Ex-Terengganu Anulae treasurer fined RM10,000 for fake documents
Jafri Wahab, 59, pleaded guilty to two charges of using forged documents dating back five years.
The charges were read before Judge Mohd Azhar Othman, leading to the sentencing.
Jafri, a former assistant environmental health officer at the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT), faced a fine of RM5,000 or three months' jail per charge.
He was accused of using fake bank statements belonging to the Terengganu Anulae branch for 2019 to 2020 as genuine on June 28, 2020.
The charges fall under Section 471 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 465 with a maximum two-year jail term, a fine, or both.
Additionally, Jafri faced 11 charges under Section 403 for misappropriating RM29,200 from the Anulae welfare fund between January and July 2020.
All 11 charges were taken into consideration under Section 171A of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The prosecution was led by MACC deputy public prosecutors Rabiatul Addawiah Mohd Noorlee and Tengku Nurul Haziqah Tuan Yacob, along with officer Nur Raihan Mohd Yusof.

Technician charged with 52 counts of incest, sexual assault and filming daughter nude
MELAKA: A technician was charged at the Sessions Court here today with 52 counts of incest, physical sexual assault, and filming his daughter nude. The 41-year-old man pleaded not guilty to all the charges after they were read out to him before Judge Haderiah Siri. He was charged with 17 counts of incest and 34 counts of physical sexual assault against his daughter, who is now 18. He also faces one count of filming his daughter nude. For the 17 counts of incest, the man was charged under Section 376B of the Penal Code. For the 34 charges of physical sexual assault, he was charged under Sections 14(a) and 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. Additionally, he was charged under Section 7 of the same Act for creating child pornography by filming his biological daughter nude. All the offences were allegedly committed at a house here between May 12 and Aug 2. Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin proposed bail of RM20,000 for each charge. In his plea, the man claimed he was unable to pay the amount because his savings had been taken by his wife. The court granted the accused bail of RM90,000 for all charges, subject to additional conditions. These conditions include refraining from interfering with the victim and prosecution witnesses, reporting to a police station once every two weeks, and surrendering his passport to the court. The court also set Sept 18 for mention.

Singaporean company director charged with RM155,000 investment fraud
JOHOR BARU: A Singapore permanent resident pleaded not guilty in the sessions court here today to four counts of cheating involving an RM155,000 investment scheme 11 years ago. Singapore-based company director Chong Kok Ming, 54, entered his plea before Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail after the charges were read. He was accused of using another company operating in the country to deceive the victims. Chong allegedly conspired with another Singaporean, who is still at large, to deceive four foreign investors — Lim Swee Chong, Lim Swee Joo, Ho Sang Bin and Puah Kot Choon — into believing they would be registered as shareholders of a Malaysian company and receive annual dividends, knowing the claims to be false. The victims, including Singaporeans, were allegedly induced to transfer sums ranging from RM6,250 to RM71,250 into the company's account. The offence was allegedly committed at a bank branch in Jalan Cengal, Taman Makmur, Batu Pahat, on Oct 15, 2014. Chong was charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34, which carries a jail term of up to five years, a fine, or both, upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Chan Lee Lee from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission appeared for the prosecution, while Chong was represented by lawyer K. Veeranesh. The court granted him bail of RM20,000 and fixed Sept 17 for mention.

Woman fined RM1,000 for hitting man with broom after TikTok insult
PETALING JAYA: A housewife was fined RM1,000 by the magistrates' court today for assaulting a man with a broom after he insulted her during a live TikTok stream last month. Magistrate Shahril Anuar Ahmad Mustapha imposed the fine on K. Mahaletchimy, 50, after she pleaded guilty to the charge. Shahril ordered her to serve a month in jail if she fails to pay the fine. The visibly saddened Mahaletchimy entered her guilty plea immediately after the charge was read out by a court interpreter. "I understand. I plead guilty," she said. She had arrived earlier at the courtroom accompanied by several family members, who sat in the public gallery during proceedings. According to the charge, Mahaletchimy voluntarily caused hurt to the 24-year-old victim at about 7.30pm at the security guard post of a primary school in Puchong on July 5. The offence, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum one-year jail term, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction. According to the facts of the case, Mahaletchimy was upset that the victim had made disparaging remarks about her during the stream. She confronted him and struck his left arm with a broom. When the victim tried to flee, she chased after him and hit him again with the broom. She was arrested in Kinrara on July 30 by investigators from the Serdang district police headquarters. Investigations revealed she had assaulted the victim with a broom and the act was caught on closed-circuit television camera footage. National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Muhd Muqri Mohd Khairi appealed for leniency, citing Mahaletchimy's early guilty plea, which saved the court's time, and the fact that she is a first offender. "She was remanded for two days for investigations and has shown remorse. "She was released and voluntarily came to court today to face the charge. "I ask for a minimal fine on her," he said. Deputy public prosecutor Lim Leong Hui asked the court to impose a proportionate sentence to serve as a deterrent. After proceedings, Mahaletchimy said she had lost her patience and struck the victim after he made disparaging remarks about her. "It involves my dignity, and what he said cannot be tolerated," she said.
