I started Serie A's Scottish revolution by leaving Celtic
Read more:
The 28-year-old reached a century of Serie A appearances in the clash. He moved to Italy from Celtic in 2018, first joining Bari, before spells at Hellas Verona, Leece and Palermo. The midfielder is now in his second stint at Empoli.
Henderson's initial switch was, at the time, billed as rather bold, yet several Scots have followed suit since, including Aaron Hickey, Che Adams, Lewis Ferguson, Scott McTominay, and Billy Gilmour.
Indeed, the latter two have realistic hopes of winning the Scudetto this season, especially after Inter Milan slipped up against Bologna last night.
The result means McTominay and Gilmour's Napoli side trail Inter on goal difference only, with the sides level at the summit of Italy's top-flight on 71 points.
Just six matches remain of the season, with the Scotland duo eager to become league champions in their debut seasons since moving from England last summer.
At the foot of the table, Henderson will be hoping to evade relegation with Empoli. One point separates them and a safe spot, with five league fixtures of their own remaining before the campaign is out.
They take on Bologna in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final on Thursday evening, although they are 3-0 down on aggregate.

Hearts are still set to be active in the transfer market as the recruitment window prepares for the home straight. Backed by new minority investor Tony Bloom's Jamestown Analytics, head coach Derek McInnes has made a number of new signings. A goalkeeper could be one of the areas to be bolstered amid some injury issues between the sticks forcing promising stopper Liam McFarlane back from his loan at Alloa Athletic. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad They face Motherwell at home in the Premiership this weekend, looking to make it three wins from three in the league and put the disappointment of a Premier Sports Cup exit to St Mirren behind them. Here are some of the latest headlines when it comes to Hearts. Matt Le Tissier backs Hearts Former Southampton forward and Sky Sports favourite Matt Le Tissier reckons Hearts can topple Celtic as champions in time - with Rangers not even a factor. Bloom has been behind Brighton's rise to Premier League stability an also overseen Union Saint-Gilloise's ascent to become champions of Belgium. When asked if it could see Hearts become title contenders in less than a decade, he took a brutal swipe at Rangers and endorsed the Jambos. He told Football Insider: 'It wouldn't surprise me because the model that he's got down there at Brighton has been incredible. The one massively great thing that Brighton have done well is the recruitment. If they get the recruitment right at Hearts, it's not a league where you're playing teams of the ilk of Liverpool or PSG or Real Madrid, it's only Celtic they've got to take over. They can get there in less than a decade if they get the recruitment right. This season, which I thought was interesting, was Tony Bloom investing at Hearts. 'Now, he doesn't give away his money easily. He'll want to try and shake things up in Scotland and I think I saw in an interview say that he'd want Hearts to be winning the title in the next decade. That's quite a statement, given how dominant Celtic have been and with Rangers normally the ones that are challenging. It would be interesting to see what sort of input he has, what sort of investment they have at Hearts, and just to see if they can actually get closer to the Old Firm.' According to the Daily Record, the man who was interim boss on two occasions at Tynecastle last year is one of the contenders to replace Rhys McCabe. Others in the mix are ex Hibs pair James McPake and Ian Murray, alongside former Larne boss Nathan Rooney. An Airdrie statement on McCabe read: 'Rhys McCabe has decided to step down from his role as player-manager of Airdrieonians with immediate effect. Rhys joined the club as a player in 2021 and was part of the team which went on an incredible 25-game unbeaten run of league fixtures, the longest in the club's history. He was appointed player-manager in the summer of 2022 and quickly gained a reputation for free-flowing football in a debut season which ended with the Diamonds being promoted back to the Championship after a ten-year absence. 'Rhys feels that now is the right time for him to step back from the rigours of management and spend some time with his young family. The Rhys McCabe era has been an exciting one for everyone at the club, and the board of directors would like to place on record their thanks to Rhys for his enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism throughout his time at Airdrieonians. All the best Rhys – and thank you for the memories.' Motherwell eye signing ahead of Hearts The Steelmen have also been busy in the market under Jens Berthel Askou and their new gaffer could be ready to sign another attacking player. According to the same publication, he is targeting Regan Charles-Cook after his spell in Belgium at Eupen. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad He previously shone at Ross County in the Premiership, and in his second season he hit double figures. That earned his move abroad and now a free agent, Motherwell are believed to be confident of landing the attack minded playmaker.

