Google Photos celebrates turning 10 with a new and improved editor and easier album sharing

TL;DR Google is celebrating 10 years of Google Photos with a fresh look and new tools for the editor.
You can now share entire albums instantly with people nearby with just a QR code.
The rollout for the new photo editor begins next month for Android users, and iOS later this year.
For a lot of people, Google Photos is where all their memories live in terms of cloud-based storage. With at least 15GB of space on the free tier, Google Photos is one of the better options available. And believe it or not, Google Photos has been around for an entire decade.
Since a decade of Google Photos is quite a feat, Google is celebrating the milestone with a brand new look for the Google Photos editor. The redesigned editor has a more simplified interface that puts all of the editing tools in a single place along with helpful edit suggestions to get the perfect photo.
In a single tap, you can select the subject, background, or any other part of the photo. With some help from AI, a menu containing several suggestions tailored for that particular area pops up, all designed to enhance that part of the image. Or if you want to edit the entire image, there are AI-powered suggestions that combine several effects for a quick and painless edit.
There are also new tools like Reimagine and Auto frame, which originally made their debut with the Magic Editor in the Pixel 9 series. These new tools can be found with the other manual adjustment tools like brightness and contrast. Reimagine utilizes generative AI to make a scene more ideal (turn a gloomy overcast sky into a sunny one), and Auto frame helps achieve the proper crop.

Once you get those edits in, you'll likely want to share those results quickly with others. If those people happen to be nearby, you can now share entire albums faster by generating a QR code for people to scan. Once someone scans the code, they're able to view and even add photos to the album if needed.
So when are we getting all these new goodies? We got an early look at that QR code sharing feature in an APK teardown last month, but it's now rolling out for all Google Photos users. For the redesigned Google Photos editor, however, it will begin landing on Android devices running Android 8 or newer in June, with iOS devices later this year.

YouTube Shorts adds Google Lens to let you search while watching video clips
Google is rolling out beta testing for YouTube Shorts that adds Google Lens to the short-form video platform. The feature would allow watchers to search for more information on what they see in the brief content. Once the feature is available, you can access it by pausing the Short. Lens will be available from the top menu, which you can use to highlight a portion of the video to search. From there, Google Lens will overlay search results over the clip. Google breaks it down on a support page, which notes that the feature is only coming to iOS and Android mobile devices. The menu will also let you translate captions. Once you're done with your search, you can close the Lens or swipe down at the top of the results to close them. In an announcement post, Google noted that there won't be any ads in the search results, at least during the beta testing. It also says, "The Lens experience isn't available for Shorts with YouTube Shopping affiliate links or with paid product promotions." Presumably, this won't last when the feature comes out of beta. Likely, Google will add some sort of commerce integration or a Google Shopping feature down the line. YouTube has been trying to make Shorts more prominent in the last few months, especially in the TV app, so it's not surprising that more features are coming out specifically for the short-form platform. Like many Google rollouts, if you don't immediately have access, give it a day or two.

The Toyota Supra Won't Stay Dead For Long
The current Toyota Supra is already on the way out with the Final Edition marking the end of the Mk5's six-year production run in the US. It was fun while it lasted. But don't expect the Supra name to be out of the Toyota lineup for long. In a recent interview with MotorTrend , Toyota has suggested that a new Supra will indeed happen. Better yet, this new one shouldn't take as long to hit the market as the Mk5 did. Hopefully . Photo by: Toyota "It would be logical that we would have a next-gen Supra. But when and how is still TBD," said senior vice president of Product Planning and Strategy for Toyota Motor North America, Cooper Ericksen. "Definitely there will be a gap. The question is how big will that gap be… It is our goal to have a gap that is significantly less [than the last one]." Lest you forget, the Mk4 Supra ended production in the US in 1998, which means it took 21 years for Toyota to revive the Supra name in the US. Thankfully, Toyota promises that we won't have to wait another two decades for the next one. Unfortunately, that doesn't necessarily mean we'll see a new Supra next year—or even the year after. Ericksen noted that Toyota still has its 'hands full' producing core products like the latest RAV4 and the ever-popular Camry, among others. It's also unclear if the next Supra will be a jointly developed project like the current one, which Toyota produced alongside BMW's Z4. "A product like Supra, it's made it to a point where now we have a Final Edition, and the reason is it's just not cost-effective with all the new regulations and investment we have to make," Erickson noted. "It needs to be a new house. When we can get the new house built is the question." We'll just have to wait and see. The Dodge Durango Hellcat Refuses to Die
The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was supposed to be a one-and-done. Dodge initially created this supercharged V-8 SUV for the 2021 model year only, but it proved so popular that the Durango Hellcat made a comeback in 2023. Unfortunately for Dodge, that pissed off a number of 2021 owners who thought they were getting a true limited-edition SUV. But the Durango Hellcat was too good to kill off. For 2026, the Durango Hellcat enters its fourth consecutive year of production, its fifth in total. It may just be indestructible. Photo by: Dodge Dodge revealed details on the 2026 Durango on Friday, though it only just confirmed the SRT Hellcat would continue for the next model year, offering no further information. The brand said it would reveal more in the third quarter of this year. For 2026, the base V-6 Durango GT lives on, and its $40,490 base price stays the same, too. The Hemi V-8-powered R/T gets a new 20-inch wheel design, and the Tow N Go package is now available as a standalone option, where it previously only came on the R/T 20th anniversary editions. For $5,990, you get all the performance upgrades that used to come with the Durango SRT 392, minus the engine, and everything that comes with the $1,195 tow package, including a trailer brake controller. Photo by: Dodge In a statement, Dodge CEO Matt McAleer said Tow N Go accounted for 25 percent of Durango orders at various points, so the brand wanted to expand it across the lineup. The R/T also gets the $3,495 Blacktop Redline package that debuted with the Durango GT last year, which includes unique wheels, black and red racing stripes, and red stitching inside. Like the GT, Dodge didn't raise Durango R/T pricing for 2026, with the $51,990 base price remaining as before. Next year will be the 15th on the market for the current Durango, making it one of the oldest models you can buy today. But, as Dodge struggles with the Hornet and the new V-8-less Charger, it needs the Durango. It might be old, but that just means Dodge has long since paid off the development and tooling costs, making it profitable.
