Who will England play in the Euros final and when is it on?

Yahoo7 hours ago
England Women's team have been congratulated by royalty and politicians after they made it to the final of Euro 2025.
The Lionesses beat Italy 2-1 in Geneva on Tuesday evening in a nail-biting match that was anyone's game until a late winner in the second half of extra time.
England were on the brink of elimination when 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang came off the bench and rescued Sarina Wiegman's side with a second-half stoppage-time equaliser.
They were given a penalty in the final minutes of extra time and, though Chloe Kelly's initial attempt was saved, the Arsenal forward made no mistake when she buried the rebound, securing a place in the final.

The King and Queen sent the team their 'warmest congratulations', adding: 'Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated.
'Knowing the Lionesses' fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.
'Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible.
What a performance, @Lionesses! Into the final and inspiring the nationLet's bring it home.

Prime minister Keir Starmer posted on X 'what a performance', adding: 'Into the final and inspiring the nation. Let's bring it home.'
All eyes are now on the final, with the Lionesses attempting to do one better than the runner-up spot they reached in 2023.
Who are England playing in the Euros final?
England's opponents are not yet known as the second semi-final is yet to take place.
However, that match – between Germany and Spain – will take place tonight.
Should Spain secure victory over Germany, it will set up a re-run of the 2023 Women's World Cup final – where Spain beat the Lionesses, with a 1-0 victory.
A Spain-England match would also be a repeat of the men's Euro final in 2024 – when Spain again beat England 2-1.
If Germany win their semi-final, it will mean a repeat of the Euro 2022 women's final, which saw the Lionesses win the cup by beating Germany 2-1.
When is the Euro 2025 final?
The final takes place on Sunday 27 July at St Jakob Park, Basel, Switzerland.
Kick-off time will be earlier than the quarter-finals and semi-finals, with the match due to start at 5pm UK time.
Coverage for the finals will kick off at 4pm.
Where can I watch the final?
The final will be broadcast live on both BBC One and ITV1. You will be able to watch both on live TV and through the digital arms of both channels – BBC iPlayer and ITVX.
Scottish viewers will also be able to watch live on STV and STV Player.
Pubs and bars across the country will also be airing the final, should you wish to cheer on England with a crowd.
England's path to the Euro 2025 final
The Lionesses got off to a shaky start as they began their title defence in this year's Euros.
However, they went from strength to strength and the goals quickly began flowing – seeing some huge winning scorelines.
5 July – Group D: France 2 England 1
Goals from Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sandy Baltimore in quick succession in the latter stages of the first half put France on course for a deserved win. Keira Walsh's late strike did not alter the outcome.
9 July – Group D: England 4 Netherlands 0
Lauren James scored twice as England improved and got their campaign up and running. Georgia Stanway and Ella Toone also got on the scoresheet in a commanding display that revived hope of reaching the last eight.
13 July – Group D: England 6 Wales 1
The Lionesses powered into the knockout stages with an emphatic victory that confirmed Wales' elimination. Stanway put them on course with a penalty before Toone, Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo made it 4-0 at half-time. Beth Mead and Aggie Beever-Jones added to the tally either side of a Hannah Cain consolation.
17 July – Quarter-final: Sweden 2 England 2 (after extra time, won 3-2 on penalties)
England survived a nail-biting penalty shoot-out after hauling themselves back from the brink of defeat. Late goals from Lucy Bronze and Michelle Agyemang forced extra time before yet another penalty drama. Just five penalties were scored from 14 taken and Sweden were twice one kick away from victory – but luck was with the Lionesses.
22 July – Semi-final: England 2 Italy 1 (after extra time)
England started slowly and were behind at half-time to Barbara Bonansea's thumping finish after a defensive lapse. Agyemang equalised to force extra time and then hit the bar with a superb lob before fellow substitute Chloe Kelly had a penalty saved but followed up to score.

