But persevere on your journey a little longer and you will be rewarded with some of the Balearics' most unspoiled beaches.

Formentera, Ibiza's chilled-out little sister, has water so clear and turquoise, you would be forgiven for thinking you had landed in the Maldives.
After touching down at Ibiza Airport, it's just a quick coach ride to the port, where the adventure begins.
Following a scenic 30-minute ferry crossing, Tui is waiting with an air-conditioned minibus for the final leg.
The destination? The Insotel Hotel Formentera Playa, which is perched on one of the island's dreamiest stretches of sand, Platja de Migjorn.
We booked a superior studio room, and it turns out to be a great choice. Comfy and spotless, our room even has a little kitchen nook with a decent-sized fridge that's perfect for keeping our snacks and drinks cool.
But the real star is that stunning sea view waiting to greet you each morning while you sip coffee on the balcony. Bliss.
Days can be split between lazing by one of the two pools or venturing along the beach on the wooden walkways to golden sand.
An early morning flight means that, after some speedy unpacking, we're lucky enough to steal a whole afternoon on the beach.
Within minutes, we're running like giddy kids straight into the crystal-clear water.
It doesn't take long to slip into the laid-back beach vibe, with mellow Ibizan bossa nova tunes floating through the air like a warm breeze.
Best beaches in the world revealed
At the hotel, bicycles are yours for the taking, free of charge, and with the island stretching only 12 miles from end to end, it's a great way to get around.
Every beach and landmark is within easy reach, the roads are wide and safe, and drivers are courteous of tourists and locals alike.
My husband, however, feels the need for something a touch more continental.
So we swap pedals for petrol and hire a scooter to get around for the week.
No trip to Formentera would be complete without visiting Ses Illetes beach
Soon we're zipping about in style, the nostalgic smell and happy hum of the two-stroke engine a defining summer soundtrack of countless European holidays past.
Four miles up the coast, or 15 minutes by scooter, Cala Saona is one of Formentera's must-visit beaches.
Nicknamed 'the jewel of the west coast of Formentera', it's tucked away in a beautiful cove, with shallow, inviting waters.
Flanked by cliffs, it's also a sheltered spot, shielded from the stronger winds that often impact southern shorelines.

Named after the little islands ('illetes') nearby, this spectacular spot has earned a reputation for being the 'Maldives of the Med' — and it's easy to see why. Located on the island's northernmost tip, this narrow strip of rock is fringed by powdery-white sand and turquoise sea.
At its very end, you'll be rewarded with views of S'Espalmador, an islet within Formentera's Ses Salines Nature Park, part of a Unesco World Heritage site.
This islet made headlines last year when Katy Perry filmed her Lifetimes music video there without permission from the Spanish authorities.
Refreshingly untouched
Sadly, no celebs are spotted this time, although Kate Moss has recently been galavanting on the beaches of Formentera, clutching a Birkin bag, no less.
And, judging by the influx of superyachts moored in the bay during our visit, the stars must be close.
Last year, my plan to reach the very tip of the island failed — so naturally, it's at the top of this year's must-do list.
Armed with sandwiches and more water than seemed reasonable for the two-mile round trip, we set off.
The path lead us over low rock formations and along beaches that grow ever narrower.

Finally, we reached the end of the land, where the two tides meet.
The sandbar is shallow and warm, perfect for wading far out while still being only knee-deep. That's one bucket-list item officially ticked.
Back at the hotel, there is a range of activities to keep guests happy throughout the day, including yoga, massage, water polo and an energetic kids' club.
Formentera is often hailed as the last truly authentic Balearic island
Evenings offer diverse entertainment options, with buffet-style dinners that have enough variety to satisfy all tastebuds.
Meanwhile, the hotel's South Beach bar provides a casual atmosphere, with day beds and sunken seats perfect for relaxing.
Our evenings are happily spent here — cocktails and chilled-out music making it the perfect end to another sun-soaked day.
With a week in Formentera feeling like two, it's easy to see why people come back here year on year.
No doubt we'll be returning for another run of hippie adventure.
Formentera is often hailed as the last truly authentic Balearic island — a little slice of paradise where time slows down, flip-flops are practically a dress code and the charm feels refreshingly untouched.
Just don't tell the Ibiza crowd.

