MONTREAL, May 29, 2025 /CNW/ - Desjardins Group has released its 2024 Social and Cooperative Responsibility Report and its Climate Action at Desjardins report. These reports outline how North America's largest financial cooperative is increasingly integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into its operations, products and services. The publications also describe Desjardins's commitment to helping its members and clients transition to a more just and equitable low-carbon economy.

Environmental
Desjardins continues to work toward the climate ambition it set in 2021, which includes achieving net zero emissions by 2040 for its operations and financial activities in sectors that are key to the climate transition, such as energy, transportation and real estate. The organization has also set intermediate targets to promote the development of renewable energy sources.
Highlights:
Successfully built a $2 billion investment portfolio dedicated to renewable energy infrastructure before the target date of year-end 2025.
Provided more than $6 billion in financing to support energy transition and renewable energy projects since 2020. As at December 31, 2024, renewable energy accounted for 69% of Desjardins's energy sector banking portfolio.
Issued €500 million in sustainable bonds on the European market, which will enable Desjardins to finance climate-related and environmental projects.
More than 2,000 Desjardins employees have participated in Climate Fresk since 2022, and in doing so they have actively strengthened the financial cooperative's internal culture on climate issues.
Social
Social considerations remain central to Desjardins's priorities, as demonstrated by new targets and projects that promise to have positive social benefits.
Highlights:
Published new diversity targets to achieve more equitable representation throughout the organization.
Set up a number of initiatives to support businesses led by women and Indigenous people.
Continued to support affordable housing by collaborating with key partners and various levels of government. At the end of 2024, seven housing projects with a total of 1,182 units had been completed and another 12 housing projects with a total of 780 units were under construction.
Governance
To support sound governance and continuous improvement, Desjardins officially separated the duties of the Chair of the Board and the President and CEO. This decision reflects the best practices applicable to the financial sector.

In Chongqing, The vehicle's multiple perception sensors maintained flawless situational awareness. The traffic light recognition of NCA ensured seamless intersection navigation through the complex road conditions, while adaptive speed control and intelligent lane-changing assist handled elevation changes and merges with confidence. The Advanced Valet Parking (AVP) system impressed the media by automatically navigating to previously used parking spots. NEW YORK, /CNW/ - Canada is a dynamic country that celebrates our diversity, cares for the most vulnerable among us, and strives for a better future for all. This week, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario, brought that message to the United Nations (UN) where she led Canada's delegation to the 18th session of the UN Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which took place from June 10 to 12 in New York City. As global challenges intensify, the Government of Canada is working with domestic and international partners to remove barriers for persons with disabilities to help create a more inclusive future for everyone. Delegates from various countries met around this year's overarching theme, "Enhancing public awareness of the rights and contributions of persons with disabilities for social development leading up to the Second World Summit for Social Development." Important discussions also took place on innovative ways to finance disability inclusion, inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI), and protecting and promoting the rights of Indigenous persons with disabilities. During the opening session of the Conference, Minister Hajdu reaffirmed Canada's commitment to advancing disability inclusion. The Minister highlighted the importance of collaborating with the disability community to develop key elements of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan, such as the Canada Disability Benefit and the Employment Strategy for Canadians with Disabilities. When it comes to advancing disability-inclusive AI, Minister Hajdu noted that Canada introduced a national standard on accessible and equitable AI, which helps ensure no one is left behind in technological progress. The Minister also emphasized Canada's commitment to reconciliation and justice for Indigenous persons with disabilities, guided by the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. As part of the Conference, Canada hosted a side event on inclusive AI, where participants shared best practices on how AI can be leveraged to foster meaningful workforce participation for persons with disabilities. The Minister also participated in bilateral meetings with her counterparts from France, Ireland and Brazil to share valuable insights and learn from other countries' experiences in advancing disability inclusion. The three sub-themes discussed at this year's session were: empowering persons with disabilities and enhancing social development policies through innovative financing. leaving no one behind: using AI as a tool for supporting inclusivity to strengthen the participation of persons with disabilities. recognizing and addressing the rights of Indigenous persons with disabilities and their role in advancing disability inclusion. The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted by the General Assembly on December 13, 2006, and came into force on May 3, 2008. VANCOUVER, BC, June 12, 2025 /CNW/ - The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects. The proposed amendments are intended to clarify, harmonize and streamline Canada's mining disclosure regime without introducing any new requirements. The proposed amendments would update and enhance the standards for disclosing scientific and technical information about mineral projects to address evolving disclosure practices and policy considerations identified by CSA staff, and to reflect changing industry and investor expectations. "Our goal is to provide investors with clear, reliable information about mineral projects so they can make informed decisions, without imposing an undue regulatory burden on mining issuers," said Stan Magidson, CSA Chair and Chair and CEO of the Alberta Securities Commission. "By modernizing and streamlining the disclosure regime, we aim to maintain Canada's position as the global standard for mining disclosure." The proposed amendments to National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects are designed to: remove or replace certain definitions and requirements that have become outdated modernize and streamline certain requirements to reflect current industry practice provide clarification and guidance on certain definitions and requirements, and make other minor language changes to clarify disclosure requirements. The proposed amendments are being published for a 120-day comment period and are available on CSA member websites. In April 2022, the CSA published CSA Consultation Paper 43-401 Consultation on National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects to inform this project. The CSA received valuable feedback from a large number of market participants, which it has considered. The CSA, the council of the securities regulators of Canada's provinces and territories, coordinates and harmonizes regulation for the Canadian capital markets.
