The San Diego Padres achieved a convincing 5-1 win over the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park, maintaining their playoff aspirations by staying only two games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West standings.
Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward celebration of impressive pitching and timely hitting was overshadowed by a surprising incident where a young teenager ran onto the field and was forcefully tackled by security.
San Diego Padres fans watch in disbelief as young intruder leaps barrier onto the field
As the eighth inning was winding down and the San Diego Padres were comfortably ahead. A young teen, thought to be around 13 to 15 years old, suddenly burst out from the stands and ran onto the outfield grass.
Witnesses and video evidence show that the teen leaped over a low barrier in the outfield seats, which is a usual entry point for such escapades at Petco Park because of how close it is to the field. Clad in casual dark clothes, the boy seemed to be trying to pull off a fun stunt, maybe inspired by the lull in action during what some fans referred to as a "boring" blowout game.
When the teen dashed across the grass, seemingly targeting the infield or the players, security quickly jumped into action.

Out of nowhere, a third security guard came charging in from a different side and made a strong tackle, knocking the boy to the ground in what many referred to as a "WWE-style takedown." The impact was intense, with the teen hitting the ground hard before extra guards piled on to keep him restrained
Fans demand accountability after claims the teenager was almost paralyzed
After the video went viral, social media was stormed with backlash.
Many fans pointed out the unnecessary aggressiveness of the security guards. One user on X commented, 'Unnecessary roughness and 15 yards at the end of the play' while another user said, 'The dude who literally almost paralyzed him needs to be fired'.
There was also a comment which said, 'That last guy to tackle him sits around all day waiting for someone to run on the field so he can exercise even the smallest amount of power, and he wasn't going to miss his opportunity just because it was a kid who had already stopped running. Pathetic.'.

'Don't know why Hardik Pandya was removed': India's World Cup-winning star stunned by all-rounder's demotion in Asia Cup

The Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee announced India's Asia Cup 2025 squad on Tuesday, and it has raised some eyebrows. The roster includes Shubman Gill, who has been appointed as vice-captain in a team that will be skippered by Suryakumar Yadav. Some notable absentees include Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer. The former selector also questioned the committee's decision on Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder has been included in the squad but has been removed from the vice-captaincy role. But Pandya was also removed from the role already, and it isn't a new development. The last time he was vice-captain was at the 2024 World Cup. 'I don't know why Hardik Pandya has been removed': Madan Lal Speaking to ANI, the 1983 World Cup winner said, 'Sometimes you feel surprised that a player like Yashasvi Jaiswal is not in the team...I don't know why Hardik Pandya has been removed.' 'But Gill is a good choice as he is performing well. In the coming time, it is possible that Gill will play in all three players who make the team win a match must not be left out. ..We have such a good team that we may win the Asia Cup,' he added. Jaiswal has been included in the standby list, along with Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel. The 2025 Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in the UAE, from September 9-28, and India are also the defending champions. The Indian squad also includes Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, who have formed a dominant opening pair in T20Is over the course of the last eight to ten months. But there are question marks over Samson's role as an opener for the tournament due to the inclusion of Gill, who is now expected to open for India.
