QCH announces astronomical start of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH
DOHA: The Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has announced, based on precise astronomical calculations, that Wednesday, May 28, will be the astronomical beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH, while Tuesday, May 27, will mark the last day of Dhul-Qi'dah for this year.
According to Eng. Faisal Al-Ansari, Executive Director of Qatar Calendar House the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH will be born on Tuesday, May 27 (the observation day) at 6:03am Doha local time (3:03am UTC).
The crescent will set 39 minutes after sunset in Qatar, with visibility duration increasing further westward.
Astronomical principles dictate that the movement of the moon around Earth determines the start and end of Hijri (Islamic) months.
The movement of Earth around the sun governs the start and end of Gregorian months.

Awqaf minister meets representatives of Hajj campaign for appraisal
QNA Makkah Al Mukarramah Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs and Head of the Qatari Hajj Mission HE Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem met with owners and representatives of Qatari Hajj campaigns to coordinate efforts and exchange views on the requirements of the next phase of Hajj in the holy sites, and to provide the best conditions to the pilgrims from Qatar. The coordination meeting, held at the headquarters of the Qatari Hajj Mission in the Al Naseem area of Makkah, came before the official start of Hajj on Wednesday, Dhu al-Hijjah 8, 1446 AH (June 4, 2025 AD). This will be followed by the Standing at Arafat, the greatest pillar of Hajj, on Thursday, Dhu al-Hijjah 9, and the departure to Muzdalifah after sunset on that day, as part of a precise and comprehensive Hajj delegation plan developed by the mission. During the meeting with the owners of the 17 approved Hajj campaigns, in the presence of the Hajj delegation specialists, the minister reviewed the overall readiness for performing the rituals and ensured the readiness of all campaigns for the Hajj delegation plan to the holy sites. This was in accordance with the comprehensive delegation plan previously developed by the Hajj Mission's Communications and Support Unit in coordination with the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia. The plan aims to ensure the smooth flow of Hajj pilgrims between Makkah and the rest of the holy sites and to enhance comfort and safety, especially with the rising temperatures and crowding at the holy sites. The minister said Qatar is committed to providing all means to ensure that its pilgrims perform Hajj rituals in a safe, secure, and comfortable environment. The Qatari Hajj Mission is implementing an integrated plan that includes the highest levels of healthcare, field organisation, Sharia awareness, and logistical support, in addition to the use of modern technological means to assist pilgrims and meet their needs. These efforts contribute to achieving excellence in the provision of all services, in full cooperation and coordination with Hajj campaign owners and under the direct supervision of the Mission Head and the Advisory Committee, which operates around the clock in all locations to serve the pilgrims from Qatar. The minister called on Hajj campaign owners to maintain effective communication with the Mission and its field units, and to offer constructive ideas and developmental comments that contribute to enhancing the Qatari pilgrim experience year after year. He praised the significant efforts and facilities provided by the authorities in Saudi Arabia to serve pilgrims. For their part, the campaign owners commended the efforts of the Hajj and Umrah Affairs Department, which began with the early registration phase, followed by the electronic screening and follow-up of pilgrims' cases, through travel and arrival procedures to the Holy Land, and finally the organized reception by mission members at the Coordination and Follow-up Unit and the airport at King Abdulaziz Airport and the Hajj Airport in Jeddah, and the supervision of their transfer to their residences in Makkah Al Mukarramah. They also praised the mission's preparations in the Holy Sites, particularly the development of the Arafat Camp according to the highest specifications and standards, and the addition of advanced service facilities that assist pilgrims and facilitate their performance of the Hajj ritual in safe and comfortable conditions, in a religious atmosphere in the most blessed of places and the most blessed of days.

Qatar Charity gears up for global Udhiyah, humanitarian projects
Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Charity (QC) has started preparations to implement Udhiyah projects and a series of humanitarian and development initiatives across 40 countries, including Qatar. This is part of Qatar Charity's Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH (2025) campaign launched under the theme 'The Greatest Days'. QC's Adahi projects, supported by generous donors, plan to distribute meat from around 45,300 sheep and cattle across 40 countries, including Qatar, reaching over 850,000 people in need. The focus will be on crisis-affected countries and regions such as Syria, Palestine, including Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia. Amid Gaza's ongoing humanitarian crisis, QC has reaffirmed its commitment to dignity and care. Sacrificial animals (Adahi) designated for Gaza will be slaughtered on schedule, expertly cut, and securely packaged to preserve freshness. The moment border crossings reopen, the meat will be swiftly delivered to families in need, ensuring they too can share in the blessings of Eid. QC's Udhiyah distribution will take place in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Palestine, Syria, Tanzania, Niger, Sri Lanka, Senegal, Ethiopia, Indonesia, India, Lebanon, South Africa, Malaysia, Yemen, Chad, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Turkey, Tunisia, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Kenya, Djibouti, Mauritania, Togo, Benin, and Burundi. In Qatar, QC's Adahi project will distribute sacrificial meat from 4,000 sheep to around 30,000 individuals, spreading the joy of Eid. Beyond Udhiyah, the 'Greatest Days' campaign invites contributions to broader relief efforts, including food baskets with essential supplies, which are expected to be distributed in Somalia, Chad, Kenya, Pakistan, Sudan, Ivory Coast, and Yemen, in addition to delivering aid to Rohingya and Sudanese refugees. The 'Greatest Days' campaign also seeks support for development projects, including water and economic empowerment projects, which will benefit needy families in Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Kosovo, Bangladesh, Gambia, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Syria, Senegal, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Albania, Tunisia, Jordan, Morocco, Ghana, Kenya, and Pakistan. Additionally, the campaign will provide humanitarian aid and implement other vital projects. QC has invited Qatari citizens and residents to seize the blessings of Dhul-Hijjah's first ten days by supporting its charitable projects, emphasizing the profound spiritual reward of good deeds during this sacred time.

First day of Eid Al Adha to start on 6 June 2025
According to a report by Al Sharq Newspaper, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has announced that Wednesday, 28 May 2025, is the first day of Dhul Hijjah for this year 1446 AH. Accordingly, Friday, 6 June 2025, corresponding to the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, 1446 AH, will be the first day of Eid al Adha.
