‘Dog Man' Arrests $1.36M, ‘Companion' Scares $1.1M In Previews – Friday AM Box Office
Universal/DreamWorks Animation's feature take of Dav Pilkey's Dog Man bit $1.36M in previews yesterday which comps to DWA's previews for The Bad Guys ($1.15M) and Trolls Band Together ($1.3M), those movies respectively opening to $23.9M and $30M.
Dog Man is expected to be the first notable opening of the year, north of $20M. Quorum reports 'Dog Man has been on the rise. Two weeks ago, it was tracking behind Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, which opened to $23M. Today, awareness and unaided awareness are much higher than Paw. Could Dog reach $30M? It certainly seems possible.' Dads and moms under 35 are the strongest as far as those who'll pay to see the movie in a theater. Dog Man is 4 1/2 stars with kids and parents in Screen Engine/Comscore PostTrak exits. The movie is booked at 3,885 theaters. Previews started yesterday at 2PM in 2,950 venues. The animated pic is 77% fresh with Rotten Tomatoes critics.

‘Sinners' Is Now Streaming—How To Watch The Blockbuster Horror Hit At Home
Michael B. Jordan as twins Smoke and Stack in "Sinners." Ryan Coogler's sleepy vampire thriller Sinners dominated the box office this spring, earning more than $316 million worldwide. Now, two months after its theatrical release, the film is finally available on digital platforms for at-home viewing. Keep reading to find out how to watch Sinners for your next horror movie night. Directed by Coogler (Black Panther, Creed), Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan as Smoke and Stack, twin brothers on a mission to leave their troubled lives behind and 'return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back,' according to the synopsis. Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo also appear in the film. According to Warner Bros., Sinners scored the biggest opening for an original film since 2019's Us and is the first horror movie in over 35 years to earn an 'A' CinemaScore. The film also boasts a 97% critics score from 367 reviews and a 96% audience rating from over 25,000 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. 'What a blood rush to exit Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' aware that you've seen not merely a great movie but an eternal movie, one that will transcend today's box office and tomorrow's awards to live on as a forever favorite,' Los Angeles Times critic Amy Nicholson wrote in her glowing review. Ready to watch Sinners from the comfort of your couch? Here's everything you need to know about streaming the highly-rated film digitally, plus how long you might have to see it on Max. "Sinners" (2025) is now streaming. Sinners is currently available to stream on video-on-demand platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Fandango At Home. You can purchase Sinners for $24.99 or rent the film for $19.99. For rentals, you have 30 days to start watching the video and 48 hours to finish once started. Michael B. Jordan as Smoke in "Sinners." Sinners will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on July 8, 2025. (Photo by TheStewartofNY/FilmMagic) Because Sinners is a Warner Bros. film, the vampire thriller will also be available to stream on Max at a later date. The studio typically adds its theatrical releases to the platform between 60 and 100 days after their premiere. With that timeline in mind, Sinners could arrive on Max sometime between mid-June and late July 2025. By comparison, the blockbuster hit A Minecraft Movie is launching on Max in June, about two months after its theatrical release, where it became the No. 1 movie in the U.S. (so far) for 2025. Sinners premiered a few weeks after A Minecraft Movie, and since Max has already announced its June additions, the film will most likely begin streaming in July, possibly in time for Fourth of July weekend. Stay tuned. Watch the official trailer for Sinners below.

