The new season of the league will begin in August 2025, and this marks a major step forward for Bangladesh in gaining international exposure in the sport, the Daily Star reported.
The Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation finalised and submitted the list of 10 players ahead of the May 20 deadline. This is the highest number of Bangladeshi players ever submitted for consideration in the PKL auction, according to the federation.
The selected players are: Mizanur Rahman, Liton Ali, Arif Rabbani, Russell Hasan, Rajib Ahmed, Roman Hossain, Dipayon Goldar, Monirul Chowdhury, Al Amin, and Shah Mohammad Shahan. Among these, Mizanur, Liton, and Arif are expected to attract the most interest from franchises
due to their recent strong performances in domestic and international competitions.
Bangladesh were second only to Iran in terms of the number of players demanded for the PKL auction, ahead of countries such as Nepal, Kenya, and Thailand.
The federation's general secretary, SM Newaz Shohag, noted that overcoming challenges related to releasing players from services teams was crucial to making this progress.
Earlier this year, six Bangladeshi players participated in the Nepal Franchise Kabaddi League.
