
Thunderstorm warning issued for southwest Simcoe, Dufferin counties
Communities in the southwestern part of Simcoe County and across Dufferin County are under a thunderstorm warning for Wednesday evening.
According to Environment Canada, meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts.
The weather agency states that the storms are spanning from Shelburne to Grand Valley and moving east at 70 kilometres per hour.
The areas that could be impacted span as far southwest as the towns of Orangeville and Caledon and as far northeast as Innisfil.
Environmental Canada adds that local utility outages are likely, as well as damage to roofs, fences, soft shelters or trees.
Residents are urged to take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches and to seek protection from flying debris and hail.