Netflix is about to lose the wildest psychological thriller of 2024 — here's your last chance to stream it
"Trap" is one of 2024's more infamous releases; you don't need to look far to find plenty of critics and viewers telling you to steer clear of the M. Night Shyamalan thriller... but I'm no "Trap" denier. I saw this twisting thriller in theaters and left with a smile on my face; despite its flaws, "Trap" is a ton of fun. And, seeing as this movie is leaving Netflix very soon, now seems as good a time as any to recommend it to would-be viewers. Yes, now that we have Netflix's June schedule, we know that your last day to stream "Trap" on Netflix is Tuesday, June 10. As of the time of writing, that means you've got just one week left to stream "Trap" on Netflix, at the time of writing. If you need convincing, you can find a little more info about the movie — and why I think "Trap" is worth adding to your watchlist — below. "Trap" sees American firefighter and picture-perfect suburban dad Cooper Abbott (Josh Hartnett), taking his teen daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to see her favorite popstar, Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan) in concert... where something sinister is about to go down. Turns out the cops believe that a grisly serial killer known as "The Butcher" is also in attendance, so they've got the whole place locked down to finally bring his reign of terror to an end. And given we learn Cooper's the one with a killer secret mere minutes into the film, that presents him with a major problem. How on earth is he going to make it out of the arena? Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In addition to Hartnett, Donohue, and Shyamalan, "Trap" also stars Alison Pill, Hayley Mills, Jonathan Langdon, Marnie McPhail-Diamond, and Mark Bacolcol, among others. Look, I'm not entirely sure that "Trap" is actually a good movie, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a good time when I saw it in theaters. Chiefly, that's because of our protagonist. Josh Hartnett's playful performance is worth the price of admission alone. Watching Cooper puzzle out his predicament is a real treat precisely because Hartnett is so invested in the role. It's the same commitment that makes his recent action-comedy "Bullet Train" riff, "Fight or Flight" work so well. He's committed to doing as much as possible with this absurdly silly conceit. And, while "Trap" at times feels like little more than a way to promote Saleka's music career, when we're outside the concert hall, it's packed with increasingly absurd turns that make it worth sticking with. "Trap" is assuredly messy and will doubtless not work for everyone, but if you can revel in Hartnett's killer charisma and buy into campy storytelling, this is a entertaining ride that lives up to the "thriller" label. Critically, the reaction could politely be described as "mixed." At the time of writing, "Trap" currently holds a 57% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a slightly higher 64% score from fellow moviegoers. As an example of what reviewers had to say, THR's Lovia Gyarkye described "Trap" as "a concert movie for Shyamalan's daughter [...] wrapped in a middling thriller kept afloat by a compelling performance from Josh Hartnett." Entertainment Weekly reviewer Jordan Hoffman called "Trap" Shyamalan's "most preposterous movie yet" and "a film mostly of surface pleasures," but adds "there's a lot of fun waiting to be had for those willing to check any large items like scrutiny or skepticism before entering the arena." Empire's Dan Jolin offers a more negative take, giving it a 2-star rating and calling it "an oddly inert wannabe nail-biter", summing "Trap" up as "an initially cool premise that goes nowhere interesting as it heads off somewhere else too quickly. Hartnett does his best, but director Shyamalan seems more interested in trying to convince us of his daughter's pop-star credentials." Nevertheless, I do think there's some fun to be had with "Trap," and if your interest is piqued, I'd strongly recommend streaming "Trap" on Netflix before it leaves the platform on June 10. Not convinced? We can still help you find something new to watch. Check out our round-up of the best movies on Netflix for tons more streaming recommendations perfect for your next movie night.

Marc Maron announces end of ‘WTF' podcast after 16 years
Comedian Marc Maron announced on the latest episode of his 'WTF' podcast that he was ending the show after a 16-year run. Maron, 61, broke the news at the top of Monday's episode before an interview with guest John Mulaney. 'This podcast will turn 16 years old on Sept. 1. That's a couple months away. Sixteen years, it's a long time,' Maron said. 'It's a long time to do anything, and it's certainly — I've said recently that while I'm living it, I don't feel like time is passing by quickly, but all of a sudden, you're old and you realize you've been doing something for a long time. 'This started in the old garage. No one knew what a podcast was. I was coming out of a horrendous divorce. I was wanting to figure out how to continue living my life. 'Sixteen years we've been doing this and we've decided that we had a great run and now, basically, it's time, folks, It's time.' He added that it was a choice he made alongside longtime producer Brendan McDonald and 'was not some kind of difficult decision.' 'We always said how do we know when we're done? And I always said, 'Whenever Brendan says so.' And he always said, 'If Mark is finished, then we're finished,'' Maron said. 'And thankfully we both realized together that we were done, and there was no convincing or pushback or arguing. We were done. And it's OK, it's OK for things to end… This was a show that started when there were no podcasts. And now, there is nothing but podcasts.' Maron launched 'WTF' in 2009, making it one of the longest-running podcasts, leading to around 2,000 episodes and more than 1 billion downloads. Some of the guests have included other comedians like late 'SNL' comedian Norm Macdonald and former late-night host Conan O'Brien as well as figures like former president Barack Obama and conservationist Jane Goodall. The show revitalized Maron's career, leading to 'Maron,' a sitcom based on his life and roles in Netflix's 'GLOW,' Apple TV's 'Stick,' 'The Bad Guys' animated films and many others. He is also making a new comedy special for HBO that will air in the fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Maron teased on the podcast that the upcoming 'home stretch' would bring as many people onto the show as possible. 'It really comes down to the fact that we have put up a new show every Monday and Thursday for almost 16 years and we're tired and we're burnt out, and we are utterly satisfied with the work we've done,' he said. 'We've done great work.' ________
