PSG star 'tempted' by Man Utd transfer as Ruben Amorim considers major change
Manchester United no longer has the pull it once had but a PSG star is nonetheless willing to leave the Champions League winners to join the Premier League strugglers.
United endured a miserable 2025-26 campaign under Erik ten Hag and his successor Ruben Amorim, finishing just 15th in the Premier League table, some 24 points outside the Champions League places.
The Red Devils fared better in Europe but losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final means Manchester United will not be involved in any European competition next season.
Paris Saint-Germain, in contrast, enjoyed a stunning 12 months, winning their first ever Champions League trophy and a domestic double under Luis Enrique.
One of the key members of Enrique's squad, despite the abundance of attacking talent in Paris, was Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 26-year-old European Championship winner produced a string of superb saves in PSG's Champions League knockout wins over Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal.
Given Donnarumma's influence in the French capital, it is a surprise that he has entered the final 12 months of his contract with PSG and yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.
L'Equipe say contract talks began 'several months ago' but a positive outcome is still yet to be reached, with Donnarumma's camp said to be disappointed by the terms offered in earlier offers.
The French outlet say a number of clubs are monitoring Donnarumma's situation, with Manchester United and Manchester City showing interest in bringing the shot-stopper to the Premier League.
It is claimed Donnarumma is 'tempted' by switches to both clubs and has even discussed a move to the Premier League with some of his international teammates.
United's interest in Donnarumma suggests Amorim is considering replacing current Old Trafford No. 1 Andre Onana, who endured an inconsistent season in Manchester.
Onana featured in a Champions League final shortly before his £47m move from Inter Milan but has largely struggled at Manchester United.
Man City, meanwhile, are looking for a long-term replacement for Ederson, who has spent almost a decade at the Etihad Stadium, lifting six league title.
The 31-year-old Brazilian has been one of the best goalkeepers in the worldsince joining Manchester City but appears to be on the decline approaching his 32nd birthday.
Asked about his future at PSG after lifting the Champions League trophy, Donnarumma said: 'I don't know yet what's going to happen.
'I haven't decided anything. For the moment, I want to focus on the matches with the national team, and nothing else.
'I will discuss the situation at the club in the coming days with the management and my staff. For now, it's still too early.' More Trending
Donnarumma is not the only PSG player being linked with Manchester United. His teammate Goncalo Ramos has reportedly been offered to Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Amorim is desperate to sign a new striker this summer and Portugal international Ramos would be a cheaper alternative to Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
Ramos, 23, scored 18 goals for PSG last season and has nine goals in 15 games for Portugal.
Manchester United considered a move for Ramos before his move to PSG in 2023 and Bruno Fernandes was at the time full of praise for his compatriot.

Manchester United's Profit and Sustainability concerns are set to be eased with one of their former academy players expected to be on the move this summer, just a year ater leaving the Red Devils Manchester United are set to earn a substantial transfer windfall thanks to former star Maxi Oyedele. The United academy graduate left the Red Devils a year ago for Legia Warsaw, having never played a senior game at Old Trafford. But he has starred in Poland, making 24 appearances in all competitions as Legia won the Polish Cup. That was their first major trophy since 2023, with Oyedele playing all 90 minutes of the final. Though he only joined last summer and has two years to run on his contract, the midfielder is attracting strong interest. Werder Bremen, PSV Eindhoven, Anderlecht, Club Brugge and a number of Championship sides are understood to be monitoring the 20-year-old. There is a release clause in his contract that means he is available for a tick over £5million this summer. There is a growing expectation at Legia that he will be departing the club after just one season. If he does indeed move on, it would bank United a healthy sum, which will go a way towards easing their concerns with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules. The Red Devils are hoping to be busy this summer and any fee received will be greatly appreciated. In a surprise move given he left just 12 months ago, United will benefit substantially from Oyedele's potential transfer. When they sold him last summer, United inserted various clauses into the deal. While they only sold him for a small fee, one of the clauses they inserted was a substantial sell-on clause to ensure future profit. That sell-on clause means that United are entitled to 40 per cent of any fee Legia receive for the midfielder. If he is sold for his release clause, it would see United bank just over £2m. That money would likely go straight into easing their PSR concerns, with a buy-back option also included in the original deal. A departure for Oyedele would come as somewhat of a surprise given his short time in Poland. Speaking in April, the youngster insisted he was happy with life in the capital city. 'It's just funny for my mum because she left Poland to come to England and make a life; I left England to go to Poland to start my journey,' Oyedele told The Guardian. 'Legia was the biggest opportunity. "I don't even think I realised how big of an opportunity it was when I heard about it. I felt like this was the opportunity to play in Europe, the biggest team in Poland. It's my nationality, so it's close to the national team. "It's always a risk to leave it, but it just seemed like the best choice. I couldn't afford to waste another year playing academy football. I could have stayed in England and continued my journey and who knows what would have happened." Premier League clubs in the race to sign Newcastle duo with Magpies set for overhaul after securing Champions League qualification
Two Newcastle midfielders could be on their way out of St James' Park this summer amid interest from Premier League sides. The Magpies secured Champions League qualification on the final day of the Premier League season and will be keen to bolster their squad after struggling to deal with the demands of domestic and European football during the 2023-24 campaign. Portugal's emotional Ronaldo rejoices in winning Nations League
MUNICH, Germany, June 8 (Reuters) - Portugal skipper Cristiano Ronaldo shed tears of joy as they won their second Nations League title on Sunday, insisting that winning trophies with his country beats all club honours. Ronaldo's 138th international goal in the second half took the final to penalties after a 2-2 draw with Spain, with the substituted 40-year-old forward looking on from the sidelines as Portugal netted all five spot kicks to claim the title. The triumph, which left the five-times Champions League winner in tears, was Ronaldo's third on the international stage, accompanying his 2016 European Championship and 2019 Nations League winners' medals. "What a joy," Ronaldo told Sport TV. "First of all for this generation, which deserved a title of this magnitude, for our families. My children came here, my wife, my brother, my friends. "Winning for Portugal is always special. I have many titles with clubs, but nothing is better than winning for Portugal. It's tears. It's duty done and a lot of joy. "When you talk about Portugal it is always a special feeling. Being captain of this generation is a source of pride. Winning a title is always the pinnacle in a national team." Ronaldo's future remains uncertain. He said last week he did not plan to play at the Club World Cup in the United States, which starts later this month, despite being courted by clubs taking part in the 32-team tournament.
