Henry Golding was inspired by TV series Nine Perfect Strangers to explore wellness retreats
The 38-year-old actor would avoid the structured programs that aim to improve a person's mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing if they contained the "shenanigans" the characters got up to in the Hulu thriller that sees nine guests meet up at a wellness retreat, set up by Masha (Nicole Kidman) in the Austrian Alps - with her hiding secrets.
But the idea of getting respite in his "adult life" appealed to Henry because he was told to not "bother anybody with your troubles" growing up.
The 'Another Simple Favor' star - whose alter ego on the show Peter looks to gain approval and decide what he wants in his life - explained to radio presenter Kent 'Smallzy' Small, 41, on the 'Smallzy's Surgery' podcast: "I mean, if a wellness retreat, sort of, included some of the shenanigans that these characters, sort of, get up to, I think I would stay away too.
"But, you know, we've been, sort of, talking about the discussion of therapy and how advanced it's become and how part of the zeitgeist it is.
"And it's normal now to, sort of, open up. And back, way back, growing up, I was, kind of, taught to be like, you know, don't bother anybody with your troubles.
"It's very down, kept it all paddled up. And so this idea of going to a retreat later in my, sort of, adult life seems a little bit more, kind of - I'm curious about it now.
"So after the show, I think I'll be looking into - he's [Mark Strong] been to a couple of things.
"So, I'm going to look into it."
Henry's on-screen dad is Mark Strong, 61, who plays a ruthless billionaire intelligence expert David, and Mark loved his experience of going to a wellness retreat that focused on "relaxation" and a "little bit of medical intervention" to determine how healthy the guests were.
'The King's Man' star said: "I went to one, which was relaxation, coupled with a little bit of medical intervention in order to see how healthy you were.
And you ate well, slept well, and had these, sort of, timetable every day of things that you did, like hydrotherapy and shiatsu, and all of this.
"There was no mental health examination involved in that. It was really medical and physical."

Aussie movie star Nicole Kidman has lodged an application for residency in Portugal, multiple news outlets in the European country have claimed. The Dead Calm star and her country star husband own an impressive globe-spanning property portfolio spanning Sydney, Los Angeles and Nashville. In Sydney, the couple own six combined apartments overlooking Sydney Harbour in Milson's Point. The Kidman-Urban clan also own a breathtaking 45-acre rural property called Bunya Hill in the Southern Highlands, complete with cattle and alpacas. Earlier this year, Kidman told the Hollywood Reporter she planned to spend 2025 taking a break after shooting multiple film and TV projects simultaneously. "I was much more out there last year; this year I have Holland, I have Nine Perfect Strangers, and then I'm off for the rest of year. So, oh well!' she said. In the past year, Kidman has starred in films A Family Affair, Babygirl, Spellbound and Holland and TV projects like The Perfect Couple, Lioness and Nine Perfect Strangers. The movie star's pledge to take time off appeared to be short-lived and Kidman is currently back on set with Sandra Bullock to film a sequel of the cult classic Practical Magic.

Lindsay Lohan eyes more 'dramatic' roles
Lindsay Lohan hopes to play more "dramatic" roles after Freakier Friday. The 39-year-old actress returns in the body-swap comedy sequel as Anna Coleman and has declared that she has her eye on some "serious" parts in the future. Lindsay told The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Angeles premiere of Freakier Friday on Tuesday (22.07.25): "(I'm) doing a TV show with Hulu that I'm really excited about and I'd like to take on some more serious, dramatic roles. "And I love doing romantic comedy because that's where my home is and I feel like where my fans want to see me, but I'd like to take on some things that are different; maybe find something that's an action-packed film. Just really show people a different side of me." Lindsay returns alongside co-star Jamie Lee Curtis for the sequel and has promised that it is "bigger" than the original 2003 film Freaky Friday. She explained: "We have more stories to tell. It's a four-way swap and there's more music and there's a lot more physical comedy than the first one, which I love. Any moment that I can pull a Lucille Ball, I'm down for it." Lindsay was just 15 when production started on the original movie and explained that she has always remained close with Jamie as the Halloween star was a "mother figure" to her. The Mean Girls star said: "She was there for me at a time of my life when my mom was busy with my siblings, and she was kind of like another mother figure to me out here in LA. That's kept us pretty tight-knit over time, and we've always just been in contact." Curtis explained that she wanted Lohan to feel "love" during the making of the movie. The 66-year-old star recalled: "I said to her from day one, 'I want nothing from you except your own peace and serenity.' And I am safe, I'm a home base; I don't want anything, I'm not going to ask you to come to anything. "I don't want her to feel transactional with me, I want her to feel love." Lindsay recently expressed her desire to be "fully involved" in the making of her films after she served as an executive producer on her recent Netflix projects. The Parent Trap star said: "It really came from the movies I was doing with Netflix. "I was like, 'I know this.' When I'm reading the script, I'm already visualising where it's going to be, what the character's wearing. "(That journey) was a big part of what the new script was going to be. I like to be fully involved in the projects I do now, from the ground up. James Gunn admits Superman confusion was 'unfair' to Henry Cavill
James Gunn has admitted the confusion around Henry Cavill's return to Superman was "really unfair". The 42-year-old actor had announced he was set to reprise the role, only to reveal two months later that he wouldn't be part of the new DC Studios co-head's vision for the franchise, and now James has explained he and Peter Safran were taken aback when his return was announced. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, James said: 'We were dealing with trying to figure out if we could take the job at DC Studios, and we're talking to David Zaslav and all the legal people there, and figuring out what our deals would be. 'And the day our deal closed, all of a sudden they were announcing that Henry was back. 'I'm like, what is going on? Like, we know what the plan is, the plan was to come in and do Superman. 'That was really unfortunate, I'm like, this poor guy." The new DC bosses were impressed with how Henry handled the news. James continued: "And so Peterand I [knew] the right thing to do is to sit down with [Cavill] and talk to him. 'And we sat down, we talked to him, he was an absolute gentleman, a great guy about it. He said, 'The only thing I ask is that I'm able to reveal it myself as opposed to it coming from you guys.' "It was really unfair to him and was a total bummer." James explained there were external influences who 'wanted to take on what they wanted to do at DC and were trying to force their way and it just was never a part of the equation.' The filmmaker - who cast David Corenswet in the title role of his Superman movie - was asked if it would be "too confusing" to recast Henry in a different DC Universe role, and he admitted he is keen to work with the Witcher star. He said: 'No, as another character? Absolutely not. I talked to him about it on that day. I would love to put Henry in something.'
