishments to the PIO and received money in lieu of that. The officials added that he also provided OTP with the ability to activate WhatsApp in Pakistan. His ISI handlers also helped him to get a Pakistani Visa for his younger brother Kasim, his brother-in-law and sister when they had gone to Pakistan in August 2024, the police said. (ANI)

J&K LG dismisses 3 govt employees for links with terror outfits
Srinagar: Continuing action against the terror ecosystem, J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday dismissed three government employees for their links with terrorist outfits. Officials said that in a major crackdown on terror sympathisers embedded in the government system, the Lt Governor dismissed Jammu and Kashmir Police constable Malik Ishfaq Naseer, School Education Department teacher Ajaz Ahmed and Government Medical College, Sringar, junior assistant Waseem Ahmad Khan for their involvement with Pakistan backed terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). "The three of them were found to be active terror associates, facilitating arms smuggling, attacks on security forces, and providing logistical support to terrorists. All three are currently in judicial custody," an official said. The Lt Governor is empowered with the authority to dismiss government employees linked to terrorists in J&K. These dismissals are carried out without following the usual procedure needed for such action, as special powers vested in the Lt Governor do not require holding the time-consuming procedure detailed otherwise in the service rules. Under provisions of Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, the Lt Governor can bypass the usual procedure whenever the activities of any government employee are found detrimental to the interests of the state and aimed at secession and anti-national activities. In the past as well, the Lt Governor has dismissed over two dozen government employees linked with terrorism. Before the abrogation of Article 370, the hold of the state government on its employees was so loose that the government employees' association in Kashmir was also a constituent of the separatist All Party Hurriyat Conference. The Kashmir Bar Association, the elected body of lawyers, was also a member of the separatist amalgamation.