Justin Thomas Takes Bad News Following Open

Justin Thomas Takes Bad News Following Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It hasn't been a standout golf season for Justin Thomas. The 32-year-old did grab his first win since 2022 back in April, taking down Andrew Novak at the RBC Heritage. Other than that, his year has been mostly average. In the four major tournaments, Thomas missed the cut twice. At the recent Open Championship, he made the cut but failed to finish inside the top 30. To make matters worse, Thomas has now slipped out of the top six in the FedEx Cup standings. He was sitting in sixth before the Open, but Harris English's strong runner-up finish vaulted him four spots up the rankings, pushing Thomas down to seventh. The entire Ryder Cup rankings can be found here: The top six players in the standings automatically qualify for the Ryder Cup. While there's still time for Thomas to climb back into that group, if he doesn't, his fate will be left to Team USA captain Keegan Bradley and his six captain's picks. Thomas was part of the 2023 Ryder Cup team that lost to Europe. He ranked 15th in points and 24th in the world heading into that event. It was his first Ryder Cup loss after victories in 2019 and 2021. In 2023, he went 1-2-1 and earned 1.5 points. Max Homa led the American side with 3.5 points. The top six players after the BMW Championship on August 17 will automatically qualify for Team USA. Scottie Scheffler has already secured a spot, with Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English currently rounding out the top six. Thomas has 10,208.09 points, trailing English, who sits at 10,385.65. Right behind Thomas is Collin Morikawa with 9,743.61 points. The next event on the 2025 PGA Tour is the 3M Open in Minnesota, running July 24–27. After that, the schedule includes the Wyndham Championship, FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship before the season wraps with the Tour Championship at East Lake. Steelers training camp: First look at players arriving at Saint Vincent

After a long and crazy offseason, Pittsburgh Steelers football is finally back. On Wednesday, Steelers players reported to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe to kick off training camp. The Steelers took the sting of last season's playoff blowout loss to motivate the team to give the roster a huge overhaul. With as many as 10 new starters on offense and defense, this year's training camp is going to be vital to avoid getting off to a slow start. The Steelers' 2025 schedule only gets worse as it goes on, so making sure to win games they are supposed to win early will go a long way toward getting back to the playoffs. As is tradition with training camp, Steelers players stay at the dorms at Saint Vincent, and their arrival is always entertaining as you never know what creature comforts players will bring with them, and historically, the Steelers have been known for some very flashy arrivals. Here is an early look at the Steelers' players' arrival at camp. The Steelers will hold their first training camp practice on Thursday afternoon at Saint Vincent College. Alexander Isak Wage Demands Revealed as Liverpool Retain £130m Transfer Hope

Liverpool's Watchful Eye on Alexander Isak Amid Newcastle Contract Turmoil Liverpool are keeping tabs on Alexander Isak as Newcastle United face increasing pressure over the striker's future. As reported by Anfield Index, Lewis Aspinall revealed that Isak is seeking a major pay rise to remain at St James' Park. 'Alexander Isak, after everything that has gone in the past few days and weeks, has said to Newcastle United that he wants a £300,000-per-week contract to stay at Newcastle,' Aspinall told Jack McIndoe. 'They can't go out and say that Alexander Isak is worth £150million and then expect him to be happy with his current contract.' This comment speaks volumes about the situation Newcastle find themselves in. They have publicly placed a marquee valuation on the Swedish striker but have not matched that figure with a suitable wage offer. It is the sort of tension that arises when a club with ambition tries to play in a financial league they have not yet earned the right to stay in comfortably. Liverpool's Calculated Interest Liverpool's interest in Isak is longstanding, and with Hugo Ekitike arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69 million, it might appear that the Reds are done for this window. But sources close to the club suggest Isak remains firmly on their radar. Isak's pace, movement and clinical finishing make him an ideal fit for Arne Slot's attacking system. Slot, who won the Premier League in his debut campaign at Anfield, is now building a squad with Champions League glory in mind. The Dutchman is known to be a fan of versatile forwards who can lead the press and finish in tight spaces, two of Isak's strongest qualities. Jack McIndoe made a salient point: 'It just screams lack of experience at Newcastle United. If they value him at £150m or even higher, because he is a very good player, then they need to give him a new contract.' It is a logical view and one that suggests Isak may not be at Newcastle for much longer if this wage standoff continues. Financial Tensions in the North East Newcastle's dilemma goes deeper than just keeping Isak. As McIndoe noted, 'You'll find Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento will all want new deals.' The club's wage structure, previously modest in comparison to other top-six sides, will now come under serious pressure. 'If Newcastle want to play with the big boys, then they're going to have to start giving out those big contracts,' he added. This could force them into tough decisions, such as the kind Liverpool made when selling Philippe Coutinho. 'We sold Philippe Coutinho for huge money and brought in Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson Becker, who have now helped us win multiple league titles and a UEFA Champions League,' said McIndoe. Newcastle's balancing act will either fast-track their evolution into an elite side or result in departures that reset their progress. Either way, clubs like Liverpool will be watching closely. Final Thoughts Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak is not purely opportunistic. It reflects an elite club's readiness to pounce when uncertainty arises. Arne Slot's side may yet strengthen further, and if Isak's wage dispute leads to a sale, the Reds could be poised to strike.
