Ex-India Opener Feels RCB Star Is 'Best Finisher In T20 Cricket' Right Now

Last Updated: The 29-year-old RCB star has played five T20Is in 2025 and, with the help of 15 fours and 27 sixes, has amassed a total of 265 runs in four innings. Australian middle-order batter Tim David has been in red-hot form these days. The 29-year-old right-handed batter from Singapore who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the cash-rich Indian Premier League has scored a total of 265 runs in five T20Is for the Australian team in 2025. In his last four T20I innings, David has scored 102 not out from 37 balls and 30 from 12 balls against the West Indies and 83 from 52 balls and 50 runs from 24 balls against South Africa. His batting strike rate in the shortest format of the game this year is 212.00. During the T20I match played between Australia and the West Indies in Basseterre on July 25, he completed his century in just 37 balls, which helped him break the record of scoring the fastest century in T20Is for Australia. David's red-hot form with the bat these days earned him big praise from former Indian opener Aakash Chopra. In a video uploaded by Aakash on his YouTube channel, he said that David is the best finisher in the world right now. 'He's growing in stature and how. See his figures in the last five matches (265 runs, 1 century, 2 fifties, 212 strike rate, 15 fours, 27 sixes, and a batting average of 88.33). He's playing at a different level. He's batting like nobody can catch him. He was a steal deal for RCB (signed for Rs 3 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction). He scored runs in IPL 2025 (187 in 12 matches) and helped his team win matches. He's probably the best finisher in T20 cricket right now. The way he's batting and the consistency with which he is batting – everything is falling in place. Tim David has been absolutely outstanding." Chopra also made a bold prediction for David's Australian teammate Cameron Green and said that the former Mumbai Indians and RCB star could be the most expensive player in the IPL 2026 auction, which is likely to take place later this year. Green has played seven T20Is for Australia in 2025 and, with the help of three fifties, has scored 249 runs. He missed the 2025 edition of the IPL due to an injury. 'I think he can be the most expensive player in the IPL 2026 auction. Since he has made a return to international cricket, his batting form has been incredible. He is not ready to bowl at the moment, but he will start doing it at some stage. He could actually break the bank. Log inke upar bahut paisa udane wale hai," Chopra said. In the IPL 2023 auction, Green was signed for Rs 17.50 crore by the Mumbai Indians, and he joined RCB in a trade deal worth Rs 17.50 crore ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. By Thursday, Oriental Insurance Company, which is implementing the task, had provided cover to a record 1,51,950 govindas affiliated with 1,854 dahi handi mandals. Manager Sachin Khanvilkar said, "Of this, the govt-mandated Maharashtra Rajya Dahi Handi Govinda Association has routed the applications of 1,38,920 players belonging to 1,670 govinda troupes. Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation has insured 6,630 boys affiliated with 99 mandals. And 85 mandals approached us directly with 6,400 entries. We will be working on Aug 15 as well so the figure will increase." 'It's my life, my career': INR 23.75 crore KKR star makes bold statement after facing flak for not justifying price tag

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer frequently faces flak over not justifying the Rs. 23.75 crore price tag at which he was retained by the IPL franchise in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Iyer, who emerged as the breakout star of the league in 2021, when he singlehandedly inspired KKR to reach the final, has had ups and downs in his performance since then. He had a quiet 2025 season, which led to naysayers questioning his cost-benefit ratio. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD However, the player does not get affected by the opinions of detractors and made it known that those who question him are not even in his contact list, a parameter he seemingly refers before judging whether someone's opinion holds any importance to him or not. 'People who had these questions are not even on my contact list. So why do I have to even think about what they are thinking?' Venkatesh Iyer told Sportskeeda. 'It's my life, my game, my career. And it's my team that has chosen to spend so much on me. So these things don't faze me. See, for a boy who wanted to just play IPL cricket, even ₹20 lakh would sometimes feel like a significant amount. And over the years, this is what I've learnt. Not just me, but all the cricketers have learnt this: there are a lot of eyes on you, but it's important to know what to pay heed to. People who have had a direct impact on my life, I am answerable to only them,' he said. KKR management still holds faith in Iyer As KKR struggled to pull off victories in the IPL 2025, Venkatesh Iyer had to bear the brunt of it because of his price tag and was even dropped from the side on a couple of occasions. He featured in 11 games in the eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League and was able to register just 142 runs. Despite the form dwindle, the MP all-rounder insists that the KKR management still trusts him. Moreover, he reveals that KKR CEO Venky Mysore did his best to not let him get affected by the whopping price attached with him. 'It's not about just the money, it's about where I fit in their scheme of things. Venky sir once told me something, which I felt made a lot of sense. He said, 'At the end of the day, you are given 120 units to build a team. Once the team is built, it doesn't matter how many units you have spent on what. It is a team that has been made now, that's it,' he added. Iyer focuses on the positives he was able attain from IPL 2025 While it was a torrid season for KKR, who started the campaign as the defending champions but ended up finishing 8th this time, Iyer was able to extract some positives out of it. 'Yeah, I have taken the learnings, taken the positives, and whatever mistakes happened. But yeah, there were a lot of things that have come up that I feel hindered my performance. But all in all, good one or bad one, winning the trophy or not winning it, scoring 600-700 runs, that and all is different. It was a season full of learning, and that is what is constant.' He concluded. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
