Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Virtually Inaugurates Reconstructed Malan Bridge in Kotdwar
New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually attended the inauguration program of the reconstructed 'Malan Bridge' over the Malan River in Kotdwar.
He said, 'I remember very well that when a very terrible disaster struck there, the bridge was completely damaged. I especially congratulate all the engineers, labourers and administrative officers who have worked day and night to complete this bridge. This bridge will not only benefit the people of the area but will also help in the development of the area'
Earlier, following the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed his Chief Secretary to prepare a clear and practical strategy at the state level for the effective implementation of the points discussed during the meeting.
According to a statement from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office, Dhami, after the meeting on Saturday, emphasised the importance of realising Modi's vision of a 'Developed India @ 2047', and for this, the state government needs to effectively implement the schemes and policies at the grassroots level by coordinating with the central government.
He instructed the Chief Secretary to prepare a time-bound action plan in coordination with concerned departments and ensure continuous monitoring of its progress.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need for transparency, accountability, and public participation in the implementation process.'The Chief Minister also said that transparency and accountability should be fixed at every level while ensuring public participation.
He said that the state government is fully participating in the resolve to make India a self-reliant and developed nation under the leadership of the Prime Minister,' the statement from CMO read.
Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors representing 24 states and seven Union Territories attended the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at Bharat Mandapam on Saturday. This year's theme was Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047. The meeting commenced with a minute of silence in remembrance of the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. (ANI).

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that he will be attending the G7 Summit later this month in Canada following a phone call from newly elected PM Mark Carney , signalling an improvement in bilateral ties following the changing of the guard in the North American country. The summit will be held in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15-17. It will be Modi's maiden engagement abroad since Operation Sindoor, presenting him with an opportunity to highlight the menace of cross-border terrorism at a global forum. In a post on X, Modi wrote, "Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada. Congratulated him on his recent election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month." He added India and Canada, as "vibrant democracies bound by deep people-to-people ties", would work together "with renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests". The visit is expected to mark the beginning of improvement in ties, which were hit by former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "pro-Khalistan policies", said experts. During the summit, Modi could meet other G7 leaders - from the US, UK, France, Italy, Japan and Germany - including US President Donald Trump. This year's summit is especially significant as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the G7. ET had reported in April that India was planning to restore ties with Canada at the level of high commissioner months after withdrawing its envoy over the " Khalistan extremism " issue, with seasoned Indian diplomat Dinesh Patnaik being considered for the post. Patnaik, currently India's envoy to Spain may be appointed as India's next envoy to Ottawa, according to people in the know.

Mirwaiz urges PM Modi to bridge ‘dil ki doori' by releasing Kashmiri prisoners, Mufti echoes him
SRINAGAR: Bridging the 'dil ki doori' (distance between hearts) between Delhi and Srinagar by freeing Kashmiri prisoners is as crucial to establishing a connection as opening the Valley's first rail link with the rest of the country, J&K's chief cleric and separatist Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said Friday after PM Narendra Modi flagged off the inaugural Vande Bharat Express train from Katra station. 'If the PM truly seeks to close the gap, as he often mentions in his speeches, then humanitarian steps are the real way forward. Train links are welcome, but it is the human links that matter and endure,' Mirwaiz told an Eid-ul-Adha congregation at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar. He said the festival doesn't bring any joy to thousands of families in J&K whose sons, husbands, fathers and brothers had been incarcerated for years, many allegedly without a trial, in jails within and outside J&K. 'With each passing day, more of our youth are detained,' he said. 'All such prisoners, including politicians, remain in the prayers and thoughts of the people of Kashmir.' PDP chief and ex-CM Mehbooba Mufti said now that J&K's long-awaited rail link had become a reality, it was time for PM Modi to 'show statesmanship and compassion, especially towards those languishing in jails across India without serious charges'. Mehbooba urged him to consider releasing Kashmiri youth 'jailed on mere suspicion' after the April 22 terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam. 'The collective condemnation of the incident by people across the political spectrum reflects our shared rejection of violence…Let this Eid be a moment of healing and reconciliation,' she said.

Stalin says Ministry of Home Affairs' remarks on delimitation are ‘vague'
Seeing a 'sinister design' by the Narendra Modi-led government in Census 2027 and the subsequent delimitation, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday said the remarks of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs over the proposed delimitation exercise were 'vague' and further called for a 'clear Parliamentary commitment and a suitable Constitutional amendment.' Mr. Stalin also endorsed the edit published in The Hindu — 'Injustice in the delay - The announcement of the Census is welcome, but the delay is unjust'. On Thursday, a social media post of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said Union Minister Amit Shah had clarified on many occasions that in the delimitation exercise, concerns of southern States would be taken care of and discussed with all concerned at an appropriate time. 'The MHA claims that the concerns of affected States will be addressed. But these are vague remarks. What is needed is a clear Parliamentary commitment and a suitable Constitutional amendment,' Mr. Stalin said in a social media post. Recalling the abrogation of Article 370, Mr. Stalin said: 'The Union government spoke of restoring Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Elections were held. Assurances were given in the Supreme Court. Yet, Jammu and Kashmir remains a Union territory. This is the track record of the BJP we are dealing with.' If the Union government proceeded with delimitation based on the Census 2027, the democratic power of peninsular India would be 'reduced to irrelevance,' Mr. Stalin contended. Taking a swipe at his party's rival, AIADMK, over their electoral alliance with the BJP, Mr. Stalin, also the DMK president, said: 'Even if betrayers like the ADMK [AIADMK] choose to kneel before the BJP for their political survival, the people of Tamil Nadu, led by the DMK, will never allow our State to be punished for its progress. Tamil Nadu will fight! Tamil Nadu will win!' Claiming that the delay in the Census was 'no accident', Mr. Stalin further said that the delimitation plan was 'no coincidence' and the danger that he warned of was 'at our doorstep.' There was a 'sinister design' in how the BJP-led Union government was implementing the national Census and the subsequent delimitation, Mr. Stalin said: 'Developed States, especially in the non-Hindi speaking south, which followed population control norms, will now be punished. Meanwhile, States that disregarded population control for decades are set to gain more seats in Parliament. This unfair shift skews the federal balance and rewards irresponsibility.' He also recalled his warning about this 'design' and referred to the contention of senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram on 'how this sleight of hand is unfolding.' Mr. Stalin emphasised: 'The time has come not only to be vigilant but also to craft counter-strategies to safeguard the South's voice.' The Census 2027 would form the basis for the next delimitation, replacing the 1971 data, he said, and further asserted that this gave the Union BJP-led government the means to 'restructure Parliamentary representation to its advantage, at the cost of the southern States.'
