Hakim Danish returns refreshed for Sachsenring challenge
'Last weekend, I had just completed my JuniorGP race and I'm staying positive for this week. It's my first time racing at the Sachsenring Circuit, but I've prepared by studying videos and watching past races here. I hope to give my best and I appreciate your support and prayers as I take on this new circuit,' said Danish.
Round 5 of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup takes place this weekend at Sachsenring, Germany. This short but technical track is famously known as The Sachsenring Rollercoaster due to its unique, undulating layout.
Stretching 3.67 kilometres, the circuit features 3 right-hand corners and 10 left-handers, with the final uphill turn expected to provide an intense challenge and close racing this weekend.
Danish remains at the top of the overall standings with 148 points, holding a 32-point lead over second-placed rider Brian Uriarte of Spain.
SIC Racing Team Manager, Zulfahmi Khairuddin, is also on-site at Sachsenring to oversee all preparations, setup, and strategy to ensure a smooth race week.

Hakim Danish keeps eyes on Red Bull Rookies prize
KUALA LUMPUR: Talented motorcycle racer Hakim Danish Ramli is determined to once again create history for Malaysia before he makes the step up to the Moto3 World Championship next season. Danish is keen on becoming the first Malaysian rider to win the Red Bull Rookies Cup (RBR) and is in a good position to do so as he currently leads the championship with 154 points. But with only two rounds (four races) remaining, the 18-year-old has little margin for error with a resurgent Brian Uriarte (Spain) trailing by only 13 points behind him. The RCB-backed rider said clinching the RBR title would be "unforgettable". "It would definitely mean a lot to me to win the RBR title," said Danish yesterday (July 31). "All the best (young) riders from around the world come to compete in RBR, to be a part of it (series) is already an honour for me. "To go up against them and actually win the title would be incredible. It would be unforgettable. "I will definitely give it my all to win it and I am confident I can continue doing well. I want to finish my season the best way possible." If he is successful in wrapping up the title, it will not be the first time Danish has created history for Malaysia in motorsports. He became the first Malaysian rider to win the Asia Talent Cup (ATC) in 2022, beating Asia's top junior riders for the title. Danish is also competing in the FIM JuniorGP World Championship this season and is seventh in the overall standings with 51 points. A product of the Sepang International Circuit talent development programme, Danish is widely expected to make the step up to Moto3 next season. He could be given a Moto3 wildcard for the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia (MotoGP Malaysia) later this year.

PETALING JAYA: Badminton legend Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei has called for patience and support for national singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen as he works to develop world-class singles players. Jonassen, who took up the role about eight months ago, came in with a strong reputation, having previously coached Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen and world No. 3 Anders Antonsen. Upon his appointment, he was entrusted with a major task, to groom a player capable of delivering Malaysia's first Olympic gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. However, he is already facing pressure as the current batch of men's and women's singles players in the national set-up have yet to deliver convincing results. Leong Jun Hao, for instance, has climbed slightly to No. 24 in the world rankings this week and has managed to upset a few top players, but his performances remain inconsistent and he has yet to achieve a breakthrough this year. The situation is similar in the women's singles camp, which is currently led by national No. 1 K. Letshanaa. Chong Wei, however, has stepped up in defence of the Danish coach, saying Jonassen has a clear vision and good ideas for improving the singles department but the process will take time. Ideally, Chong Wei believes Jonassen should be given a full Olympic cycle to implement his training programme and show whether it can produce the desired results. 'I've met him and we discussed how we can help our top singles players. He has some very good ideas. 'But we need to give him time — not a month, not even a year. He should be given at least one full cycle. 'That means four years. Only then can he implement his plans and hopefully deliver the results we want. He's only been here for less than six months. 'It's like raising a child — even learning to walk takes a year. Producing a world champion takes far longer,' said Chong Wei. Chong Wei shared his thoughts when met by reporters after being conferred the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN), which carries the title Datuk Seri, during the 2025 Penang State Awards ceremony held in conjunction with the 84th birthday celebration of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib yesterday. Also honoured was Badminton Association of Malaysia president Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who received the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), which also carries the title Datuk Seri. Sports Commissioner Suhardi Alias was among the recipients of the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), which comes with the title Datuk.
