Kraft Group inks big IT contract to use AI at Gillette Stadium and across its businesses

Boston Globe18-04-2025

The work started earlier this year, with a replacement of the Krafts' phone systems. But with NWN's artificial intelligence expertise, the potential for this deal goes well beyond making phone calls. Among other things, Kraft Group chief information officer Mike Israel sees efficiency savings at a Rand Whitney factory in Montville, by tracking how long trucks sit in loading docks, and a more fun experience at Gillette, by giving fans the opportunity to use facial recognition to access their digital wallets and 'unlock' their game tickets or buy concessions. The AI tech can also be used to spot when someone climbs a fence, or when a stadium bathroom needs to be restocked.
'What it means for us ... is taking decisions that may be sitting in a report or a dashboard, and bringing them to life,' Israel said.

He said Robert Kraft and son Jonathan Kraft, the company's top two executives, are pushing the Kraft Group to be more creative and entrepreneurial. NWN's contract will help with that, he said.
'There's that drive to move fast and be adaptive,' Israel added. 'That comes right now from the top. That pushes us forward at lightning speed in terms of innovation.'

The new contract comes as the Kraft Group is building a new football practice facility in Foxborough and is preparing to put up a soccer stadium in Everett. The company is also preparing to host seven World Cup games in Foxborough next year — the equivalent, per Israel, to hosting seven Super Bowl games within a matter of six weeks.
The Kraft Group represents a high-profile customer for NWN, which cleared about $1 billion in sales last year. The Kraft Group, NWN chief executive noted, is one of the largest private companies in the country. 'It's a great fit,' Sullivan said. 'We're incredibly appreciative of the opportunity.'

Colts ownership passes to all three of Jim Irsay's daughters, with Carlie Irsay-Gordon taking over as CEO

The Indianapolis Colts announced their new organization structure Monday following the death of former owner Jim Irsay. All three of Irsay's daughters — Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson — will serve as owners with the franchise. While Irsay-Gordon, Foyt and Jackson will have ownership status with the club, Irsay-Gordon will assume the role of CEO. She will serve as the team's "principal owner," per a team statement. The team added these new roles were "longstanding plans set forth by Jim Irsay." Advertisement Jim Irsay died in May. He was 65. The Colts have been owned by the Irsay family since 1972. Jim's father, Robert, initially purchased the Baltimore Colts that year. After 12 years in Baltimore, Robert Irsay moved the team to Indianapolis. Jim assumed team ownership after Robert died in 1997. Under Jim Irsay's ownership, the Colts reached the postseason in 16 of 28 seasons. The club made it to the Super Bowl twice, winning one championship. Much of the success during Irsay's tenure can be attributed to quarterback Peyton Manning, who was taken No. 1 overall by the team in the 1998 NFL Draft. Manning spent 13 years with the Colts, leading the team to the playoffs 11 times. Following Manning's departure, Irsay drafted Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Luck led the team to the playoffs in four out of six seasons before his shocking retirement in 2019. Advertisement Since Luck's retirement, the franchise has been desperate to find its quarterback of the future. While Philip Rivers did lead the Colts to a playoff appearance in 2020, the team hasn't found its way to the postseason since. Irsay selected Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but the quarterback hasn't progressed as expected and is already dealing with shoulder issues this offseason. Irsay-Gordon could be tasked with finding the Colts' quarterback of the future if Richardson struggles again in 2025. Irsay-Gordon, Foyt and Jackson have all held roles with the team since the 2012 season. With Monday's changes, Foyt will serve as the owner and executive vice president with the club. Jackson will be the owner and chief brand officer and serve as the president of the Indianapolis Colts foundation.

Iowa football hires former NFL exec as revenue sharing arrives

Iowa football hires former NFL exec as revenue sharing arrives Iowa hired former Chiefs GM/Patriots executive Scott Pioli as preparation for revenue sharing and will continue to work with all of Iowa's programs. Pioli has been at Iowa's football practices previously and is close with football coach Kirk Ferentz. — Scott Dochterman (@ScottDochterman) June 9, 2025 The world of college sports has officially changed, and in a hugely seismic way. The era of revenue sharing, where schools can directly pay players, is upon us and will change the way that college sports look moving forward. Schools can be accepting of this or get left behind. The Iowa Hawkeyes are ahead of the curve and are making moves to position themselves for success in this new world. The Hawkeyes have dug into the NFL world of executives with an understanding of operating in this world. To help their athletic programs, Iowa has hired Scott Pioli, the former Kansas City Chiefs general manager and New England Patriots executive, to prepare for revenue sharing, as reported by Scott Dochterman of The Athletic. The move brings Pioli into the fold with Iowa football head coach Kirk Ferentz, with whom he is close. Piolo joins Iowa after most recently being the Atlanta Falcons' assistant general manager from 2014-2019. Scott Pioli brings a mountain of experience in his career, as he has been in the NFL since 1992 in a multitude of roles, from scouting to player personnel to the front office. Before that, Pioli coached in college from 1988 to 1991 with stops at Syracuse and Murray State. A three-time Super Bowl champion in the NFL, Scott Pioli has been named the PWFA Executive of the Year three times (2003, 2007, 2010) and the Sporting News NFL Executive of the Year twice (2003, 2004). Wall Street loves this recent IPO with one analyst calling it the ‘social network trading platform'

