But speaking in a video released by the BCCI, Pant offered a powerful message to his teammates.
"Just a gesture from my side. Whatever it takes to make our team win or put the team forward, instead of thinking about personal goals," Pant said, referring to his decision to return and bat with a fracture on his foot during the third Test.

Pant had taken a painful blow to his right leg off a Chris Woakes delivery and had to be taken off the field in a mobile ambulance.
Despite swelling and what was later confirmed to be a fracture, he returned to bat the next day, scoring a fighting half-century and receiving a standing ovation from the crowd at Old Trafford.
After the fourth Test draw, he was seen throwing his gloves into the stands and embracing skipper Shubman Gill in a heartwarming moment.

Pant's courage and commitment earned high praise in the dressing room as well. Head coach
, not known for singling out players, made an exception.
"You've not only inspired this dressing room, but you've inspired the next generation… the country will always be proud of you," Gambhir said, addressing Pant in a video shared by the BCCI.

Furthermore, Washington Sundar, who himself put on a show with Ravindra Jadeja as he scored an unbeaten 101, singled out Pant for his brave act. Arguing that it would have been difficult for him to just walk around with the state he was in, to come out and bat for his side made it much more commendable. Sundar called him the "son of our country."
As India prepare for the series-deciding fifth Test at The Oval starting July 31, spirits will be high and stakes greater than ever.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: Sunil Gavaskar says Shubman Gill should've grilled Ben Stokes - 'Why didn't you declare earlier?'
Captains Shubman Gill of India and Ben Stokes of England (Photo by) A draw that felt every bit like a win. India's sensational fightback in Manchester, led by KL Rahul and Shubman Gill 's patience and topped off by Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar 's stubborn resistance, helped them escape with a remarkable draw in the 4th Test. Though trailing 0-2, India have kept the series alive and now have a shot at levelling it 2-2 with a win at The Oval in three days' time. England dominated much of the match. After bundling India out for 358, they posted a mammoth 669, thanks to hundreds from Joe Root and Ben Stokes , building a massive 311-run lead. Rishabh Pant Reveals Plastered Leg, Says: 'Can't Wait To Be...'
Rishabh Pant assured fans he's giving 100% to return after a foot fracture ruled him out of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Dhruv Jurel will replace him. Rishabh Pant has opened up on his foot fracture and assured his fans that he's giving his 100 percent to be back playing for India, having been ruled out of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Pant was hit on the foot while batting on the first day of the fourth Test. He struggled to put pressure on it as it swelled up and started bleeding, before he had to be helped out of the ground and taken to the hospital. Pant was taken to the hospital, where it was revealed that he had sustained a metatarsal fracture. He has reportedly been advised six weeks of rest and as head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI confirmed after the match was drawn on Sunday (July 27), won't take any part in the final game at The Oval. 'Appreciate all the love and good wishes coming my way," Pant said in a post on Instagram. 'It's been a real source of strength. I will begin rehab once my fracture heals and I am slowly settling into the process. Staying patient, following the routines, and giving it my 100%. Playing for the country has always been the proudest moment of my life. Can't wait to be back doing what I love," he added. The post had pictures of him sitting on a bench in England, alongside some of his colorful plaster. Pant still came to bat on the second day of the Test and managed to score 16 runs for the team. Gambhir was effusive in his praise for the wicketkeeper batter, saying the team should take inspiration from him. 'The character and foundation of this team will be built on something what Rishabh did for the team and for the country as well. Any amount of praise is not enough for him, especially batting with a broken foot," Gambhir told reporters on Sunday. Not many people have done that in the past. And he (Pant) put his hands up. And that is that is why I say that any amount of praise…I can sit here and talk about this for hours and hours. I think the generations will talk about this and generations ahead should talk about it that there is someone who batted with a broken foot," he said. Who'll replace Rishabh Pant in India's 11? India have called up Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter and prolific run-scorer N Jagadeesan to the squad. However, for the fifth Test, Dhruv Jurel is set to take Pant's place in the 11. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