Celtic globetrotters used to brutal journeys even if first world problems get lost in the shuffle
Alistair Johnston isn't the only member of Brendan Rodgers' squad who regularly racks up the air miles in between matches It's the longest journey possible in European football to a city that's a hop and a skip away from China. But Alistair Johnston insists the mammoth trek to the far end of Kazakhstan will be a walk in the park for Celtic' s regular globetrotters. The Hoops are determined to go far in the Champions League but this wasn't quite what they had in mind. Brendan Rodgers men will face FC Kairat in Glasgow on Wednesday night for the first leg of their £40m play-off showdown. And they'll need to finish the job the following week more than 3,500 miles from home – before returning to take on Rangers at Ibrox. If the Celts went that far in the other direction they'd end up in Chicago. Johnston knows what's up ahead and he admits it's going to be BRUTAL. But there are plenty of Hoops stars who know what it takes to do the business on the pitch after going long haul. The defender – who will be 7000 miles from his Vancouver home – said: 'We've quite a few guys that do it pretty regularly. Obviously, the Japanese boys, myself, (USA aces) Auston Trusty and Cameron Carter-Vickers. 'It's not fun, I'll tell you that much. It's pretty brutal, it'll be a bit of an eye opener to the European boys who are used to a little hour or two's flight away. 'When you're crossing an ocean or going through five to eight different time zones, it really adds up and makes it difficult. 'I'm curious exactly what the plan's going to be with the travel, but ideally as you try and get there a little bit earlier, acclimate and just get ready to go. But then at the same time right after that you're coming back and it's going to be a really difficult test away at Ibrox. 'So, there's things like that where you need to be able to plan and rely on the squad. 'It's a big couple weeks here for us. But all of us international boys who are used to those long distance travels obviously will try and help out with some tips for the other guys. 'The longest I've travelled? Japan was a brutal one. I don't think people understand how far that is. 'It's like an 8-hour flight from here to Dubai then another 8 hour flight from Dubai to Japan. 'With Canada, anything on the West Coast is really difficult for us. We've had some travel days that have probably added up to about 24 hours and you come back a little groggy, then you're right back into the facility the next day to get training. 'You get used to just keeping the wheels going and getting back on the horse. 'Sometimes you can have a match on a Tuesday night for example, you can't fly out until the Wednesday, you land whatever time it is Thursday. And often I've come in on the Friday morning, trained then got on a bus up to Ross County and played Saturday morning. 'It's stuff like that that I think gets lost a little bit in the shuffle. But at the same time, we get paid pretty well to deal with that stuff. 'And it's definitely a first world issue so it's not something we complain about too much.' Johnston's not going to lose any sleep over the jaunt – it's all about the journey to the Champions League. And he's convinced Celtic are in top shape going into the first leg after an unbeaten start to the domestic season and a sizzling show against Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup win on Friday. Johnston – who notched a stunning second goal in the 4-1 stroll – said: 'I think that that was exactly what we needed. Obviously, it was the first time playing under the lights at Celtic Park, It's a bit of a different atmosphere, a bit of a different feel with a night game. "I think it reminded everyone that this is what it's going to feel like. It prepared us well for what's to come. 'The pressure is going to come with it, it's a massive two-legged tie. We know everything is in the balance but we're excited for it and there's nothing more you could ask for than other guys getting a good performance, getting some more minutes into some of guys' legs. 'From guys who have played big minutes already so far this year and guys that came in, everyone's in a pretty positive note with their performances. We're in a really good place right now.' Johnston has been hooked on the Champions League since he landed at Parkhead and he reckons the Hoops new boys are in for a treat. He said: 'For the new guys that have come to the squad, there's that hunger. They're not really understanding what it is, they've heard of it but they haven't felt it. 'It's a great moment whenever you get to play at Celtic Park under the lights on a Champions League night. So that's something that is now our task over these next week and a half – to go out and make sure we get guaranteed a whole group stage of it.'