Wall Street is extremely bullish on stock trading platform eToro , with analysts estimating the stock could rise between 11% and 24% from here. Israel-based eToro went public on May 15 , with its initial public offering price at $52 per share, above the high end of its proposed range. The stock opened that day at $69.69, or 34% above its IPO, and closed up nearly 29% at $67 per share. Shares surged more than 5% on Monday to hit a fresh 52-week high. The overwhelming positive sentiment from Wall Street has rewarded the company's decision to go public after a lengthy dry spell for IPOs. "We felt that we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of the correction in the markets," CEO Yoni Assia said in an interview with CNBC. Here's what analysts at some of the biggest shops on Wall Street had to say on the IPO. Goldman Sachs initiates coverage at buy rating and 12-month price target of $76 per share Analyst James Yaro's target implies nearly 11% upside from eToro's Friday closing price of $68.70 per share. "We see ETOR as an attractive market share gain story in the fragmented European retail brokerage market, driven by a differentiated offering vs. peers, in terms of: 1) its geographic and product breadth (a pan-European client base that can trade global unlevered and levered equities, currencies, commodities, and crypto); 2) a tech-enabled offering; and 3) CopyTrader, which is both a loss mitigation tool, and a tool to facilitate social trading, which many younger investors want — these combined factors have driven ~5.5pp of share gains since 2019." Canaccord Genuity initiates coverage at buy rating, $78 per share price target Canaccord Genuity's target calls for almost 14% upside going forward. "We view eToro as a clear share gainer in retail trading/investing. We also believe the short to medium term here is ripe with catalysts, including a big push into the US market, and the potential for crypto to move more towards becoming a mainstream asset class." Needham initiates coverage of eToro as a buy, sets price target of $80 per share The investment firm called eToro "the social network trading platform," while its price target is 16% above the stock's Friday closing price. "We believe eToro's strength is in its 'social trading aspect' which is driving higher monetization per funded account. We see an opportunity to grow funded accounts by converting registered users, and through new expansion opportunities in Asia and U.S." Jefferies sets buy rating, $80 per share price target "eToro is well-positioned to benefit from the growing adoption of retail investing globally. With leading retail market share in markets like the EU and UK, combined with a differentiated product offering and distinguished brand, we believe eToro is uniquely positioned to continue to grow its account base organically at +10% y/y." Mizuho initiates coverage at outperform rating and $80 per share price target "With 3.5mn funded accounts across a global footprint of 75 countries, ETOR focuses on disrupting legacy institutions both globally and in the U.S. by providing both investing tools and learning resources. Key medium-term catalysts include: growing retail participation in Europe (~70% of ETOR revenue); Gen Z is beginning to trade earlier in life than prior generations and has an affinity for viral social trading apps like ETOR; a pending, estimated $80tn generational wealth transfer; and opportunity to grow in the U.S. and Asia, where retail trading is popular. ETOR enjoys several key competitive advantages. It has a set of viral features like social trading (use of influences), copy trading (mimics successful investor portfolios), and AI-driven smart portfolios offering retail investors thematic/strategy-based trading." TD Cowen initiates coverage at buy rating, $80 price target "We see ETOR as an attractive play on the global rise of retail and crypto adoption, strong [revenue per user], ad spend [return on investment] + client [margin on client assets] metrics. While low float may make ETOR bumpy, we see favorable catalysts ahead." Cantor Fitzgerald initiates coverage at overweight and price target of $84 per share Analyst Brett Knoblauch's target equates to 22% upside. "We have ETOR trading at 26.5x 2025 P/E, which we believe is a reasonable entry point for a business that we believe can compound earnings at a 15% [compound annual growth rate] over the next two years, with the potential for upside coming from our relatively conservative revenue growth expectations (8.8% CAGR). Combining ETOR's valuation, numerous growth vectors (new markets, greater market share, generational wealth transfer, and new products), we believe risk/reward at current levels to be favorable." Citizens sets market outperform rating and $85 per share price target "The company is scaling its core offerings and exploring new financial services through organic growth and potential M & A. With a compelling valuation and untapped market opportunities, we believe eToro is well-positioned to capture share of the expanding retail investing market." — CNBC's Michael Bloom contributed to this report.
