Dubai Government Human Resources Department announces Hijri New Year holiday for the year 1447
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) issued a circular announcing Friday, June 27, 2025 – as the official public holiday for Dubai government entities, departments and institutions in celebration of Hijri New Year.
The circular clarifies that this holiday excludes entities with employees working in shifts or those involved in providing essential public services or managing vital facilities. These organisations may determine appropriate working hours for such employees based on operational requirements to ensure uninterrupted services.
On this blessed occasion, the Department extends its warmest wishes to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and the citizens and residents of the UAE.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a written message to Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, focusing on bilateral relations between the UAE and Canada. Sheikh Abdullah and the Canadian Prime Minister also explored opportunities for collaboration across various sectors, including the economic and commercial fields, energy, artificial intelligence and education. Sheikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE and Canada share deep-rooted ties and a growing partnership founded on productive and constructive collaboration, aligned with the shared aspirations of both nations and their efforts to achieve sustainable development. Mohammed bin Rashid announces changes to UAE government
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said, 'Following consultations with my brother, His Highness the President, and with his approval, we announce today changes to the UAE government as follows: establishment of a Ministry of Foreign Trade in the UAE government and appointment of Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi as Minister of Foreign Trade, and renaming the Ministry of Economy to Ministry of Economy and Tourism led by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.' He added, 'We also announce that the National Artificial Intelligence System will be adopted as an advisory member in the Council of Ministers, the Ministerial Development Council, and all boards of federal entities and government companies starting from January 2026 to support decision-making in these councils, conduct real-time analyses of their decisions, provide technical advice, and enhance the efficiency of government policies adopted by these councils across all sectors.'