I was so stressed after my dream £6k honeymoon cruise was cancelled my face COLLAPSED & was left PARALYSED
Gail was told the cruise was being cancelled as she prepared to board FACE IT I was so stressed after my dream £6k honeymoon cruise was cancelled my face COLLAPSED & was left PARALYSED Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A NEWLY-WED'S face collapsed from stress after her dream honeymoon was cancelled at the last minute. Gail Morgan, 50, suffered a Bell's Palsy attack, paralysing the muscles down one side of her face after the £6,000 cruise was postponed just prior to boarding - and then axed completely. They say, subsequently, their treatment by operator Celebrity Cruises has been "disgusting" - and they've only received a third of the value back as vouchers. Gail told The Sun: 'I was inconsolable. I broke down in tears. 'The heartbreak of losing our honeymoon and my 50th birthday trip, a holiday we had looked forward to for years, was overwhelming. 'And still, not a single word of communication from Celebrity Cruises. 'I recently completed my masters in social care, and this was also meant to celebrate my achievement. 'But the very next day, my facial muscles on the right side of my face stiffened up. 'Since then, my face has been stiff. I'm still going through it.' Upon return to the UK, a doctor's assessment confirmed that the 'emotional trauma and psychological stress' were 'direct contributing factors to the onset of Bell's Palsy'. The cruise was due to depart from Port Miami on July 20. Inside Love Island winners Kai and Sanam's lavish honeymoon in Bali Initially, the cruise was delayed by a day, before it was cancelled due to a 'technical issue' affecting the liner's speed. Morgan added: 'We're working class people from a small village in Wales. 'It took us three years to save for this, skipping out on holidays and life's little luxuries. 'This was meant to be a milestone. 'Celebrity Cruises didn't even inform us of the initial delay and then the outright cancellation. 'We were informed by strangers who overheard our conversations. 'When we finally knew that it was cancelled, we couldn't even make emergency calls and had to borrow people's phones because we had British numbers.' Morgan and Davies were issued with a credit voucher each, both totalling £2,619. However, Morgan told The Sun: 'This is not good enough. 'First of all, you can't use the vouchers together, you can only use one voucher per cruise. 'You can't use the vouchers on special offers either, forcing people like us, who are working class, to pay for more expensive cruises. 'On top of that, they said they can't reimburse us for other charges incurred, like the taxi fee to get to the hotel. 'We didn't ask for any of this, and the way they have treated us has been disgusting.' A spokesperson for Celebrity Cruises said: "Celebrity Cruises is in contact with the guest and their travel agent directly on this matter."

Celtic fans demand ‘where can I get one?' as South American club release Hoops-inspired kit in homage to Parkhead side
A SOUTH American club have unveiled their new kit inspired by Celtic, with Hoops fans liking what they see. The jersey unveiled yesterday by Argentinian side Club Atletico Sarmiento is a double call-back to the Hoops. 3 Club Atletico Sarmiento have released a kit inspired by Celtic Credit: Club Atletico Sarmiento / X 3 The Hoops are in call-back to the Lisbon Lions Credit: Club Atletico Sarmiento / X 3 The announcement video shows a bagpiper draped in the colours Credit: Club Atletico Sarmiento / X The top is inspired by their own kit from 1968, which in turn was inspired by the European Cup winners of the previous year - the famous Lisbon Lions. Sharing the latest bit of gear, Sarmiento said in a social media post: "A t-shirt is more than fabric, it connects stories. "In 1968, Sarmiento used a design inspired by Celtic, the European champions. A Scottish club with an Irish soul. "Today, we relaunch that t-shirt to celebrate the union and the Irish legacy in Junín." The launch video shows a man in the Hoops wielding bagpipes, while a voiceover says: "More than a century ago, the Irish community brought work, customs, and a colour that will stay with us forever. "In 1968, Sarmiento decided to wear the green and white jersey like Celtic, European Champions. A Scottish club with an Irish soul. "That shirt became history. Today we wear it again. "A tribute to the Irish community, to our city, to its roots, which are also part of our history." Also shown is a captain's armband in tricolours emblazoned with a shamrock. And some fans of a green and white persuasion are enamoured by this top, wondering how they can get their hands on one. Celtic linked with ANOTHER winger and is Balikwisha a DONE DEAL One wrote 'that's class', while another said it's 'better than what we have and a nice armband'. A fan commented 'I'd buy one of these' while others asked where to do so. But it seems that may not be an easy task, as the club has confirmed an initially limited sale. Sarmiento said: "A beauty. The first units of the new model will be on sale exclusively for members at our stand at the #ExpoJunín. Limited units. "The Sarmiento Athletic Club thanks everyone who made this production possible." One keen Hoops supporter replied in Spanish asking if it would be available for online purchase and delivery to Scotland, but the answer isn't yet known.