Tottenham can immediately get over Eberechi Eze snub by signing 'future of Real Madrid'
Tottenham have reportedly identified Nico Paz, once dubbed "the future of Real Madrid" by former boss Carlo Ancelotti, as an alternative to Eberechi Eze after he snubbed them for Arsenal Tottenham look to have lost out in the race to sign Crystal Palace sensation Eberechi Eze after rivals Arsenal swooped in with a transfer coup. But Spurs ' next target, Como's Nico Paz, was once hailed as "the future of Real Madrid." Despite Spurs chief Daniel Levy hammering out a £60million proposal for Eze, their north London rivals turned up on Wednesday evening with a £68m package. Thanks to executive vice-chairman Tim Lewis' relationship with Palace's Steve Parish, the Gunners managed to outmanoeuvre their rivals, and Eze has opted for a move to the Emirates. He hopes to play one final time for Palace in their Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad on Thursday evening, but may be held back due to injury risk. Tottenham must now shift their focus elsewhere, and former Real Madrid star Paz is reportedly on their radar and highly regarded. Having all but missed out on long-term target Eze, Thomas Frank's Spurs have turned their attention to other attacking midfield targets. They are keen to bolster this area due to injuries to James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, and the departure of Son Heung-min. The Daily Mail suggests that alongside Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche, Como ace Paz is on the club's shortlist. Paz, born in Tenerife, started his career in local academies before moving to Real Madrid's famed La Fabrica in 2016. He started out as a defender but gradually moved further forward into more attacking positions. Following his B-team debut in 2022, Paz was given his first senior opportunity for Los Blancos in the Champions League clash with Braga 12 months later. His maiden league outing followed shortly afterwards. Alas, facing intense competition for forward positions, he pursued a transfer in August 2024 and joined newly-promoted Serie A outfit Como for a reported £5.1million. He made his debut for the club the following day with immediate impact. Real retain an approximate £10.5m buy-back clause for the youngster, and continue to hold some of his economic rights. The club's former boss Carlo Ancelotti suggested this provision might be triggered down the line while praising the star, which could complicate any potential deal for Spurs. Speaking to Rai Radio 1 last December, Ancelotti was questioned about Paz and couldn't contain his admiration, declaring: "Paz is a player we follow a lot. He is really good. "He's a great talent. This year of training away from Real is doing him a lot of good. We believe he is a player who can be the future of Real Madrid." Paz earned the Serie A Young Player of the Year award in Italy last season. The 20-year-old then won his first Argentina cap against Bolivia in October 2024 and, after setting up the legendary Lionel Messi, received acclaim once more. "Nico Paz has an incredible mindset, and that's why he's where he is," Messi declared following the 6-0 triumph. "Nico has a lot of quality and understands the game perfectly. "He has an incredible mindset, and he's with Cesc Fabregas (manager of Como) as coach, who is my friend and will help him grow a lot." Premier League clubs break window spending record as Okafor joins Leeds
LONDON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The Premier League's transfer spending spree reached record levels with more than a week of trading to go as promoted Leeds United signed AC Milan forward Noah Okafor for a reported 18 million pounds ($24.17 million) on Thursday. Okafor's arrival at Elland Road, following Bournemouth's signing of Amine Adli from Bayer Leverkusen, pushed the total spend beyond the 2.36 billion pounds splashed out in the 2023 summer window, according to Several other big-money deals between now and the closing of the window, including the likely sale of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace to Arsenal, mean spending by the world's most lucrative soccer league could even hit 3 billion pounds. While the list of big spenders is topped by the likes of champions Liverpool (289 million pounds), Chelsea (246 million), Manchester United (208 million) and Arsenal (194 million), even clubs with smaller resources have been splashing the cash. Six clubs have broken their transfer records, including Liverpool paying 100 million pounds, and another 16 million in add-on payments, to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz. Burnley set a new club record by paying 25 million pounds for Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu while fellow promoted club Sunderland did the same by signing midfielder Habib Diarra for 26 million pounds from Strasbourg, part of a 142 million pounds squad-strengthening drive. Despite being outside the Premier League for eight seasons, Sunderland have spent more than any club in Europe's other top leagues apart from Spain's Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. Nottingham Forest broke their transfer record twice during the current window in which they have spent almost 150 million pounds, including the signings of Switzerland winger Dan Ndoye from Bologna and winger Omari Hutchison from Ipswich Town. Spending by England's Premier League this summer is more than that of Italy's Serie A, Germany's Bundesliga, France's Ligue 1 and Spain's LaLiga combined. Serie A is second on the spending list with around 783 million pounds on player investment although the league's clubs have recouped more than that in sales. The Premier League's muscle in the transfer market is largely explained by huge broadcasting deals. This season is the first of a four-year domestic TV rights deal worth a record 6.7 billion pounds.
