Proton returns to Singapore with e.MAS 7 showcase at The Car Expo 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd (Proton) is returning to Singapore with its first electric vehicle (EV), the Proton e.MAS 7, which will be available for a special public preview at The Car Expo 2025 this weekend.
In a statement today, the national carmaker said the comeback follows the model's international debut in Nepal at the end of March.
Riding on its success as Malaysia's best-selling EV in the first four months of this year, Proton said the unveiling marks the brand's return to Singapore after more than a decade.
"Partnering with newly appointed authorised distributor VINCAR Group, Proton is re-entering an export market that ranks second globally in per-capita gross domestic product (GDP) based on purchasing power parity.
"Looking ahead, VINCAR will spearhead retail operations for Proton's EV lineup under the e.MAS brand, offering Singaporean drivers high-quality EVs designed for urban lifestyles," it said.
Meanwhile, Proton's chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong said the debut of the Proton e.MAS 7 in Singapore marks a significant step in the company's international expansion and reflects its commitment to delivering high-quality, technologically advanced EVs to the region.
"We are confident that the e.MAS 7, with its compelling features and suitability for urban environments, will resonate well with Singaporean drivers as the nation embraces electric mobility," he said.
The carmaker noted that visitors can view both Prime and Premium variants of the e.Mas powered by a high-performance 12-in-1 electric drive system and an Aegis short blade battery, at booth D25 in Singapore EXPO Halls Three and Four.
Proton also said its return to Singapore aligns with the nation's accelerating transition to green mobility.
According to the company, Singapore's EV market share has steadily increased from 12 per cent in 2022 to 18 per cent in 2023, with projections reaching 55 per cent by 2027.
"To support this shift, Singapore aims to install at least 12,000 EV charging points in approximately 2,000 Housing and Development Board carparks by 2025, and 60,000 by 2030.
"Additionally, the government targets 100 per cent of vehicles to run on cleaner energy by 2040, contributing to Singapore's net-zero emissions goal by reducing land transport emissions," it said.
Back in Malaysia, Proton added that it has received more than 6,000 bookings for the e.MAS 7, demonstrating growing interest among Malaysians in switching to EVs—provided the overall package meets expectations. – BERNAMA

Aspire Becomes First Fintech to Integrate Directly with Payboy, Streamlining Payroll Management

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach Newswire - 10 June 2025 - Aspire, the all-in-one financial operating system for modern businesses, today announced its integration with Payboy, one of Asia's leading payroll software providers, serving over 70,000 users across the region. This integration marks Aspire as the first fintech company to directly integrate with Payboy, streamlining payroll operations for growing businesses. Payroll management is traditionally a cumbersome process. Businesses often spend valuable hours manually reformatting payroll files for bank transfers, increasing the risk of errors and operational disruptions. In fact, 52% of Singaporean HR professionals report spending up to 6 hours per week troubleshooting payroll errors, revising records, or querying data, time that could otherwise be directed towards strategic business growth and productivity. The new integration directly addresses these challenges by enabling a seamless export of payroll data. Businesses can effortlessly export payroll files from Payboy and import them directly into Aspire without any additional manual reformatting. This streamlined process drastically reduces error rates and administrative workload, enabling payroll to be executed efficiently in just two simple steps: export and upload. 'We are proud to be the first fintech to integrate with Payboy,' said Andrea Baronchelli, CEO and Co-Founder of Aspire. 'Aspire is leading the way in simplifying financial operations. We're not just offering faster payroll, we're redefining what modern, automated finance should look like for ambitious businesses.' 'This collaboration represents a shared vision of what business tools should be: intuitive, compliant, and built for growth,' said Raphael Ng, General Manager of Payboy. 'Together with Aspire, we're helping teams move faster with confidence, and enabling data driven decisions.' The partnership supports Aspire's broader vision of streamlining business finance through seamless integrations with trusted tools. The Payboy integration expands Aspire's suite of payroll integrations, reinforcing its commitment to automating and simplifying financial operations for Singaporean entrepreneurs and businesses.

DBS Breaks US$100 Billion Barrier, Becomes Singapore's First Bank To Hit Milestone

DBS Group Holdings Ltd has become the first Singapore-based bank to cross the US$100 billion mark in market capitalisation, bolstered by a rally in its share price and a strengthening Singapore dollar. Shares of Southeast Asia's largest lender rose as much as 0.8% on June 9 to S$45.50, pushing its market value to S$129 billion (US$100.2 billion). The stock has gained 4.3% so far in 2025, with much of the appreciation amplified in US dollar terms due to a 6% rise in the Singapore dollar against the greenback. The milestone comes on the heels of robust financial performance and investor confidence. Singaporean banks, including DBS, have committed to returning billions in surplus capital to shareholders following record earnings in 2024. DBS' gains were driven by higher lending activity and wealth management fees. Tan Su Shan, who succeeded longtime Chief Executive Officer Piyush Gupta in March, said during her debut earnings call that the bank is positioning itself to capture value from supply chain shifts and increasing demand for foreign exchange hedging services. DBS is also strengthening its foothold in private banking. According to Asian Private Banker, it remains the third-largest wealth manager in Asia outside mainland China. The bank recorded S$21 billion in net new money last year, marking its third consecutive year of inflows above S$20 billion. Related

Proton e.MAS 7 is now available in Trinidad and Tobago

PETALING JAYA: Proton Holdings Bhd's international sales division (ISD) has launched its first electric vehicle, the Proton 7, in Trinidad and Tobago. The country is the second international market for the model and comes three months after its international debut in Nepal. Launched in Malaysia in December last year, the 7 is already the company's third most popular export model, behind the Proton Saga and Proton X50. Held at the capital city of Port of Spain, the launch event was officiated and witnessed by Ansa Motors Ltd sector head Jean-Marc Mouttet, and Ansa MCAL Ltd new business development general manager Alexander Sabga. Motors is Proton's official distributor in the dual island Caribbean nation. In conjunction with the launch and to better serve its growing EV customer base, Ansa Motors unveiled a new, state-of-the-art EV showroom at The City of Grand Bazaar. The new facility will offer customers to explore its EV lineup, learn about EV technology and receive specialised support. Building on the entry of the Proton X50 and Proton X90 into the Trinidad and Tobago market last year, this launch further reinforces Proton's continuous efforts in global expansion and bringing advanced automotive technology to its export markets. To date, 481 units of Proton vehicles have been exported to the country, which has a population of approximately 1.4 million. These include 271 units of the Proton X50, 141 units of the Proton X90 and 44 units of the Proton Saga. 'Proton's journey with the 7 into the Trinidadian market is a significant moment for for the company. It strongly reflects our commitment to leading the adoption of EVs in the nation and marks another pivotal step in our international expansion. This also clearly demonstrates Proton's dedication to leading the charge for EV adoption in our export portfolio and we can't wait to roll it out to additional export markets such as Mauritius and Singapore later this year,' said Proton International sales division director Edmund Lim Meng Thong.
